Cultivation Online is a novel that does what it is supposed to do, there is nothing revolutionary about this webnovel however, where this novel does excel in is using the common tropes, we have seen a million times before and twisting in a way that makes it feel somewhat new. There are issues with this webnovel but if I had to take a look at the whole picture, I would say that it achieved in what I wanted with this novel going in, which is to be entertained. There are some issues with this novel though. The webnovel is written in an elementary way where the grammar, sentence structure, as well as character dialogue gives off the impression of a novel meant for tweens and younger. You may have issues with the MC in regard to how naive/ dumb he seems, but it was done intentionally as a way to highlight the character's growth later in the novel with a story element meant to give a twist, though since this is a recent development, it is yet to be seen how well the author will pull this off. The author is too heavy-handed in the haram way too early, instead of spreading them out along the novel in different areas, though you could argue the difference between his "official girlfriends" and the girls that are following him or crushing on him. The MC is also too OP in my opinion and while there are OP characters in other novels that can balance this well, the protagonist in Cultivation Online never struggles or has to put much effort into anything, which doesn't give him much character growth to the point where he can cruise through the story too easily.
Just finished up to date and I'm astounded... The novel is well written so far, and i like it way more than dual cultivation. Sure i like reading SY's story, but his values and mine are super different and i can relate far better to Tian Yuan, plus there's more focus on adventuring and combat in this novel. I can def appreciate the debauchery that SY brings to the table... But sometimes you wanna watch a cinnamon roll grow up to become a man and face mighty foes to protect his loved ones
To be honest, I've read few novels like this. Everything is moving forward at a steady pace. No backtracks. No time skips. No losing. The mc is like Saitama in a way. Always able to overcome obsatcles. Moving towards the point where he one hit k.o. somebody. It is a light read. All of the chapters are just enough to catch your attention. The character development is decent. Not too much backstory. For me, that is a plus. I don't like when authors waste 30 chapters on a psychological problem of a character but fail to show that in dialogue and day to day actions.
