Forget everything

I fell to the ground after sprinting for 2 hours straight I noticed that I was no longer near the school or houses. I tried getting up but my leg gave in and I hit the ground head-first making me faint.

I felt a strong tugging on both of my feet. I tried brushing it off but it wouldn't budge so I lay there thinking it was just a dog. But when I heard growling I opened my eyes and then I saw a zombie grabbing both my legs. I instinctively kicked it in the face and it got knocked down. I picked myself up and tried running as fast as I could but because of my already exhausted legs, I couldn't even make a distance between myself and the zombie.

It caught up to me immediately when I fell to the ground it launched itself at me and I almost couldn't dodge in time. It barely missed me and it buried its face in the ground. It was struggling to get up and I stood up where I was and I grabbed the stone beside me. I limped my way to the zombie and held the stone over my head ready to beat its head. But its head suddenly came up but I hit its head but it wasn't a deadly blow but a shallow one.

I hold on to the stone again waiting for a perfect chance to beat the zombie with it. The zombie didn't give me that kind of freedom to think and it attacked me again I tried dodging it but I didn't know there was a tree stump and I fell. It was on top of me and it was grabbing me by my shoulder. I couldn't break free so I used my foot and put it against its stomach and I pushed it away. I didn't waste my time and grabbed the stone and started smashing its head in.

"DIE! DIE! DIE! YOU FUCKING BASTARD FUCKING DIE!" I shouted venting my anger at it, my pent-up anger from before and now that I almost died. I didn't stop hitting its head until it was just brain mushed upon the ground and I was covered in blood.

"Huh? What is this? Am I hallucinating? What kind of bullshit is this!?" I said looking at a blank blue screen. I stared at it for multiple minutes and I kept questioning myself but I couldn't come up with an answer. It seems like a game system but what's confusing me is why it is here. I analyzed it and keep thinking about it but it's just full of unfamiliarity. I pressed the skills and it unfolded their bios and their uses.

-Marksmanship

Knows how to use any kind of long-distance weapon which contains Guns, Bows, Darts, throwing knives Etc.

-Attribute (Time Slow - With this ability, the user can slow down time, allowing them to take precise shots even in the midst of chaos and battle.)

-Swordsmanship

The use of the sword is also one's defense it is also not for killing but also protecting.

-Attribute (Moonlight Dance - A graceful and fluid sword technique, this skill allows the user to move with the elegance and precision of the moon's light, making them virtually untouchable.)

-Medicine

The use of medicine dates way back in time when it can be used for yourself or to heal other people.

-Attribute (Advanced medical knowledge: You are highly trained in medicine and have a deep understanding of the human body and how to treat various ailments.)

-Parkour

A skill of how to use your body and your surroundings to their full use and avoid or get out of situations.

-Attribute (Adaptability: You can adapt your movements to any environment, allowing you to navigate through different landscapes and terrains without difficulty.)

If this is true then I may be fucked. I don't have any guns or anything I could throw. Surely I also don't have any form of a sword with me anywhere. And especially, I don't have any supplies or anything for medicine. The only appropriate answer is parkour... I don't even know how to do any form of parkour sure I can vault and jump but parkour is way harder.

And the parkour attribute it's very useful especially when I think back on that fight with the zombie. I kept falling, especially because I wasn't aware of the terrain.

"I made up my mind" I pressed the parkour skill and it has the button "Confirm" at the end of the bio and pressed it.

I stumbled on the ground clutching my head from the unbearable pain. Multiple pieces of information involving the parkour skill and forcefully downloaded into my brain. Because of the pain, I fainted on the ground with bubbles flowing from my mouth.

When I opened my eyes it was already dark and a sense of obscurity enveloped my head. The ground was glistening, and the ways were showing. The whole terrain was like a raging ocean and I was a boatman that know how to navigate around it. I sprinted at the tree and the smoke-like guide was showing me how to climb the tree without using my arms. I jumped on the tree stump and it boost me up enough for me to be able to grab onto the branches with my legs and pulled myself up. It was refreshing because I couldn't manage this before I would probably fall or miss the tree brunch before I got this skill.

My smile was still there and my heart was beating like crazy I didn't know the apocalypse could be so freeing. But testing my skill wasn't the only reason why I get up on this tree it was because I needed to scout where to spend the night without getting eaten. But it wasn't houses or buildings that I saw but a horde of zombies going toward an area with smoke coming out of it. I thought to myself that it must be people and I needed to warn them but. I couldn't possibly arrive there before the horde and that would just make me an unnecessary casualty. So I turned my head to the opposite of where the smoke was and found a campsite.

I jumped off the tree I was on and made my way over to the campsite. As I ran towards it there were multiple obstacles on the way but because of my skill, I continued without even slowing down. I was like those professional parkour masters from youtube or Kyle Crane from Dying light. I felt so free and happy and when I arrived at the campsite I couldn't wipe the grin off my face. But maybe it was stupid to not bring any weapons with me this time.

An old lady with a police uniform was holding a gun and aiming at me and two other people behind her. I immediately raised both of my hands without any movements.

"Who are you!?" she asked me while still pointing a gun at me I was in shock so I couldn't answer her.

"I asked you! Who are you and what are you doing here looking like a murderer?"

