CH8:

"Nyahouuu" skating on the lake water with a surfboard under my legs with two cats clinging to my shoulders.

the two cats are actually the same one I meet a week ago, they kind of just start to pass the time in the village or disappear in the forest to explore around, but from time to time they shift into a small form and laze around me, strolling around the village or participating in some of the activity the resident does.

the village has more than a hundred locals and way locals. some are just here under our protection for their services, or being part of the Grey pack.

we also have this little thing we do from time to time, either we made a fighting tournament or race of some kind, and many more interesting things.

and today is one of these days, the different we currently use an enchanted surfboard that can slide on top of the water with only magic and we did the first race on the side of the lack, and to mack it interesting I use some formations and magic enchantment to create a floating road in the air around the lack.

as we enjoy the race I feel a life signature from the deep part of the lack, looking down to find it, but it disappears at the same speed it appears, putting that back on my mind for now and enjoying the race. I got in first by the way.

3 days passed on the first water race, and now I am swimming alone in the lake.

On that day I sensed a life signature in the deep part of the lake and I was intending to dive directly but to my surprise, it was deeper than I have imagined. shifting to white shark form and starting to dive deeper.

I keep going until I found myself at the bottom of the lack which was around 6 to 7 Km deep.

although there are many varieties of creatures on the top level of the lake, the moment I hit 3km deep all the small and medium species disappeared only large ones are still around although the count is small. and if you wondering how much big? the smallest creature I spot after 3 Km deep was around 6 meters long.

so back to the bottom of the lack, instead of sand or plants what I found is multiple holes I don't know where they lead except for the variety and different sizes of creature that goes in and out from time to time, nothing really pick my interest. so I just turn to head back.

but to my surprise, I since dangerous dodging at the last moment to see a couple of harpoons with chains on the end pass right beside me 'I take what I said before, this place is interesting' looking back at the place they came from.

inside one of the many holes below me, I saw dozens of shiny eyes and a moment later I saw the owner of those eyes, mermaids.

yup, the first time I saw one, and I have to say they are the closest to a human I see inside 'AF'.

behind the mermaids, a couple of giant man mermaids pull the chains and drag back the harpoon. I open the space between us and keep an eye on them to see what they trying to do and to my surprise, they can communicate like normal humans.

one of the men catch the harpoon and handed it to the mermaid in front of him "That fish is dangerous, it senses our attack even if we are using the water curtain. Be careful"

hearing him the mermaid nodded "I got it, but this is the first time I saw such a unique water creature, the queen will be happy to have it as a pet."

if I was in human form I will have twitching leps right now? I now really feel how the endeavor creature felt. but well, they can't do anything to me anyways, and since they have a queen...

I look below to the holes 'If my guess is right some of those holes lead to the sea outside the mountain range." looking at the creatures around then the mermaids 'that explain where those mermaids come from, and also where they feed from, but why I didn't see them before?'

putting the question in the back of my mind, concentrating on the ones who trying to 'hunt' me down as I sense the 4 ladies gathering mana around the harpoon and taking throwing position.

the moment they unleash their harpoon appaired not even a few meters in front of me, but still I dodged their attacks and they have an interesting look right now.

when I look back at them the males take the front and start to rise their defense "Be careful, it's probably stronger than we thought." saying so he started to pull the chain with one hand while drowning the spears on their back.

after they drow the harpoons they give them back to the ladies after detaching the chains "As the normal way doesn't work, let's catch him after weakening him"

They nodded and started to take formation with that man flanking me from the front and sides while the females are behind them just below and close to the hole they used to get here.

from the formation, I can see that the men are used to this kind of fight while the females are probably in their first time out hunting.

intending to start a conversation, but I hold back as I want to see how they fight.

as I was observing them the man in front of me start to speed up with the tip of the spear in my direction I dodge his attack followed by turning and flinging my tail to reflect the other two but at that moment the water start to tighten around me.

I look down and notice the female's hands stretch in my direction, with mana moving around 'So they can control water?' thinking so I move my magic and cover myself to the surprise of all the mermaids.

but that didn't stop them from continuing the attack.

They keep attacking and attacking while I just dodge and dodge while learning from their fight, and I have to say, between water manipulation and fighting style, they are probably the best I saw. (just imagine them moving and fighting like Atlanteans.)

after some time, the men start to get tired so I look at them while sighing inside and said 'How about taking a break before we continue

hearing my voice they froze before frecking out and taking some distance from me while looking at me like an alien.

I was amused as they gave me the face of someone who saw a cat talking fluently 'What is the problem? first time talk to a fish?' trolling them a little they winded ther eyes "A fish talked!!?"

I laugh and turn to hybrid shark forme and smirk "No, I am not fish"

"EHHHH!" their eyes almost fall down OP style, I found it funny so I start to laugh again.
