"42!"

"Kaigaku it's time for dinner"

"Coming!"

The boy Kaigaku placed the used Bokken he was swinging on the branch of a tree to keep it away from anyone who would want to take it.

'Its been ten years and still no sign of that system.'

Now this young boy was Kaigaku originally his old name was different but after living in the world of Demon Slayer for 10 years he had abandoned his old name and life, and now he was training to at least survive the cruel reality of this world.

He wasn't just reincarnated into a world filled with demons, he was reincarnated into the body of one of the "Main" villains who turned out to be nothing but fodder despite being part of the Upper Moons due to plot.

But now at the ever since he was at the age of 6 he was training his body as around that age was when he met the future Stone Hashira Himejima Gyomei who was currently in the age of 17 and was nothing but a humble monk who takes care of orphans.

Kaigaku wasn't an orphan he did have parents but his father was just a part of the army who had fun with his mother who was a red light district worker, she never cared for Kaigaku she barely even fed him it was a miracle that he didn't starve to death so when he was old enough he ran and somehow he met Gyomei and the other 8 children after trying to steal the offerings from one of the statue's in run down temple.

But instead of chasing him away Gyomei took him in and that was four years ago, and now he had a new family of 8 siblings and one older brother and he was considered the second oldest as he was ten years old this the oldest among the children.

At the age of seven he would go down to the village and do lots of odd jobs, from helping people clean there houses removing the snow from the rooftops during winter and sometimes help with the restaurants which he would always get paid with left over food which mostly consisted of a quarter of the leftover cold rice from the pot and soggy cold noodles and sometimes if he was lucky even some broth.

He would bring it home to the temple and since he was getting money from the jobs he does and Gyomei who did his own jobs they were all able to eat well, and Gyomei instead of being skinny and tall was actually quite bulkly since he was able to eat instead of starving himself just to feed the other children.

"So Aniki what's for dinner?"

Kaigaku asked Gyomei who was placicng bowls on the ground with the help of the other children.

"Well we still had rice from yesterday and since you caught two fishes from the river I decided to run one and add the other one into a soup."

"Let me guess salt and sea weed are the only other ingredients?"

"Don't be like that Kaigaku, it's a blessing that were even able to get salt and none of the dirty kind."

What Gyomei was saying is true, it was currently the Meiji Era specifically the year 1903 and Kaigaku hasn't seen actual clear salt ever since he was reincarnated. It was either dirty brown salt or slightly black salt.

(A/N Demon slayer takes place in the Taisho Era I don't know which exact year so I decided to stay simple so tanjiros journey won't begin till 1913 during one year after the beginning of the Taisho Era which when he will exactly be 13 years old)

"Yeah Kaigaku-Nii! You should really be thankful!"

"Should I remind you who tried using my money to buy mochi when I was saving for that used up Bokken, Hmm Taro?"

"Ehehe..."

Taro was one of the right children he was 7 years old and he had an addiction to sweets, the other children we're

Mizuki a stoic quiet girl who was at age of 8, Kento an adventurous 5 year old,Taiga a girl only one year younger than Kaigaku, the twins Rumi and Bumi who were both 7, Tanaka who just like his name was quite normal and the youngest who had just turned 4 a few days ago was Sayo.

"Don't forget to burn the wisteria essence later Kaigaku."

"Don't worry I won't forget Aniki"

"Mhm, now gather around let's eat"

Normally meals they had we're nothing but dried kelp and a single fish they would split 9 ways and Gyomei who would eat almost nothing, but now everyone had at least one bowl of rice, a scoop of the soup and either a piece of the roasted or boiled fish.

After a short prayer from Gyomei thanking Kami and Ukemochi for the meal, they began eating it was far from a quiet dinner it the other children we're already planning on what they were going to do while Kaigaku reminded them of something crucial.

"We're going back to studying tomorrow."

"" Awwww ""

Among all the children and Gyomei Kaigaku was the only one the ability to both read and write Kanji,Hiragana,Katakana and Romaji. And the reason for how he was able to do that was because he needed to learn it to even work in the restaurants in the village and since he had some basic knowledge of Kanji from his past life it only took him 2 years to learn all of them.

"Why do we even need to learn how to write!?"

"Be understanding Taro, once you all grow up and move you'll be able to read and write which is a blessing of a skill."

"That's right don't you want to be a big shot in the cities? How would you do that if you couldn't read or right?"

"Kaigaku-Nii Taro would probably have his teeth rot as soon as he stepped into he city."

"M-Mizuki!?"

It was a lively dinner something Kaigaku cherished, he wasn't the original Kaigaku he was different he was thankful he had met these people. He didn't know much about the events in the manga and even if he did he has forgotten most of the details from the anime since it has been 10 years since he had even watched it.

But he knew something would happen to the children that would cause Gyomei to become the Stone Hashira, he didn't know if they would die or get killed but he was sure he wouldn't let that happen in his watch.

It was the very reason that he bought the Bokken, he needed to train and even now he was only able to do 70 swings before his arms would go numb.

"Alright all of you head to sleep, Kaigaku don't forget to burn the essence I'll go clean the bowls int he nearby river."

"You got it Aniki."

But before that I'll just bring something up, this is a single world fanfic If it turns into a multiverse fanfic it would take awhile and any future abilities he would get won't be too over powered. He won't get Sun Breathing I don't want this to be too cliche so he'll get something different.

The moon was high up in the sky it was midnight and everyone had went to sleep.

"64!"

Everyone except Kaigaku who was swinging his Bokken, he could already feel nod arm going numb but despite that he kept swinging and swinging.

But before he could even reach 70 he fell to his knees exhausted with a conflicted and teary expression.

"G-Goddamn it!"

Kaigaku was far from a prodigy, he knew that all this training would definitely stunt his growth so he doesn't lift anything too heavy and instead does calisthenics and practices his swings, but despite all that his arm strength was pathetic his limbs would easily get tired yet instead of being sad or depressed he took it as a form of motivation.

Since he knew the peak of this world was Yoriichi someone who was born special someone naturally strong, so Kaigaku's goal was to surpass Yoriichi which he believed was an easy task when he got reincarnated due to his one wish.

"WHERE THE HELL IS IT!?!"

Before reincarnating Kaigaku was in the after life waiting in line with other souls to either go to heaven hell or reincarnate, he picked reincarnation and due to his karma he was given two mediocre wishes.

Yet he didn't want that back then he was greedy and instead asked for one wish, and that was the wish for a system that would help him grow strong and learn. But he forgot one crucial part of his wish.

"Where the hell is it..."

It was when and how he would obtain said system, all he said was to have a system nothing else it was his own foolishness that got him not only thrown in a dangerous world but in the body of someone with so much bad luck.

"Ho! Look at this!"

And said bad luck was now playing it's role, as Kaigaku turned to meet the gaze of two demons that were looking at him with hunger.
