Breathing Blue

On a beautiful night as spring began, a woman was rushed to the hospital with her flustered husband beside her. She was going into labour and three hours later, two baby girls were born to the unlikely couple. They went home soon after, their little family feeling complete. The babies looked nothing like each other but the parents quickly realised how strong their bond was. The older would get fussy and the younger would wail if ever they were separated. They cooed and awed and found it adorable. Unbeknownst to the happy couple, the older was born with the power to protect and ultimately, destroy. Something they would find out the hard way.

"Eeeeeeeeeek. That is so hot!" Leah squeals loudly when Isa is done with her story about 'my husband'.

"Who's hot?" Em asks, poking her head inside my room.

"Snow's husband," Leah answers simply. Em raises a brow at this, shrugging before flopping down face first onto the bed.

"You have a husband and you didn't think to tell me?" She questions seriously, looking up at me with betrayal in her eyes. I immediately feel horrible.

"I'm so sorry Em, I didn't th...," I start before she bursts out laughing.

"Oh Snow, you're so easy its funny," she says amusedly.

I flush red throwing a pillow at her as the others double over in laughter. Yep, evil witch.

"Anyway, who is this husband of yours?" She asks once she sobers up. I roll my eyes.

"He's not my husband Em. I don't even know the guy!" I exclaim, tired of hearing them call him that.

"Tsk tsk pet, you shouldn't deny your husband so early into your marriage," Isa chides playfully, her eyes twinkling mischievously. I roll my eyes and get off the bed.

"Whatever, I'm gonna be late for work," I say, walking to my closet to change. I put on a knee-length, black, pencil skirt, the only black thing I own, and tuck in a long sleeved white blouse. Standard uniform.

I asked the manager a hundred times if I could just come in in a pair of sweats. If looks could kill, I'd have died a hundred times. I slip into a pair of grey converse shoes, in content. At least we compromised on that. I throw my hair up into a messy bun as I walk out of the closet.

"Why do you need a job anyway?" Isa asks disdainfully. She sounds a lot like Em right now. I roll my eyes when she makes a noise of agreement.

"I don't need the job Isa, I want the job," I tell her easily, packing my phone, some gum, cash and my chap stick into a small purse. I smooth down my skirt, frowning.

"Stop stressing pet, you look hot," Isa says with a girlish giggle.

"Yeah, if you weren't my sister, I'd definitely tap that," Em adds with her own giggle.

"Check that ass out!" Leah says with a wolf whistle.

"You guys are so extra," I say with a laugh, shaking my head slightly.

I blow them a kiss as I walk out and I leave them falling over each other trying to catch it. My chuckles echo in the empty hall. My parents aren't home yet. I grab the car keys and head out.

The little bell above the door dings as I walk in and I smile.

"Snow, finally. I was starting to think you weren't gonna show," Camden greets enthusiastically when I'm at the counter. I smile at him and opening the partition between him and the people, I throw my arms around him in a hug.

"Hey Cam," I greet, puling away slightly to look up at him. His tousled brown hair looking sexy as always, his warm brown eyes twinkling excitedly and his lips lifted in a smile. He somehow always smells like vanilla, its comforting.

"Ugh, hey Samantha. My uncle isn't paying you to cuddle with Cam," voices the biatch. Oh I'm sorry, I meant biatch. Would you look at that, same thing. Introducing Marisa, spoiled little brat, very long very fake eyelashes, face caked with make up and hair dyed blonde. Her eyes are a really beautiful green though, and she likes to remind us 'common eyed' folk, how rare her eye colour is.

I step out of Cam's hold, flushing when I realise I've just been staring at him.

"Hey Marisa. My name is actually Snow," I correct politely with a small smile. She rolls her eyes, throwing my notebook and apron at me.

"Whatever Samuel. You've got tables to wait," she says snobbishly, clicking her tongue as she walks away.

I close my eyes, counting backwards from ten. That girl irks me.

"You heard her Samuel, get going," Cam says, playfully shooing me as I tie the apron around my waist. I laugh quietly as I head towards my first table.

"Hello, my name is Snow and I'll be your waitress today. What would you like to order?" I introduce myself politely to the mother that just walked in with, I'm assuming, her daughter.

"I'll just take a water," the mother says. Her long blonde hair is tied back in a messy ponytail. She looks frail, tired and the purple bags under her blue eyes stand out against her creamy skin.

"Um...okay. What about you sweetheart?" I ask the little girl. Her hair, identical to her mom's is tied in pigtails, her skin a light caramel and her eyes a piercing blue. She's just as beautiful as her mom.

"I wanna go see daddy," she says adorably, pouting sadly. Her mother sighs. I frown, leaning down slightly to her height.

"Guess what?" I ask in a whisper. She looks at me, confusion lining her eyes.

"What?" She asks hesitantly.

"My name is Snow White," I tell her quietly. She gasps, placing a hand on her chest.

"Like the princess?" She asks excitedly.

"Yes sweetheart, like the princess," I answer with a soft smile. She's quiet for a few seconds.

"Can I be a princess?" She asks in a small voice, looking down at her hands in her lap. I lightly grab her chin so she can look at me.

"You're already as pretty as one," I compliment and she giggles adorably, her cheeks flushing with colour.

"But, a princess always eats," I add, laughing lightly.

"Ok. Can I have chocolate cake?" She asks excitedly. I laugh, straightening up.

"Sure sweetheart," I say, writing it down.

"Um.....how much is the chocolate cake?" The mother asks. I study her, she's trying to hide the fact that she's worried. I can guess why.

"Its on the house," I say politely. Her shoulders sag in relief. Called it.

A few minutes later, I bring out a chocolate cake, a burger, some fries and two sodas and of course her water.

"Oh my God," the mother whispers under her breathe. She insists on paying me but I decline saying its okay. She pulls me in an unexpected hug, thanking me profusely.

I leave the table with a smile, continuing my shift. Everything is normal until he walks in.

I didn't exactly have a plan for this part. I just kinda went with the flow haha......

Obviously since the store isin't hers Snow paid for the nice mom's meal. I wasn't trying to make her look presumptious as I've been told by my friend.

It's not that she just assumed that this lady is poor, Snow just likes to hhelp and it seemed like the cost of the meal was really bothering the woman......please don't be mad at snow.
