Chapter 18: At Your Disposal

Ezra glowers at the mirror, swiping across it and revealing the true lord once more.

“You appear frustrated, Ezra. What’s happened?”

He snaps bitterly, “I’ve lost her trust.”

The vampire lord chuckles, responding in a mock tone, “A woman that’s a challenge for you? Surely not.”

Ezra shoots the man a glare, grabbing the nearest object and throwing it against the wall. A black vase full of lavender shatters.

“My, my,” he teases, “You really do like her. Could she be the one?”

Ezra whips around to the mirror and frowns at the chuckling lord. “No, I really don’t think that’s the case, and if it was, I’ve screwed it up.”

“I need you to bring her to me. We can’t afford for her to be taken by Ryu. This weapon is different.”

His eyes narrow at the new information. “Why is she so special?”

“Her blood heals, little Ezra.” he answers calmly from his throne chair.
