Chapter 26: Training

Ezra felt a jolt of energy surge through him and frowns. She must’ve been closer for him to have felt it so suddenly. She had to be. It was almost always a dull hum burning in his chest since she’d been missing, but now that she was closer... He can feel her heart aching.

He stands at the edge of a forest in the underworld, shrouded in a dark mist. His eyes scan the area ahead of him, searching for any structures. Figures run his direction, and he stands behind one of the black trees, hiding his frame in the darkness.

Vampires.

Rogue vampires.

What are they fleeing from though?

A pair stop, breathing heavily, taking a break from their run. The one nearest to Ezra’s spot states, “I can’t believe she did that!”

“I don’t know why you’re complaining. You’re the one who wanted to go to the lord’s masquerade.”

“We could’ve been ash! Scattered to the wind by that light! You saw what she did to those weaklings!”

The second vampire shakes her head and sighs.
