CHAPTER 8: Saving someone you loved

After a few minutes of driving you noticed that Leah is silent as you looked at her to be sleeping silently.

"When she sleeps she is like an angel but when she opens her mouth, she's such a demon" you said under your breath as you focused on driving more.

After 4 hours of uneventful events which you are happy about given the last time you rode a car is a shitshow.

"Hi..morning." as she yawns and started looking at the window to see the same imagery of destroyed cars and abandoned buildings

"I wish you never wake up" you look at her with annoyed look

"That's not very niceee" she said with a smile knowing it was just the usual banter between you.

"You know, you are very trusting..sleeping besides a stranger who is using your car" you laughed and look at her to give a smile

"I thought we are friends?!" she said with a exaggerated shocking expression before she giggles and laughs at you

"I wish i never said that" you sighs and started to tire down from the driving.

"Getting tired? why not sleep on my lap" she smiles suggestively and pats her lap before she laughs again

"You really don't take me seriously right?" you ask with a blank tone

"Omg!! how do you know?" another exaggerated look coming from her before she smiles at you

"If i'm gonna rape you, can you even defend yourself?" you blurted out as you realize what you just said

"Sorry...nevermind that" you added quickly and looked back at the road

"So you are planning, what a naughty boy" she smiles and laughs as usual with a cherry tone

"Of course, i can defeat you if that's what you wanted to know" she added with a smile as you look at her and back to the street. You got annoyed again but quickly dissipates again as you see her cherry smile.

"Hey so what are you planning to do?" you ask

"Probably tease you until the end of earth" she smiles and looks at the window.

"Of course," as you sighs as you give up trying to have a normal conversation with her

"So do you have any items?" she ask which surprises you by a lot as you clears your throat.

"I have 3, how about you" as you see her inspecting you very clearly and eying for any items.

"Don't say your gonna kill me" but you were met by a silence which produces a nervous laugh coming from you as she continued looking at your body and face in quick succession.

"Hey!" you shouted to gained her attention as she wakes up from a trance

"Why are you staring so hard?" with a surprised look coming from her as she flashes a smile.

"Nothing, i was just pretty impressed" with a vague reply coming from her as you scratches your head with confusion as you decided to ignore it once again

"How about you?" you ask as she was surprised from your question and contemplating whether she answers or not

"3 items too" with a soft voice that you can barely hear it.

"Good, at least you are not gonna be a damsel in distress" a rather offensive remark coming from you as she smiles but you can see veins popping from anger. You might have triggered her

"Wow!!, you think woman are weak and need to be protected?!" as her voice grows louder as her anger can be clearly seen.

"Hey hey, don't be angry that's how men are evolve to perceive any woman...to be protected" you replied as you try to diffuse the discussion but Leah won't go of the topic as she presses on

"oh no, I'm a woman help me" she said with a lousy tone and tried to be sarcastic as possible as she flails her arms around

"I protect because i care about you and not because i think your weak... it's a sense of duty" you protested as silence surrounds the car. You were flushed and embarrass to continue speaking to her as Leah grows silent.

"Sorry.." she said with an apologetic tone as she bows and returns to looking at the window

"I already failed once and im not failing again.." you said pretty sadly as it reminds you of Cassandra, Alex, John, and Arvin and deserting them

"I...im not a good human being..." you muttered as you drive

After 2 hours of unbearable silence and a rather boring and awkward ride. You finally returned to your home town.

"So we are finally here...well i gotta go, thanks for the car" you said as you get out of the car and waves her goodbye and smiles at her. You didn't get any replies back as you look back to see Leah on the driver's seat as she drives off.

"I hope she will be fine, well i can just find her with the help of G7" you said to yourself as you make it through the town, and to your surprise, it is guarded by the military with bright lights in the skyscrapers and people running in a hurry. As you walk towards the checkpoint only to be stopped by an officer

"Stop there young man" said the officer with a demanding tone

"Im David, David Jackson my parents live here" you replied

"Hmm.." as he checks some files and after a few minutes he smiles " welcome David Jackson, you can enter now after answering some questions" he smiled but his tone is as cold as steel with his strong build that can overpower any man you have ever met

"So do you have an item?" the officer ask as he writes something on the files

"Items? you mean that shiny things coming from people?" as you tried feigning ignorance as best as you can with your acting which if you ask yourself to be great" i wish i have that" you continued as the officer seems convinced enough

"Where are you from?" as the officer writes something on the files

"Oh i live in the capital before the invasion and i reach here by traveling with my friend" you smiled as it reminds your banter with Leah now that you miss her badly and worried about Cassandra and the others

"Did you ever met this monster?"

"yes..pretty terrifying if you ask me" as you fake your frightened look as you shake your legs

"Hmmm" the officer again reads some files until he grabs something on his belt at the back as you step back.

"What are you doing?" you ask panicky as you step back

As he rushes towards you while you tried punching him in the shoulders to incapacitate him as he punches your cheek as you feel dizzy as he punches you again in the cheeks as you fall down but you were able to get up as you rush to punch for the kill but he was able to sidestep you and kicks your liver as you fall down as you crutch your liver from the intense pain. The officer crouched near you with a smile and put a handcuffs at your arms as you passed out from the intense pain.

You wake up and a metal room with a single bulb swinging on the room. A room for police interrogation in any movie you have ever seen. As you see a bald and black-skinned officer with scars on his cheek and a muscular body.

"Kid, you better spill the beans now" said the officer with a crooked smile as he puffs a smoke in your face.

"Why did i do?" bewildered by the happenings

"Its just that you didn't tell the truth"

"What do you meann?"

"Just..shut up, tell me who you really are" he demanded as he slams his hands in the table

"or this will get dirty" he looked at you intensely as he cracks his hands that the noise echoed in the room.

"Ok fine...i have 4 items." you said softly as you looked at the ground.

"Specify.." he said a rough voice

"3 Atlas and 1 Orion" you replied as you tried to temper with the cuffs

"Explain them one by one" he said aggressively with each tone becoming louder and louder

"Do you think i will trade you my items? you smirked as you successfully destroyed the cuffs with your strengthen arm as you bashed it to the chair you're sitting on as it creates a loud bang.

"So you want it dirty eh?" he readied himself as he puts his arms up in a guarding position

"No, i want to meet my parents"

"Really? do you think ill believe you?" he laughed loudly

"Yes or do i need to break your bones first?" you threaten him while he ignored it as he moves in to punch you as you received the punch by punching it with your strengthen arm as fists connect and to the officer's surprise as it impacts breaks his arm and fractures the elbow. He shouted in agony and pain as he looks at you with intense disdain as he keeps on cursing at you. You crouch near him and whispered

"Does it hurt?" you ask with extreme sarcasm as your smile nearly reaches your cheeks humiliating him even more. You don't know if he will bite later but it's better than to be stuck in a prison. You open the door and walked towards it casually as you walk past soldiers as they were perplexed. After you walked outside the base, you run towards your house to find it deserted and almost destroyed. You feel extreme anxiety and panic as you rush towards the basement door
