Becoming the Main Character

Lila did everything in her power to keep the main leads together for her own happy ending. This was because she knew that the world they lived in was just a novel. Even worse, she was miserable in the original story so she was determined to change her fate. However, everything went downhill after she helped a wounded man in her apartment building. It was only the next day when Lila realized what regret really was as the man introduced himself. "What's your name again?" Lila asked hoping she heard and saw wrong.  "Ian, Ian Kline," he answered, not questioning why she asked.  "It was nice to meet you," She quickly muttered before rushing past him to the elevators. She was glad she didn't stutter, but only she knew how much her hands were trembling at the moment.  What made the situation even worse? The fact that she could feel his stare on her back as she rushed away. Lila only calmed down after she got in the elevator and quickly pressed the close button. Please, please, please! ... Who could tell her why the man she had saved turned out to be the main villain?

Part 2 - Her Family

They quickly arrived at the house and Lila made her way inside. She had just taken off her shoes when someone called her over. Lila smiled as she heard the voice and quickly headed over to the living room. On the sofa, a man sorted through the documents in front of him while wearing reading glasses. The color of his hair was dark-brown, and the color of his eyes was black. Lila sat beside him and looked at the paperwork.

"How was your day?" asked the man as he rubbed her head. He took off his reading glasses and put the documents aside.

"It was good. I just went to see the art gallery and stopped at a coffee shop on the way home" Lila answered as she swatted away the man's hand. "You messed my hair up Zed!"

Zed playfully smiled before rubbing her head with both of his hands. Lila quickly shoved his hands away before fixing back her hair again. She glared at Zed as he gave her back a grin.

"You're gonna pay for my next hair appointment," Lila declared as she got up to go to the dinner table.

"I'll pay for all of them if you let me rub your head twice a day, everyday" Zed answered as he got up after her. "In fact, I'll pay for hair, nails, and spa if you let me rub your head whenever I want."

"DEAL!" Lila yelled. She wasn't always gonna be here so it was a win-win type of deal for her. She happily sat down at the table as Zed sat down beside her.

"Why are you so happy? Dad already pays for them anyway" Zed pointed out as he noticed her sudden happy mood.

"It's not the same! Dad does so because he loves me and because he'd be chewed out by Mom if he didn't," Lila explained. "You, however, are different."

"How so?" Zed asked as he raised one eyebrow.

"Well...because it's fun," Lila said, "And also because it's a good deal."

"I am the best big brother in the world aren't I?" Zed questioned playfully as he noticed a figure walk into the room. Lila happily nodded as she didn't notice the figure walk in. She only noticed when the man took a seat at her other side.

"What are you two talking about?" the man questioned as he looked at them. His pitch-black hair and mature face complemented his appearance.

"We were just saying what a great brother I am for paying for all her beauty appointments in exchange for head rubs," Zed boasted as he gloatingly looked at the man.

"Really?" said the man as he turned to face Lila. She rolled her eyes at him before slapping Zed on the shoulder.

"He just wants to brag about himself, but honestly it was a good deal," She replied. "Don't you think so Reo?"

Reo stayed quiet before handing over something to Lila. She instinctively accepted it and looked at the item.

"..." Lila went silent as she realized it was a black card with Reo's name. She found the situation a bit funny and turned to look at Reo.

"You can use that to pay for everything and more," Reo paused before continuing, "If you need more just let me know." Zed glared at his older brother, but also found the situation a bit amusing. Lila chuckled before handing the card back. There was a look of disappointment on Reo's face, but he didn't say anything.

" I know you love me too, so you don't need to do such a thing for me," Lila said, "I was just teasing Zed, and you both are the best brothers a girl could ever ask for." She truly did mean it. The Lila who had loved the male lead so much couldn't see the love of her family and had only caused them trouble. However, Lila now treasured her family and hoped to make them proud. In her original life, she had grown up as an orphan so she knew what it was like to have no one by your side. However, in this life she had a loving family so she would cherish them no matter what. To her, her family was the most important thing.

"You know I wasn't gonna let Zed pay more than a few times. I was teasing him because he acts so childish," She explained to Reo. Zed hmphed on the side as he heard what she said.

Zed and Reo were both older than Lila, but sometimes felt younger compared to her because she was so mature. Ever since they were young, Lila would be the one taking care of them. She always seemed to know what to do no matter what situation came up. Her habit of knowing everyone's birthday and baking a cake for them each year had become a tradition at this point. With the amount of love she had shown them, who wouldn't love such a sister?

However, Lila always insisted on doing her own work and never seemed to ask for help. No matter how hard things are, she would work through it all without any complaint. She refused to accept help from anyone.

"I know, I was just teasing you too." Reo replied as he fixed some of Lila's hair strands. Lila smiled before nodding at him in reassurance. She knew he cared about her and that was enough for them both.

"Now you guys are making me feel bad," Zed mumbled as he turned away from the touching scene. She signed before wrapping her tiny arms around their broad shoulders from behind. She hugged them both tightly as she could before letting go.

"There. Now nobody has to be jealous, okay?" She suddenly stated before looking at the two in amusement. Instead of being embarrassed, the two brothers nodded to show that they were pleased. Lila giggled, wondering why her brothers were so childish? She didn't mind it and was just happy to see everyone happy.

They chatted and waited for a while before they heard a screeching voice coming inside the house.

"LILA!" shouted a deep voice. Her brothers looked at themselves in amusement as Lila smiled.

Their father seemed to have finally arrived.
