Chapter 03: The Reason

I still thought about my father's action towards Aunty Ur and Vali. After I defeat Manticore, he even gave me a warning to be aware to my own family members.

I meant, I just fight to save my aunt and my cousin. They were still my family members.

Was that wrong? Why did my father treat them as if they were my opponents?

Should I also keep my eyes to Grandpa Rizevim and Uncle Razevan as if they could potentially endanger my life?

I was really conflicted inside my mind. Being transmigrated to the DxD World was supposed to be an interesting chance. Having a great adventure and making relationship with various women that I like should become my activities. But, what I experienced now was the assertion to act like a politician.

Suddenly, I wanted to take a nap. Maybe I would be able to refresh my mind after I do that for one or two hours.

I lied myself on my king size bed and prepared to rest. But, when I was just closing my eyes, I heard that my bedroom door was opened and then closed by someone. It was then followed by a voice of footsteps that seemed to approach me.

"I know you haven't fallen asleep yet, Ronald. Can we talk for a moment?"

Hearing a woman's voice near me, I instantly opened my eyes and woke up from my bed. I could clearly see that it was my mother who entered my bedroom.

My mother took of her witch's hat and put in on my bed. She gave me the instruction to sat on the edge of my bed. After I did what she instructed, she sat next to me and open a conversation with me.

"I see that you currently have something on your mind. WIll you let me know what are you thinking about?" said my mother as she patted my shoulder.

"I-" At first, I didn't want to tell my mother about my thought because it was related to my father. I was affraid that she would get mad at me. But, I then decided to be honest to her after I saw her sincerity to hear my story. "It's about Father, Mom."

"What is it, My Son?"

I began to tell my mother about my father strange activities, starting from trying to kill Vali by throwing him out of the window to arranging me into fight with his pet with Aunty Ur and Vali as the bet.

My mother listened carefully to what I said. She didn't interrupt my words or try to blame me. After I finished telling her about my thoughts, she simply pulled me into her hug and patted my head.

"My Son, you must be very conflicted inside your heart. Therefore, I wouldn't blame you for having such thoughts about your father. However, I should advice you to understand his reasons for doing that."

"Understand Father's reasons?"

I wondered what reason that my father had. Why did he such things to Aunty Ur and Vali? It was too cruel for me. I meant, Vali was only an infant baby, while Aunty Ur was only a human. Why was he so afraid to them?

Desperate for the answer, I gently looked to my mother's eyes with the gaze that demanded it. My mother, who knew what I want, then began to tell me about her point of views.

"The thing that your father want is pretty simple. He wanted for the best for your future."

I still couldn't understand what my mother told me about. For the best of my future? What kind of best then?

My mother, who caught a confusion on my expression, continued to explain me about my father's reason.

"My son, you should be aware that we live in a competitive environment. Every living-being would surely compete against the others. You should understand that not every competition would go well. Some living-beings would do dirty tricks to bring down their competitors."

My mother's last words brought me to the peak of confusion. I instantly argued to her because I didn't see any correlation between her words and my father's actions.

"But, I don't see the relationship between competition and my father's deeds to Aunty Ur and Vali. I see they were unmatched." I argued.

My mother let go of her hands and looked at me with serious gaze. "My son, if you can't limit your relationship to your family members aside your parents, then they will utilize you as their tool to achieve their own ambitions."

"Utilizing me as a tool? Why?" Now, my positive thought towards my family members began to erode. I started to think what my mother said was rational.

"Yes, My Son." My mother took a scroll from her dimensional storage. "This is the story of Sima Yi's Coup D'Etat against Cao Shuang. I would tell this to you, so you can relate with what I mean."

My mother then began to tell me the enmity between Sima Yi, my predecessor, and Cao Shuang, the regent of Cao Fang, the Emperor of the Western Wei.

Western Wei? Hearing such name made me remembering about Dynasty Warriors. I used to play that game on my previous life.

However, I didn't know who was this Cao Shuang. The last version that I played was Dynasty Warriors 6, so I thought that he was probably the new character from the latest series.

My mother told me that Cao Shuang misused his position as a regent for seeking his own pleasures. He excessively drank alcohol and hunting instead of training his troops and subordinates. He even absorbed all of the power for himself when Sima Yi fell ill. Then, he placed numerous troops to attempt oppressing Sima Yi's position to the lowest point.

Alright, i hated this Cao Shuang. Only from hearing my mother's story, I could value that he was such an incompetent and greed person.

When my mother told me that Sima Yi later execute him, I didn't feel any pity for Cao Shuang. On the contrary, I felt that he deserved for being treated like that.

"He's such a living burden for a glorious kingdom like Cao Wei! I think that Sima Yi's decision to execute him is the best!" I couldn't control myself to mock Cao Shuang.

"Indeed, I also get annoyed to Cao Shuang's incompetency and greed." My mother looked straight to my eyes. "Now, can you understand why I told you this story?"

"Uhm...Mom wants me to understand the importance of setting limitations towards my relatives." I gave my mother the answer based on what I understood about Cao Shuang's story.

"That's right, My Son. Cao Fang entrusted the regent position to Cao Shuang because the emperor saw him as a fellow Cao Clan member. However, Cao Shuang then misused his position to please himself. The point is, your father simply didn't want you to be manipulated an utilized as a tool by your relatives. We don't know what's inside their minds. Therefore, it's best for you to keep your eyes tightly on them. Don't get easily lulled by them. Do you understand?"

"Yes I understand, Mom."

"It's not like I forbid you to interact with your other relatives, Son. But, you should prioritize your own life before the other people."

My mother smiled after she finished giving advice to me. She was so nice, yet strict on the same time.

"Alright, Mom. I get your point."

"Good, Ronald. Now, let's we have our lunch together. Your father and the other Lucifer clan members should be on the dining room already. Be sure that you reconcile with your father, okay?!"

"Yes, Mom!"

I stood up and quickly run to the dining room. The first thing that I wanted to do was asking for my father's forgiveness. I didn't even give him the chance to explain his reason since I was blinded by my own thought.

Yes, I was such an ignorant person. However, thanks to my mother's advice, I can understand my father's action.

Now, I would try my best to restore my relationship with Father.
