Does It Get Weirder?

I was shook awake by someone. I sat up straight and rubbed my eyes

"What-"

My mouth was covered by a hand

"Shh, Coral, You don't want to wake the whole entire neighborhood do you?"

I pulled off the hand on my mouth: "Alice?"

Alice Priestley was my best friend.

"Duh, anyways come quickly, I want to show you something!"

The both of us jumped out of the window and snuck towards Alice's house.

"So what did you want to show me?"

Alice Opened her dresser and took out a bronze Dagger : "This"

I gasped: "H-h-how did you get it?

Alice Shrugged: " I just found it lying on my bed when I came home, it had a note saying 'For Alice' weird ri…Uh, Coral? Your face looks pale…

I took a shaky breath: " I-I Have something to show you too."

I jumped out of Alice's room window and ran back to my house. I pushed open the window in my room and stood face to face with my mum.

"M-m-mum, you h-had a spare key?"

Mum sighed: " Coral, We need to talk. Where have you been by the way?"

"B-but mum! This is very important! Can we talk tomorrow?"

"NO! This is urgent. It is related to the monsters that have been chasing you"

"Mum, later okay?"

"Just…Coral, please"

I sighed: " Okay fine…"

Mum sat down on my bed: "Remember last week…"

"Y-yeah." I shuddered when I recalled the details of the monster attack that had occurred.

Alice ran down the valley, her face was filled with fright.

"What happened?" I asked, running to her.

"B-b-beast." Alice stammered as she continued running, I followed her.

Suddenly, I sensed something behind me, I ran faster. I didn't dare look back because I was terrified to look at what horror was behind me.

We raced past the different roads, we had no idea where we were going but we didn't care. After all the monsters we had faced during childhood, we knew it was unwise to stop.

Alice skidded to a halt. I did the same. We had run into a dead end.

I looked back, the monster was a half bull half human

Mum exhaled sharply: "Yes…that monster…he isn't a normal monster…he is perhaps one of the most dangerous monster you dem-I mean you kids can face. "

I tried to shake of the image of the monster as mom continued to talk.

"-So I've decided to send you to the camp your father-"

"My father? The one who you said is living below the sea but not…you know…"

"No, I don't know Coral."

I rolled my eyes: "Ha ha, very funny. So what were you about to say."

"So, as I was saying, before I was rudely interrupted," Mum continued, glaring at me, "I have decided to send you to the camp your father said I should send you to when you are 16 years old…say, your birthday is next week Monday right?"

I looked at the calendar hanging on the wall besides my desk: "Yeah…December 17…I'll be 16 this year."

"Exactly! Your father had said that once you near the age of 16, you attract more monsters than usual, and more powerful ones, that's why sending you to the camp is the best idea."

"So what's your point here?

"DO NOT GO OUT ALONE UNTIL YOU ARE SAFELY IN THE CAMP. DO. YOU. UNDERSTAND?"

I nearly jumped out of my bed when she screamed that.

"O-okay, mum…"

Mum stood up and went for the door, but before she went out she turned around and whispered: "Go to Alice's house, someone will pick you two up."

I looked up at my mum in shock as she closed the door behind her.

So she tells me to not go out alone and then to tells me to go to Alice's house?

I look down. My father who I had never met really told my mum all this? How did my father know about all the monsters. I gripped my pendant tight. My mum had said that this pendant was given to me by my father. It was Gold necklace with a golden trident as a charm.
