CHAPTER 7

"Is she going to be ok?"

Bree opened her eyes to see Jace sitted next to her with her hand in his. She felt a smile on her face, it lessened the pain alittle, though not for long.

"You are awake" He said with a wide smile.

She felt happy though she knew that he only cared about the child.

"What happened?" she asked.

"It's nothing big. The doctor said you are having pains due to the pregnancy, but it's going to be alright" he said with his right hand on her cheeck.

"Thank you" A tear rolled down her right cheeck. He wiped it off and pulled her to his chest.

The next morning, Bree woke up with Jace besides. He looked so handsome and peaceful and she loved it.

"You shouldn't stare at me that much" Said Jace with his eyes still closed.

"What? Why would I do that?" She said while getting off the bed. He pulled her and held her between his arms.

"You will stay right here" He said.

She thanked God for the pains. She loved every single moment she spent with and wished it never came to an end. Her phone rang.

"Hello"

"What?" She immediately jumped out of the bed.

"Hey, are you ok?" Asked Jace wondering why her mood changed all over a sudden.

"My mother" She said and rushed out.

"How is she?" Bree asked the doctor.

"She is ok, for now"

Bree looked at her mother with tears rolling down her cheeck.

"Doctor please save my mother" She lay her head on the patient's belly and cried.

"We need to carry out surgery as soon as possible" The doctor said and walked out.

Bree later came out of the ICU and met with her brother.

"Hey" She said as she ran to hug him.

"Sis, How is mom?" He asked

"She needs surgery but i don't have the money yet"

"I have paid the bills"

"How? Where did you get all that money?"

"My boss helped me out. He is a really good man. He even asked me not to pay him back" He said with a smile.

"But Kevin, you should have told me first, What if he or she comes for it later"

"He is a really good man, besides he is very rich"

"Ok, you go and check on mom"

Bree stood outside the ICU blaming herself when she noticed Jace standing besides her.

"Hey" He said

"I didn't expect you to come" She said as she sat on the bench.

"How is she?"

"The doctor said she is ok"

"You look tired, go get some rest"

"How can I? I have failed my whole family and myself"

"You shouldn't say that" He hugged her.

"Mom guess wat" Kevin said with tears in his eyes "I passed with A's. Oh Bree is here too and I'm sure you will be happy when you see her 'cause she's gained some weight, I believe she is doing well" He lifted her hand and placed it on his lips.

"Mom" he sobbed "You need to wake up" While he cried, he noticed her index finger move.

"Mom, Mom, hold on let me call the doctor" He ran out.

"Bree" He found her being embraced.

"Yeah?" She responded as she wiped her tears.

"Boss? What are you doing here?" He asked looking suprised.

"Is he....? You are kidding, right?" She asked while looking at the both of them one after the other.

"Yeah, I've worked for him for three months. How do you guys know each other?"

"Aahhh...um...why did you call me earlier" She asked avoiding the question.

"Oh mom is awake" She immediately ran to the ICU as Kevin followed her.

"Mom" She called with tears rolling down her cheecks.

"My babies" Said Mrs Laines as she opened her arms and her kids fell in them.

Jace stood at the door watching them. He recalled his wife and child the day they died.

"I think this will look beter on her" Jace said to the jewelry.

"Very much, sir"

He received a phone call from the hospital and he left immediately.

"Are they ok?" He asked the doctor immediately he arrived.

"I'm sorry, we've lost them"

He hates himself so much for not having been there, maybe he could have saved or maybe he would have died instead. A tear dropped from his left eye and someone wiped it making him snap out of his thoughts.

"Are you ok?" Asked Bree

"Yeah" He looked around with his eyes for Mrs Laines but couldn't see her.

"She's been taken to the operating room" Said Bree knowing what he planned to ask.

"You look exhausted, let me take you home" He said ad he held her hand and they walked out of the building.

"Thanks for today" Said Bree with a smile just after they arrived at home.

He moved closer to her, put his hands on her shoulders and looked deep in her eyes.

"You don't have to thank me"

They looked into each other's eyes for about two seconds. He then leaned forward and kissed her lips, she kissed him back. He moved his hands from her shoulders to her waist and pulled her closer whereas she moved her right index finger through his hair to his ear and down to his chest and played with his nipple. He lifted her up with her legs around his waist and took her up the stairs to his room and put her on the bed. He lay on top of her and kissed her from her ear to her neck and back to her lips with his hand moving through her thigh.

She loved this, it helped her feel better. He knew exactly what she wanted and when she wanted it.

Bree lay in her bed still sleeping when she felt a pair of lips meet her cheeck. She smiled knowing exactly who they belonged to. She woke to see Jace sitting next to her.

"Here, have some breakfast" He said handing her a tray of soft scrambled eggs with smoked sablefish and trout roe.

"Thank you" She smiled.