"No! No! Please I stumbled across one of those things on my way here and I just did what I needed to do!"

"Bullshit! I asked you one more time who are you?"

"Okay! Okay! I'm- I'm... Who am I?" I thought to myself I couldn't remember my name. Even my family I couldn't remember them.

"Look here I know it's the end of the world but you shouldn't fuck with me, boy!" she cocked her gun almost preparing to shoot me so I just come up with a name.

"I'm Jo! That's my name so please can we talk?"

"Jo? So where are you from Jo?"

"From Sweden."

"That's pretty far Jo but certainly suspicious." she looked at me with wary

"A student? You're from the university?"

"Oh yeah. Why?"

"What happened there? Please don't tell me what's going on here also found its way into the school." she looked very worried for some reason but I needed to answer truthfully.

"Yeah, it was just recess time when it all happened I didn't have any choice but to run away from there."

"Oh god... Erica..." she put the gun away and started tearing up the two people behind her finally showed themselves and hugged her.

"It's okay Julia I know Erica is okay she's your daughter after all" the other woman said

"That's right Julia even when she couldn't walk you were already teaching her how to shoot a gun." The guy said with a feminine voice

"You there! Are you sure that it was overrun?" the woman said

"Yeah! It was a miracle I could even get out of there."

"I see... But now please come in I'm sorry our friend here, she has a daughter at that university."

"Yeah, I heard her name was Erica? Do you mean Erica Xander? She's the school president and the president of the archery squad."

"Yes, this is her mother Julia Xander. By the way, my name is Kathleen, or Kat for short. That gay one right there is David or we call him Mary because he wants to be called that."

"I'm Jo, it's short for Jonathan."

"I see Jonathan huh are you single?" David asked while holding my hand.

"Uh... No, my girlfriend is- she's in Sweden."

"Aww, that's too bad maybe we can just forget about her for an hour huh what do you say?" he asked me while winking and stroking my hand

"Mary stop that you're making our guest uncomfortable. I'm sorry about him he's a slut."

"Oh, Kat you shouldn't talk about people behind their backs."

"Shut up Mary and help me with Julia here she needs to rest."

"Okay, okay." David waved at me while holding Julia on their shoulder.

I was left alone in the living room with a cat taking a nap on my thigh and the grandfather clock ticking. It was a homey house their couch is very soft and multiple picture frames hung on the wall. There was Julia and her daughter Erica, birthdays, traveling, and even her championships. She was a very supportive mother I can just see it in the pictures.

"I'm sorry I kept you waiting Jo, Julia is very concerned for her daughter that's why she needed consolation. David was a therapist and he proposed to take care of her in the meantime." Kat said while she looks at the room with worry

"You know Julia is a very strong woman it's just when it comes to her daughter she's very emotional."

"I get that, she's a mother, and she wants the best for her daughter."

"Yes, but there's a reason for that. Julia was supposed to have a son before Erica but because of her line of work, she lost him. But when she was given another chance to bear a child she took care of herself and even took a break from work when she was pregnant. That's why she loves Erica so much and I think she's gonna do something stupid when she wakes up. So first let's get you out of that blood-ridden clothes and the bathroom is on the left. She gave me a pair of clothes and a towel

"Are you sure? We just met and it maybe a bit awkward for you."

"Enough formality we already know each other that makes us acquaintances."

"Thanks, Kat" I smiled at her and she smiled at me.

I went to the bathroom and took a shower. It rinsed me off the blood and the smell of rotting flesh and I felt refreshed. I wore the clothes Kat gave me and went out of the bathroom. But then I saw Julia with multiple guns on her.

"I'm gonna go there and rescue Erica! You can't stop me, Kat you already know that!"

"Julia stop it, Jo already said that the school was overrun!" Kat said while holding her hand firmly.

"Julia! I strictly advise you not to do that! Honey, I know you love Erica so much but it's suicide!" David said with a serious tone.

"David is righr Julia! And that school hosts mostly the whole city there would be a flood of zombies waiting for you there!"

"I don't care, Kat! My daughter is in there and I'm gonna get here to safety no matter what!"

"Julia, please don't do this honey!" David said

"David shut the fuck up you don't care about anything!" Julia said

"Julia! Are you even listening? Jo already said that it was a miracle he escaped the school" David said

"Julia, please we can talk about this we all love Erica and I also want to get her back but you're gonna get yourself killed!" Kat said

"Kat I know that already! And I'm prepared to sacrifice myself just for the safety of my daughter! I'm bringing the kid with me. It's the only way he can pay me back without blowing his brains out."

"Julia! But he's just a kid!"

"My daughter is also a kid Kat he knows where the ins and outs of the school he's just gonna guide me."

"It's all right Kat. We maybe just met but I know you're gonna go with whatever it takes." Julia smiled

"But Jo it's dangerous!"

"Kat I know but I want to help Julia and she already said it, it's a way for me to pay her back."

"Then that settles it." Julia gave me a gun

"Let's go, Jo, we'll go there as fast as we can."

"Okay."

We loaded the guns into a bag and put them in the back of the car. Julia asked me where she can go inside I told her about the horde that was on the highway and it was safer to take a different route. When we finished planning I said goodbye to Kat and went inside the car.
