Chapter 21 – The idea of ancestry

Kai stayed at campus for four days straight without returning to his own house. It's not because of the incident, it was because of the complicated family issue in Kitagawa household.

Kitagawa residence is a huge Japanese style mansion, where the prestigious head of the family reside. Kai and his family reside in an apartment complex away from the mansion. Nagisa visited her grandparent, the head of the family.

The fifth day after his stay at campus, he went back to his own home. Both his sister had left to the main household. Only his father and mother were present. It was a night.

"Renée, I'm back home…" Kai greeted his father as soon as he get back home.

"Welcome back."

Kai let himself in and had a bath, freshened up and sat for dinner with his mom and dad.

"Kai, my father asked to meet you…" informed mom, with an abrupt tone.

"Yeah… why?"

"He is your grandfather, he wanted to meet you. Go back to the main house tomorrow morning, Kai."

"Sure."

"…"

Somewhat a happy dinner went ahead after the awkwardness. All three laughed and enjoyed their dinner to their fullest.

The morning sun rose up again for another bright day. Kai prepared to leave for the main mansion.

"Bye, mom." Waved his hand to his mother.

"Bye, Renée."

"Wait… take that jacket with you…." Said mother bringing out an old jacket.

"Hahaa…. It's a keepsake, he doesn't wear that."

"Yea…. Phew….."

Throwing a finger gun, Kai left the house and disappeared out of their vision as they kept standing on the doorway.

"Hmm, even after fifteen years… that child feels a bit distant." Said mother with a worried look on her face.

"But, looks like he warmed up to us a little, I guess…hehe."

"Hehe… Kai addresses me by my real name…. his father…. Well….. "

"...since he found out he was adopted." Said father with a hint of sadness on his face.

"Dear, maybe he calls you by your name is because you are the closest to him. ~"

"Hm, yeah maybe so…" smiled Renée as he held her close to him. She smiled looking down as her face turned red, they minded not to their surroundings.

"Seriously~! A fourth child as soon as I stepped out?"

"Ah!! You're back already?"

"Hmmm….Already? ~" Kai repeated with a smirk on his face.

"Augh…. Why are you here?"

"Father, Father, this isn't how you should treat your son…. You should embrace him as he get back."

Covering his face with an arm, Renée looked at kai with a face saying 'this kid…..'

"This kid really really should cut his ties with that idiot Draven, he is really a bad influence…."

"Renéeeee~ bus fees." Kai said as he rummaged through Renée's shirt pocket.

"Take the car fool."

"Underage."

"I guess I will take the cycle…." Said Kai as if he realized something.

"But you will really look good in that jacket." Said the mother, as she patted his head.

"Yeah, but saving it for like a special occasion." Said Kai with a light smile and distant look on his face.

Kai took the cycle and truly left this time.

Kai reached their main house after couple of hour walk. The entrance were so huge. There were huge ponds with koi in, there were exotic trees, which he had never seen before. He admire the architecture as he wandered astray. For him the sight was truly an enchantment. While he roamed adrift he stumbled across the sparing dojo. There were both his sister and grandfather.

"Welcome Kai, Have a seat."

Announced in rugged voice, grandfather. As he pointed on to the empty floor next to him. Kai walked on his tip toes to avoid creaking noise from the wooden floor. Despite his effort the creaking noise echoed through the dojo.

"What's about to start, grandfather?"

"HAHA~~~! Formal? Call me grandpa, Kid!"

"Hehe~ what's about to happen, grandpa? ~"

"HMM… KID, you should watch this closely!"

Ordered Mr. Kitagawa, implying something was about to happen.

Kai didn't perceive earlier when he entered the dojo, but when he looked closely at it, both sisters stood facing each other. They both looked like they were about to duel. They both bowed to each other to show their respect before the math begin.

"Sa~a, Hajimeyou." Said Grandma, who was in there to begin with.

The battle begins.
