Temple Call

Early the next day, the priest of Oasis came knocking. He was a man of experience, having gray hair and nice looks, his looks depict a man in his 70s.....

This being his second visit to the abode of the couples but his countenance this time came with a worried expression.

"I saw the light of Oasis lit up last night and made haste to check on the liberator of the human race. Hope all is well?"

Kairu narrated the ordeal of last night to him, briefing every single detail of his experience and the details narrated by kafas.

The priest was so shocked, with his mouth agape and eyes depicting a troubled expression.

"I need to take him with me to the Temple," replied the uneased priest.

**Boooom**

The word from the priest took Kairu by surprise...

His mouth shaking as he tried to mutter some words...

"But...but.."

"But the last time you came, you gave us an assurance of him staying for at least ten years, why the haste now?"

"It's for his safety," the priest replied.

"The child needs the temple's protection and an experienced hand in this times, for time(s) have changed and Dracos won't relent knowing very well that he's still a kid and much more vulnerable now that he had no experience nor skill of the sacred spear."

Hearing those words from the priest, Yura clings harder to kafas...

"But we can't just let him go, he's too young and needs his mother's care and protection, and you don't expect me to part ways with my only child this early, do you?" Yura retorted, her eyes full of tears flowing freely and a worried expression for her son can be seen.

**Squinting**

"What's that on the child's left hand?" the priest ever searching eyes saw the grip of Dracos.

"That's a mark that came from last night's drama that took place between him and Dracos, it's a mark made by Dracos' grip"kairu quickly responded to the question.

"I need to take him to the temple at once, his power is being drained by this mark made by Dracos," the priest exclaimed with horror written all over his countenance.

Kairu and Yura were becoming more confused by the words of the priest.

**Hesitating for a while before speaking up**

"How's that so?"Yura asked, not wanting to let go but this new twist is making her feel unease.

"That mark is known as Dracos' messenger; a mark always placed on his most dreaded foe. It's a power drainer, making the bearer weak for his next attack," the priest explains.

"According to legend, Dracos will attack the bearer of his mark three days after placing the drainer on him and will smith him by the edge of his sword and no resistance, no help will be found for that foe; for all assistance has been blocked successfully by the drainer," the priest emphasizes...

**Hesitating for a while**

"Remember, I warned you earlier of resisting when the time comes for him to leave you and I told you of the consequences attached to your resistance, please do the right thing now."

**Boom**

The words of the priest struck a fatal blow on Yura...

"That can't be the fate of my son, that won't be, Oasis won't permit that to happen!!!"Yura screamed, lamenting and weeping and clinging tight to Kafas.

"It won't happen as long as the necessary rituals are performed to stop the drainer," the priest replied calmly, trying to bring Yura to tranquility.

"Take him with you, he's my son and I won't let him die without a fight," Kairu replied with a worried expression.

"Please, let me prepare some luggage and food for his travel," kafas' worried mother, Yura finally gave in to the request of the priest...

**The Temple**

On getting to the temple, kafas was so tired as the mark of Dracos on his left hand was gradually draining the life out of me.

"Thank the Gods that the priest of Oasis came so early to my aid", kafas taught in his little mind.

The temple was more like a castle built on top of the highest mountain of Upawa kingdom.

Truth is, there are three temples; the temple of the sun which happens to be the one kafas was headed to.

The second temple is known as the flaming spear and it's founded on an island, while the third is the temple of Oasis; where the famous 'dagger of immortality' is kept amongst Men; it is the weapon which caused the chaos in the first place...

"What am I going to be doing here, "kafas asked the old priest.

"Nothing much son, just a little of meditation and control of your inner strength", replied the priest with a grin on his face.

The old priest who is in charge of the temple affairs is known as Master kino...

"We're finally home, Umar will take you to your room where you can have some rest before the preparation of the ritual which will commence in the evening, "master kino said with a smile.

Looking around from where he was, kafas noticed that the magnificent temple was filled with other young priests and also young warriors (at the age of 15-21) training hard to prepare themselves for the task of protecting the kingdom.

"Umar, come take kafas to his room to rest", master kino called out to a young warrior who happened to be a lad in his twenties.

**Bowing down**

"Yes, Master kino."

"This way please", Umar said, taking the lead.

"E..eh..., are you the liberator?"Umar asked, scratching his head.

"I only came here to be treated of this killer in my left hand, "kafas showing him the mark of Dracos.

"Oh, I see,... my bad," you know...Umar continued.... we've been expecting the liberator today since the priest went out in a hurry, claiming he's in danger due to the bright light that shone up to the sky last night."

**Sigh**

"Oh! that, I guess no one is a stranger to that."

**At the room entrance**

"We're here already, here's your room, have some good rest till evening," Umar said while opening a door in the corridor with a set of keys.

"Okay, thanks, later then," with worry written all over him as he thought of how life would be living in a temple.

Getting inside, kafas shut the door behind him...
