it's a mediocre read. i enjoy the route the novel was trying to go with alchemy in a game to earn money, I just really dislike naive innocent uncultured uneducated main characters. there hasn't been a single moment of him becoming more social or actually learning any more than he already has not had he really just focused on alchemy. it's mostly just oh yeah he learned this and that in an hour and can do it with his eyes closed now. not saying it's bad, just it makes it seems like just another cultivation novel. there honestly doesn't seem like there's any point in the transitions to RL as they are basically meaningless snippets.
This mc is a moron. That's all I can say so far. He's so ignorant and the author doesn't even try to make him improve, he just gives him more things to be ignorant about. And what's with him being so obsessed with being secretive? Shouldn't be be trying to become a core disciple since he wants more freedom? He had the job cut short for him and yet he still refuses to do it, he's selling the pills instead of submitting a small amount of them to finish the test. I'm 100% sure the author left it like that so the mc can do some face slapping. It was even more obvious when he didn't start wearing new robes when he become the sect leaders disciple. Even more reinforced when he helped the Kong guy when his cauldron was about to explode and the other guy wanted to attack him. Mc held him up with his qi manipulation (something that's rare) and yet everyone just brushed if off like it's something normal.
I read good portion into the book by my suspension of disbelief can only carry me so far. It is fascinating how everyone in the book asks the dumbest questions for exposition. All main characters seem to be naieve and lack any sceptisim when it comes to the "game world" or how the Alex got OP abilities. Characters feel so lifeless especially Alex. I can't speak for the whole book because I had to stop reading.
this is by far the worst novel I have ever read on character development. The MC is the dumbest person ever. he never thinks before doing anything. whatever bad has happened in the story has all been his fault because he is stupid. I am currently on chapter 825 but there is no change in character development. The author please do something about it, you are clearly ruining this novel. also please be clear about his cultivation at all times.
After reading about 400 chapters, I can honestly say it's an okay novel. Let me explain. I'll try not to spoil. The MC is a country bumpkin who has entered college. He's probably the most innocent college kid I've ever read, and I have read quite a repertoire of books so his mental state threw me off. His true mental state feels more like a 14 year old freshman in high school. It can be at times very frustrating at how kind and giving he can be to the point of being a pushover yet at the same time admirable. The MC (Alex) is truly one of those innocent zero to hero in the making. Now I can understand this can dissuade people from continuing but if you can endure his once in awhile stupid behavior you can see his miniscule growth in character. (It's been 400 chapters and I can say he has gone from Innocent Stupid to just Less Innocent) Now do I recommend this book? I'd say it's like a more tame kid friendly version of Cultivation Online so if you liked that story you probably will like this one except with Alchemy added onto it. Would recommend it to friends who like a not OP MC with cultivation only. My True Score is a 6.8/10 Close to 6.9 but it's not nice enough.
At first this story gave me a weird vibe. After read around 40 chapters I finally understand. It's like you put "JP novel's beta MC" inside a ''peaceful VR+Cultivation world'' which is a weird combination. Sadly, Story development is at snail pace it's going nowhere. Author make up buy wrote a lot of chapters per day, you can enjoy it if you have lot of coins or tickets (which make it extremely pricy to enjoy this story). Characters and world is quite bland and one dimensional. Overall it's pretty chill to read, It's not bad give it a try.
I enjoyed the start and first few hundred chapters of this story. But now I am very quickly getting bored by everything that is happening. Say what you will about the usual style of Chinese novels, even the poorly paced ones place more importance on the MC, and done have large filler events so early and often in the story. Will try and continue to read but I am already sick of the story since the MC is doing nothing. And the usual trend you find in story’s written by westerners is starting to pop up, though it is nice that there isn’t angst all over the place, and the character so far isn’t a simp. And thank god it is NOT a harem story, that kind of trash can F right off.
I reached chapter 525 and am amazed of my tolerance. There was never a novel before where I hated the Mc so much that I just wished to reincarnate in this book for the sole purpose of killing him. You should be proud. Unfortunately, I too, have fallen to my frustrations. I feel like ripping my hair out and punching the wall to the point of having bloody knuckles every time I read a few paragraphs of the protagonists thoughts. I wish you good luck author, but this is the end for me. I can‘t stand Alex anymore.
I will say this novel has a lot of potentials, I've read up to ch 180 and I can't anymore with how naive and ignorant the mc is, very slow-paced I feel like the novel is being fleshed out. Grammar is okay, world-building is getting there a lot of potential if the author retried it could be top 10 imo just needs more in all aspects. Great premise though!
Perfect. Good character design, good world design, excellent history development, the history isn’t too faster but there isn’t slow is just perfect. The other characters have a good design and they are realist but there don’t have too much time in the screen if they are not important. The most important thing is that the situations are plausible and not sub realist at time that have the “Mc aura”
I can safely say if you’re a fan of well written novels or anything VR/Cultivation related, this novel will have you hooked after chapter 15. The story’s pacing is excellent so far, and while not getting into the specifics of the cultivation system the author has done a fine job of explaining what’s relevant and not just dropping everything in a one chapter dump. As it is early in the novel the world, both real and online, needs time to develop but what has been told so far is excellent. I look forward to supporting this work farther into the future and hope that this level of quality remains, as most works are not as easily read as this one.
