Chapter 17: Rationale

His amethyst eyes widen, and he retorts without hesitation, “No, you’re mad. I can tell that much. Biting you is not the way to go about it.”

“Well if you don’t, then that monster will.”

He frowns at her. “Don’t bring him up right now.”

She glares at him with angry orbs and snaps, “Why not? I’m not wrong. He’s probably skulking about here somewhere.”

He hotly counters, “I assure you, he’s not.”

“Then what’s stopping you from biting me?”

His eyes narrow at the question. “I do not bite those unwanting.”

She challenges, “What makes you think I don’t want it?”

“The fact that we’re having this conversation right now is enough. The mood for love bites has passed.” he answers sternly.

She scoffs. “Have it your way then, but I will get you to bite me before he does.”

Ezra sighs, presses a soft kiss to her forehead and remarks, “It isn’t meant to be a challenge, Leila. When I finish that kiss, I will want all of you. I will want to devour you. You can’t fight me.”
