Finding a new home

After arriving in Los Angeles I landed behind my old home I grew up in on my old earth. Behind my old house existed a gravel road that made its way to a nearby paved road.

Everything seemed identical to when I had last seen it. I had flown around the area a little bit before making my way here. It was very nostalgic even though I had only been away from the city for about a week.

Almost every place I could think of existed here in some form or another. Different names, different colors, different people, and even different histories at times. It was my own personal bizzaro city.

I couldn't help but wonder if this parallel world had a version of me from my last life. Technically my old world is part of the DC multiverse even if it had no super powers except for in comics, movies, and tv.

There was also this feeling as if someone was always watching me here. No matter where I went, like the city was actually alive and had it's eyes on me. I couldn't go anywhere without being somewhat uncomfortable.

After looking around and noticing the coast was clear, I willed my costume away and then made my way around to the front of the house and stopped in front of the door before knocking.

Nobody answered. I knew someone was home because I can sense a ki signature inside. I knocked again, this time a little louder. It was at the moment that I saw movement near a front window. Not long after that, the door started to open.

To my dismay it was someone I didn't recognize at all. Some old robust black lady opened the door to a crack with the top chain lock still in place. "What can I do for you handsome?" She asked as she looked through the crack of the door.

"ah, yes. um, I think I used to know someone that lived here. Can you tell me if you have always lived here or tell me if there was a previous owner? If there was, id like to get in contact with them".

The older lady seemed to be thinking about something before replying to me. "Honey, Ive lived here for about 5 years now. I don't have an address, but I do have the previous owners number if they haven't changed it yet. Would that be okay?"

I nodded "Yes, that will be fine, thank you."

She then closed the door and left me standing there for a little over 3 minutes before coming back to door and handing me a piece of paper through the crack. "You can reach the previous owner with the number written there hopefully, I think I remember him saying he was moving to Blüdhaven or maybe it was Gotham? I just remember it was one of those dangerous cities, because I wondered why a person would move there if they already lived in such a wonderful place such as Los Angeles. Yeah, we have the lizard aliens here and there is talk of demons walking among us, but other than that It's pretty nice."

Lizard aliens? She sounds a little crazy, then again, this is the DC universe. It could be possible. After thanking her, I pocketed the number and left the house.

After flying around the city for close to an hour, I noticed a huge difference between it and Gotham. In Gotham I could walk down the street and see crime happening in front of my eyes. Here, not so much.

LA has a drug, homeless, and other problems, but Id be lying if I said I cared enough to stop such crimes. Not only that, I need a city I can get stronger in.

Not many heavy hitters here unless you count Lucifer Morningstar and I don't even know if he really exists here and I don't really want to find out. I can't stay in Batman's territory forever, but LA doesn't seem to be the place to go either.

I gave up on Cali for now and thought back to the number the lady at my old house gave me. Bludhaven was mentioned by her. It's a place that has crime just as bad as Gotham, but doesn't have a Hero yet.

Nightwing aka Dick Grayson later ends up being a Hero for that area, but technically he's still Robin here at this moment and nobody is protecting that city.

Not only that, If I live there, I will be able to visit the kids at the orphanage more often, because it would only be a 30 minute drive or a couple minute fly to and from Gotham.

Making up my mind, I flew to Bludhaven. If this place doesn't do it for me, I don't know what I will do. Probably go back to Gotham until I find something better. Let's hope this won't also be a waste of time.

On the way to BludHaven I flew past Metropolis and then a bit later Gotham, leaving Gotham and entering Bludhaven, not much changed really when it came to scenery as opposed to the difference between Metropolis and Gotham.

Bludhaven even had a few blimps in the sky that I could lay my head like Gotham. After spending a week in Gotham, it started to feel comfortable. Maybe it will be the same for me here since it's not much different?

It was getting late and I was tired. Id have to check the City out tomorrow. For now I will lay down and get some rest.

Spotting a nearby blimp, I flew up and laid down in the carriage. Not long after closing my eyes, I fell asleep to the sound of screams, alarms, and emergency vehicles in the distance. This already felt like home.

If this place is as bad as Gotham, I have a lot of work on my hands.

Sorry future Nightwing, but the early bird gets the worm.
