The Psychopaths

I walked outside the house to collect the newspaper. As soon as I saw the headline, I was pleased. My name was written in bold letters for my discovery.

I put the newspaper on top of the dining table and advanced to my room. After packing my bag, and making breakfast, I headed to college.

As I passed through the halls of the college, everyone around me started gossiping. I wasn't fond of this fame, however, it still felt good to be admired every once in a while. I walked into my class.

The lectures started differently this time. Instead of starting with the same set of information, the teachers made sure that I was well introduced in the lectures. Every other second, I'd be praised for my work. Ah! The enlightenment of these fools.

While all of this was going on, I took the time to observe each and every one in the class. Some were busy writing notes, while some were busy talking. However, one of them, stared out of the window; and that was Yagami. He was different from the rest, no doubt, but was he the psychopath I was looking for?

During lunch break, I approached Light and asked him a simple question.

"Hey Light. What would you do if you had the opportunity to kill anyone, by writing their name in a book?"

Light who was seated, turned his head to face me. With a smile, he replied, "I would burn that book of course."

He was lying through his teeth. Everything he was portraying himself to be was false. Over the course of my entire life, I hated him, not realising how similar we were. One look and I could tell, he was the ideal psychopath.
