Three Rules I

Anxi's tired eyes slowly flickered open as the alarm went off, only to see the sun's early morning glow penetrating through her pink cotton, she blinked a few more times before her blurry vision cleared off and she lazily reached for the annoying alarm, turning it off.

Sitting upright on the bed, a disturbing headache pierced through her skull which made her feel her brains were being ripped apart and she winced at the throbbing feeling, clasping both her hands at the side of her head.

"Ah!...What sort of headache is this?" The pain was clearly written on her delicate face.

Her right hand moved from the side of her face, slipping to the back of her head as she gently rubbed on it to reduce the headache.

She was so focused on easing off the pain when all of last night's events flashed back in her little head like she just received a thunderbolt strike, making her eyes widen.

She remembered leaving the company with Xandria after coincidentally bumping into one another.

They went to have a drink at a bar to celebrate their accomplishment of getting a job when she figured out Xandria was actually her boss's sister.

The chit chat continued and the waiter brought their drinks which they made a toast to before gulping down the whole content.

She could barely get herself back, then Xandria was willing to take her back home and…and...

That's it?

"Did Xandria bring me back?" She asked puzzledly, finding her predicament to be a little confusing.

For some reason she felt a part of her memory was missing but when her eyes inadvertently diverted to the clock on the wall, her pupils dilated in horror, clearing her other thoughts away.

"It's 6:55?!!".

'I'm supposed to start work today!' ignoring her disturbing headache, she hastily got to her feet, grabbed a towel and dashed into the bathrooms without wasting a second.

Stepping into the company, Anxi glanced at her watch and it was almost two minutes till it gets to 7:30. Fortunately her grandmother doesn't seem to have a clue of when she returned last night, saving her from an early scolding. She smiled at the receptionist as she hurried past.

"Good morning!"

"Morning Anxi, good luck on your first day!" The receptionist warmly said to her while Anxi smiled gratefully before dashing into the elevator, greeting every person she came across while knotting her fingers behind her back.

She nervously glanced at her watch and still had two more minutes before her time up.

She took a deep breath, calming her nerves while her delicate fingers clutched tightly to her bag, after a few seconds which felt like the longest hours of her life, the elevator door finally opened and Anxi sprinted to her office without wasting any more time, it would be a bad record for her if she arrived late on her first day.

Dropping her bags on the chair, she glanced at her watch and she had just thirty seconds left.

Time can really be heartless, can't it slow down for a few minutes?

She wasn't willing to get distracted and made her way to Xander's office with the hopes of getting his table arranged before he showed up but the moment she reached the door, she missed her footing and slipped.

"Ahh!!" Falling to the ground with a panicked cry, the door opened afterwards.

Anxi couldn't help but feel the most important days of her life were always jinxed.

She rubbed her head in an attempt to erase the dizziness from her fall but what was even more embarrassing was meeting the enchanting gaze of her boss who was facing the window but seemed to have turned around the moment she badged in.

Anxi really felt like the ground should open and swallow her whole as she made eye contact with her boss, why was he here so early??

"....."

"Good...good morning." She forced a smile while trying to hide her embarrassment, getting up to her feet.

Xander on the other hand had been expecting her presence and glanced at his watch, in fact he had even timed her.

"Just at the nick of time." He uttered while Anxi let out a long deep breath she didn't realize she was holding after spotting her boss, she successfully made it on time even though she had a bad fall but it was worth it.

Xander randomly chose to ignore her sudden fall earlier and instead, took a seat on his winged chair while staring at his little bunny.

She was dressed in a plain black gown which brought out her features as there was a red belt holding her tapered waist, her hair was tied in a ponytail and just like before, she wore no makeup but still captivated the young man staring at her, especially after what happened between them last night.

"It's your first day of work so I'm going to be lenient with you, if you want to survive working with me then you have to maintain these three rules."

More rules? Anxi grimaced silently in her head.

She isn't even done learning about the whole secretary thing and now this?

"What rules sir?"
