ERROR: UNKNOWN CALLERS

Ever wondered... “What if time and space were codes in a program, people were NPCs, and reality was nothing more than a simulation.” Well, it all comes to life in this story where it all begins with a simple call from an unknown caller. Multiple lifetimes, different timelines and a mystery folded in the origin of reality. Mysterious watchers, hackers, anonymous beings and time travellers, these are simply just a taste of the mysteries that are exposed as you follow through the story. Many leads may die but one will struggle to survive longer than the rest. For how long? That's up to you to find out. This is going to be a long series so sit back and enjoy the read. I know you'll like what you read. ********** Also, for my readers out there, I'll be posting two chapters every single week without fail. So you can expect my frequent posts and enjoy my work as much as you can.

"Hmm, It's 12:50AM, it's time for you to go and finish your job." Being X said promptly as he proceeded to leave.

But Delete wasn't satisfied yet, he had literally just uncovered some universal truth from Being X, he wasn't ready to end the conversation yet...

"What!? After all that, you're going to stop there!?"

"Of course, I have my job to do and you have yours. Plus, it's best we finish what we started." Being X replied.

"I-I guess..." Delete reluctantly agreed.

"And...you need to keep doing your jobs, yourself. I know you went through a lot in the past, I know you weren't in control of yourself back then, you sacrifice something precious to survive but in turn because of that 'sacrifice' you lost a lot, too much. But still, that's no excuse to finish your part of the deal." Being X added.

Delete fell silent after that statement, there was a deep repressed feeling he had for killing people, and it bothered him.

On noticing Delete's silence, Being X said...

"Don't tell me... Do you still get those dreams of her? You haven't forgotten about that day or that place, have you? And you're too scared to kill again, aren't you?" Those words had touched Delete in a special place in his heart. How could he forget his first love that died in his own arms.

"That's not it! I-I just..." Delete stuttered, looking away from Being X, trying to mask his shame.

"Very well. I'll let you do as you wish, but get your job done. Otherwise..." Being X warned in a sympathetic tone.

"...." Delete kept silent. He understood that his life hanged on the very balance of his tasks and there wasn't any turning back now.

Without another word, Being X began to levitate into the stormy sky, the clouds diverse for him, sound was absorbed and his being abruptly phased out of reality. Being X disappeared into thin air, as if he was never there.

The whole encounter with Being X left Delete in a daze. Delete was confused, a bit lightheaded but most of all, enraged, mostly at himself.

The facts about reality, the fact that nothing could ever be hidden from the ears of an immortal entity such as Being X and the reminder of his past that he kept trying to forget. So many thoughts ran through his mind as he marched towards his destination, Eric's place of work building.

Before he went any further in the drizzling rain, he took a moment to himself to think...

"Just what's the point of all this? It's not like it won't all come to an end, eventually. The secrets, the mysteries, the pain, and the f#cking constant cycle of it all. It really pisses me off!"

"And here I thought that a supernatural being such as Being X would have the answers. Oh boy, was I so wrong! He doesn't even know the outcome of this messed up story, it really makes you think just what the hell is the point of all this!?" Delete continued on his path, steeling himself for his mission and equipping his weapon from his virtual inventory, it was a revolver.

"And now I walk through another rainy night to end the life of another, again. Haha, such a heavy burden on my soul, for what's left of it." He checks the bullets in the revolving cylinder of his gun.

"*Sighs* I'm tired." Delete let out a sigh as he let the pouring rain flow over his face, albeit a mask.

"Six bullets, six times before I end it all." Delete thought as he cocked the single action revolver. There was a grim atmosphere to Delete's aura, he was on the hunt for something much more than a life, it seemed more like a hunt for death itself.

"For five years. Five years, I've been doing this, getting rid of errors or anomalies! And for...what? "I don't know"? "I don't remember"? Are you f#cking kidding me!!?" Delete let out a loud yell, that roared up to the rainy storm clouds.

After letting out his rage, for the few moments that were still left before he got to Eric, Delete began to recollect his past and how he got here...

"I can still remember the past...It was like a nightmare come true."

Delete, in his thoughts, recollected different images from his past—the broken mirror, his scarred face and body, the stormy night, the bandaged girl, the first hug, his first smile, the green smoke, the hooded soldiers, the purge, her death in his arms, his rageful face in the broken mirror, his fall and the winged entity. All theses images were images from his past, they were memories that made Delete grit his teeth and grip his chest.

But there was a certain imagery, that one memory among all the memories was the only memory that made him shudder. It was the image of a man in a black suit, wearing a Guy Fawkes mask, a fedora hat and holding a silver cane. He called out the man as "Shadow Man". To Delete, the Shadow man was a devil in disguise, an eater of souls.

"It's because of him I have this curse on me, I made a deal with the devil. Because of that devil, I can't ever stop the pain of the past, my bandages burn all the time almost like a reminder of my sins, and I still see death, always." Delete reminded himself, his hands on the avatar's eyes.

"It doesn't matter, I've got a job to do. That's all that matters." He pressed on, and moved forward with the revolver in hand.

Delete had finally arrived at the work building.

"One for a show." With much determination, he pulls the trigger and let's out a gunshot while announcing his presence to Eric.

"That's right! Eric Brander, I am here, your executioner and your worst nightmare...!" Delete stood in the rain, his revolver smoking from the barrel, he sets his sights towards the fifth floor window, and sees his target, Eric Brander.

"I SEE YOU, ERIC BRANDER."
