Truth Awakens

A couple of days quickly passed and the Demon had finally learned some of the Japanese language basics, both written and spoken. They had grown more powerful as they devoured more souls over the course of those days, both free-floating humans and hollows who were too stupid to attack the demon. That wasn't the only way they grew as well, they explored their ability to control darkness itself and they began looking into the deep recesses of their mind, discovering things they could never know naturally or no newborn could know naturally. 

It had discovered something called a "Magical ability" or something along those lines used in a place called Brittania. Honestly, the demon didn't understand what those words meant, but it saw something interesting. A memory from one of the various seals on its body, one related to truth. It was a demon named Galand who had an ability called "Critical Over" alongside a few other demons who had different abilities altogether.

It was interesting to see them use their various commandments or curses as they sometimes referred to them as. So it tried discovering its own unique magical ability and how to properly activate the various commandments across its body. Yet it had no luck as another day passed without anything interesting happening in the physical world.

It was starting to bother the demon as they felt much weaker than the ones who wielded the seals of the pass. However, that was to be expected due to their recent birth and limited knowledge of the techniques belonging to the demon clan. It did however have distant memories of the past commandment wielders, although there were only bits and pieces, it should be enough to figure out a few techniques for the newly born demon.

It did so at night when there were fewer people to see him practice and for some reason even more hollows roaming the streets. Although they had gotten a better hang on their darkness ability, moving around in the much more confined human-ish body was uncomfortable but it supposed saving its true form for a rainy day was a good idea. They were even able to eventually form weaponry out of the darkness, not extensions of their physical body like claws or wings but swords, spears, and a few other forms of weaponry. 

Yet the commandments never one awoken fully, sure they came close a couple of times when the demon ate a hollow or souls. Every time, however, it fell short and they would go dormant again frustrating the demon. Every time they failed, the demon would roar out attracting a few hollows or a few of the dumber ones at least. During the day, however, it would explore the town finding certain oddities, never running into the orange-haired human again although they felt their presence a few times but could never fully pinpoint them. 

As another day quickly passed, the demon felt something different about its body as it quickly chowed down on another weak hollow. It felt like one of the Ten Commandments acting up, becoming much stronger than the others. Shifting parts of its body to see the symbol, it saw a circle with a crescent shape at the top and three lines connecting to one singular root-like shape and it recognized the commandment of truth.

A curse that turns all to stone if they speak a lie or if they back out of a game and cannot be nullified like the others. The demon smiled seeing that this one was close to awakening fully all it needed was a good push. Something to push the demon's body to the limit and awaken the commandment. 

Luckily for them, a powerful hollow had caught their scent, one that was more humanoid in appearance. It had a large white mask like all the others except it only had one eye with the other being blind and having a large mouth full of sharp thin fangs. It had a large red body with two thin tails and had white armor on its legs and hands which were smaller than the first hollow the demon encountered but were probably far more deadly. 

The demon looked into their eyes and while they could tell it didn't have the intelligence of a human, it was far more clever than the rest. There was a calmness in the blackness where the eyes should be. Almost calculative in nature, the hollow studied the demon figuring out their possible strengths and weaknesses.

The demon smiled getting into a combat position and forming a spear made out of pure darkness, wielding it in its right hand ready to stab right into the hollow's face. They stood facing each other, daring the other to make the first move and for their battle to begin. Then the hollow roared out charging forward with their fist clenched ready to slam them down and try to devour the demon. 

They however smiled and tossed the spear, aiming straight for the hollow's stomach, with the spear still connected to the demon's darkness. The hollow noticing this side stepped out of the way, stopping their charge and the spear missed. They then smiled and jumped into the air, ready to slam down on the demon but the demon smiled changing the still ongoing dark spear, stopping it in midair.  It shifted and changed becoming more fluid and whip-like instead of the solid spear form.

It shifted upward sending the whip flying toward the hollow I barely noticed it but couldn't stop it from slamming into them. Instead of being sent flying upwards, they were dragged down and slammed into the ground with the darkness whip retreating back to the demon's body. The hollow shakily got up, covered in debris and dust, and whipped it off, still shaking from either fear or the force of the strike.

Seeing this the demon couldn't help but smile as the darkness shifted and formed a long sword in their left hand with spikes all across it. Seeing this the hollow shivered in fear, as it got ready to charge in again to try and get one hit in. Yet it didn't get the chance as the demon jumped towards them with its sword in a downward strike position ready to slash them in half. As the blade neared the hollow's face, it caught the blade with its hands, except the spikes dug into their hands and it screamed out in pain.

The demon smiled and shifted some parts of its body, shrinking its human-looking form and forming another longsword with upward spikes on both sides. Stabbing forward the demon went upward jabbing the sword right through the hollow's mask/face killing it. As they started to dissipate the Demon shifted the darkness back to its body and began eating the hollow, absorbing its Reiryoku, or mana as the demon knew it. 

Gobbling down on it, the energy went towards the commandment of truth now truly activating its ability. The demon roared out as the symbol for the Truth Commandment went over its forehead and in a bright blue glow activated. 

Calming down the demon looked at his hands having gained much more power than before, and having better mental faculties than before gaining a better grasp on the things it learned so far and it smiled saying something for the first time ever since its awakening.

"I've grown stronger." and it smiled letting out a monstrous laugh into the night giving all who heard it nightmares.
