Chapter 23: The start of Sprint competition

The discussion started among the crowds which was a mix of faculty members, students and their parents whether Dennis will be able to repeat history this year also and win the sprint competition.

The commentator said: "From the Grand Cultural University we have Rahul who was the Runners up of the previous year it will be very interesting to see if he could take the number one spot from his counterpart Dennis or will he remain on the second spot this year also."

As soon as the commentator said this there was uproar in the crowd as many people sided with Rahul who were from GCU and many students were still favoring Dennis who was the students from CU College as there was a division in the fan base between Rahul and Dennis.

Just then the commentator said: "From RMU College we have Peter who is the most favorite candidate since he was the second runner up of last year's competition."

There was another cheer from the crowd as the students who were from RMU College also started cheering for their favorite candidate.

The commentator further said: "Apart from our champions from last year's champions we have some new faces who have taken part in this competition so let's see if they can do something here."

Mary who was also there in the stands sitting with her and Rahul's group of friends discussed among her Group: "Now that Bharat will be taught a lesson soon how dare he set foot in our prestigious college I want all these scum to be thrown out of our prestigious GCU College so that next time these below standard people will not dare to enroll in our university."

 The Girl next to Mary said: "Do not worry I am sure Rahul has made sufficient plans to teach this Bharat a lesson. Because this year's competition will be won by Rahul and looking at this Bharat it seems that he never had participated in any sprint race competition before so it is very likely that he will be the last in this Race."

On the other hand Pallavi who was sitting with her friends from CU university can hear her friends cheering up for Dennis however she was a bit worried for Bharat also since she felt a bit of guilt for him as she thought that Bharat came all this way from Rajgarh Town to this Rajgarh Metro city and enrolled here to participate in this sprint competition to win her over. Also Pallavi and Bharat were childhood friends so naturally she still liked him even though Bharat was her ex-boyfriend now.

The commentator announced again: "Ladies and Gentlemen the time has come for the race to start since the coach has already signaled the sprinters to come on the starting point and take up their respective positions."

As the players stood on the starting points on their respective tracks the commentator announced: "So on track one we have the champion from RMU college Peter, then track two goes to Saravanan, track three has been assigned to Iyer, track four is assigned to David, then we have the fifth track which has been assigned to Damain, track sixth has been assigned to a new student named Bharat, track seventh goes to Sean, track eighth goes to the Champion of the CU college Dennis then track ninth has been assigned to Akash and the Legendary track tenth on which it is rumored that most of the extraordinary players choose as their jersey number has been assigned to the champion of Grand Cultural University college Mr. Rahul. It seems the management of GCU has high hopes of winning the competition this year than for eleventh track we have Laxman and for the twelfth track Deep has been assigned."

 The commentator said: "Attention please so now the 200 meter sprint race is about to begin as the coach has asked the player to take up their positions."

The voice of the coach could be heard which has been magnified due to the speakers.

Coach: "On your Mark."

The players took up their respective posture and sat down on the track.

Coach: "Get set"

The sprinters took up the ready mode since the next second they will start running.

Now there seemed to be a pin drop silence which prevailed among the crowd which denoted the fact that how everyone is awaiting the next moment.

For Bharat he could even feel his heart beat since he was a bit nervous as he has never participated in such a huge competition before.

Next there was the sound of a gunshot "BBA NNNN GGGG."

With the sound of the Gunshot they sprinted forward tearing through the wind and trying to run as fast as they could to be the first in this race.

The commentator said: "Dennis as expected is leading the race again followed by Peter who seems to be trying his best to catch up to Dennis and just behind him Rahul is also trying to get the leading positions since there is a lot of pressure on him to win this competition this year as he is from the host college."

A few seconds elapsed before the first glass fragment touched Bharat's foot and caused it to bleed just as they reached the first ten meters of the race track. Bharat was barefoot at this point and his feet were bleeding, therefore he could feel tremendous pain there. He couldn't stop now, though, because the race had already begun. Naturally, the pain had some impact on his performance, which led him to slow down. As the race progressed the glass fragments kept on touching Bharat's foot which made it bleed nonstop.

The commentator said: "Dennis is still leading the race however now Rahul has taken over from Peter who is just behind Dennis followed by Peter who is at the third position now."

Professor Devika started to get worried as her candidate was again falling back to the third position.

Professor Ravindran commented happily: "It seems that this year also the championship of the sprint competition will be held by CU College as Dennis seems to be in a good form."

The commentator further continued: "Saravanan is on the fourth position, Iyer is in the fifth position, David is on the seventh position, Sean is on the eighth position, Akash is on the ninth position, Laxman is in the tenth position, Deep is in the eleventh position, and Bharat, who appears to be far behind then the rest of the contenders, is on the twelfth position."

When Mary learned of this fact that Bharat was not only the last but far behind the other contenders by the commentary that was made, she felt a little relieved that her intentions to punish Bharat if he lost the race were going to succeed.

Mary told her friends: "See I told you guys that this Bharat do not have any chance of winning this race since he is a filthy scum and he do not deserve to be here in this college now once he loses the race we will make sure that he should be kicked out of the college at once."
