Chapter 94 - The Avengers Part 5

Stark Tower, New York

Selvig's machine began to come to life, the Tesseract in the center emitted an energy force field protecting all the equipment. Then from above, Tony Stark, wearing his damaged armor, appears.

"Dr. Selvig, shut it down," he requested.

"It's too late. He wants to show us something," Selvig said, still under Loki's control.

Knowing that talking would be futile, Tony then fired two blasts from his repulsors trying to destroy the machine. The blasts hit the force field, creating a small explosion. The explosion threw Selvig far away where he fell unconscious. Iron Man then gave up and removed his armor and went towards Loki, who had a smug smile on his face.

"Please, don't say you're going to appeal to my humanity," Loki said to Tony.

"Actually, I plan to threaten you," Tony replied as he bought time to prepare his new armor.

"You should have stayed in the armor."

"I…"

Just as Tony was about to respond, his gaze finally found Amora sitting on his couch.

"This explains Rapunzel's sudden disappearance," he said with disgust in his voice.

"Don't mind the Witch, she's the most pitiful here, even having succeeded."

"Success? I don't think she had that, since we just received a message from her boyfriend saying he's coming," Tony said, moving behind a mini bar and putting two bracelets on his wrists. He was just trying to distract the two, but he didn't know that the news of Baldur's return had a greater effect than expected on both of them.

"That's impossible. Baldur couldn't talk to you, he's completely isolated," Amora exclaimed, looking at Tony for the first time.

"Tell that General Freyja who is on her way with an army after asking for their support?" Tony then placed a glass cup on the counter and filled it with whiskey.

"Would you like a drink?" he asked.

"Is that possible? You made sure he couldn't escape!" Loki said to Amora, clearly nervous.

Amora remained silent, thinking for a second, and then replied with tears in her eyes.

"The only way I can think of for him to escape would be with brute force. It would be the same as mutilating oneself, suffering unimaginable pain."

"Let's do a count here," Tony said, coming out from behind the minibar and heading towards Loki.

"Your two brothers, the gods. The super-soldier, a living legend who kinda lives up to the legend. A man with serious anger management issues. Two professional assassins. And you, big guy… You've managed to piss them all off."

Tony stood in front of Loki, even knowing the risk he still needed some time until his new armor was complete.

"When they come…and they will come, it will be over for you."

"I have an army!" Loki said, trying to regain control of the discussion.

"We have one too, the troops from Genosha are coming to the city right now."

"It doesn't matter, even if brother's army comes, do you think they will go against the orders of their queen?"

"Maybe yes, maybe no, but you still don't understand Loki."

"Oh, so please explain to me."

"There's no version of this where you win. Maybe your army will come and maybe it's too much for us, but it's all on you!"

Then Stark looked straight into Loki's eyes and said,

"Because if we can't protect the Earth, you can be damn sure we'll avenge it."

Loki was a little doubtful if his plan would really work, but he soon smiled and had an idea that could help him.

"How will your friends have time for me, when they will be busy fighting against you?

When he finished speaking, he touched Tony's chest with his scepter trying to control him, but unlike expected, it didn't work. Leaving Loki confused.

"Performance issues, not uncommon, 1 out of 5," Tony joked.

Then Loki finally lost his patience and grabbed Tony's neck with his hand almost breaking it and then threw him across the room.

"J.A.R.V.I.S, anytime now!"

Loki didn't pay attention to Tony and threw him again, this time making him go through the window falling to his probable certain death, but J.A.R.V.I.S did his duty, and a compartment opened near the bar, a missile was fired in the direction of Tony knocking Loki who was in the way.

The fired missile opened and covered Tony's entire body before he hit the ground, with his new armor, Tony flew back and stood in front of Loki outside the building.

"And there's another person you pissed off, His name was Phil!"

Tony fired another energy blast from his repulsor hitting Loki squarely, he even thought about ending the fight, but at that moment Loki's machine finally worked. The machine fired a blue light beam up into the clouds, space then distorted creating a huge blue hole in the sky of New York to the terror of those looking on the ground, they saw nothing but darkness inside the hole.

Finally from the portal, several beings riding motorcycles-like ships came out, their number soon began to increase rapidly spreading across the sky, Tony tried his best to prevent this, he took off towards the portal firing several energy blasts and missiles at the enemies quickly destroying them, but their numbers were too much for Tony to handle. Soon the first Chitauri arrived in the city starting their attack, they didn't have clear targets, just attacking targets with high concentration of living beings, the desperate civilians running through the streets were easy targets, only increasing the number of dead. Throughout the city, you could see explosions and people running, some smart ones took refuge inside buildings staying relatively safe.

Loki then stood in front of the building, watching the destruction his army was causing.

"Loki!"

When he looked back, he saw Thor landing.

"Turn off the Tesseract, or I will destroy it!" he said.

"You can't, there's no way to stop it, there's only war!" Loki said.

"So be it," Thor replied.

Thor finally accepted the fact that he had to fight his brother again and attacked him. Loki defended himself with his scepter, then he tried to shoot at Thor, but he was able to deflect his scepter with his hammer. The shot then hit one of the large letters of the Stark name on the front of the building, causing it to collapse.

The fight between them continued, but suddenly it stopped. Thor saw Amora standing, looking at them. Thor wondered where his brother had gone, and how he had disappeared out of nowhere, but now he had his answer.

"You traitor!"

Thor then jumped to attack Amora with his hammer enveloped in lightning, a blow with all his wrath, enough to kill Amora. But Loki appeared in front of Amora and threw two daggers at Thor, the two daggers pierced his shoulder and abdomen. Thor was forced to retreat and taking advantage of his injuries, Loki shot at him, hitting him squarely and sending him flying out of the building.

Meanwhile, Iron Man was being chased by several ships through the streets. The only thing he could do with the large number of enemies was to dodge their shots, unfortunately these shots hit several buildings, cars and people below him. Then when he crossed the street, a S.H.I.E.L.D. jet appeared, firing everything it had at the ships behind him, destroying them and thus giving Tony room to breathe. The S.H.I.E.L.D. jet then flew to the top of the building where it tried to shoot at Loki, but it was hit first by him on one of its wings, causing it to fall to the ground a few kilometers away from Stark Tower.

Three people came out of the S.H.I.E.L.D. jet, Captain America was wearing his standard color uniform and his shield, Clint and Natasha were wearing tight black S.H.I.E.L.D. clothes.

"We have to get there!" Steve said, pointing to Stark Tower.

As the three of them were about to run towards the tower, the portal above them caught their attention. From within the portal, a gigantic beast resembling a serpent emerged. The serpent, larger than buildings, moved among them and from its belly, several soldiers of the Chitauri infantry jumped onto the nearby buildings or to the ground. As soon as they landed, they began an indiscriminate attack on any living being, killing remorselessly. Before they could process this, the Avengers saw another serpent emerge from the portal and more enemy soldiers arrive on the ground.

"They are in trouble down there," Steve said, looking at a large group of civilians being chased by the Chitauri.

"Go. We'll take care of it here," Natasha told him.

"Are you sure you can handle it?" he asked.

"Captain, it will be a pleasure."

Clint replied, pointing his new bow at the Chitauri soldiers who had fallen in front of him. Clint then pulled the string of his bow, it was a strange sight since he had not placed an arrow on the bow, but when he pulled the entire line of the bow, a transparent golden arrow made of light appeared and he released the string. The arrow flew at a speed greater than a bullet, piercing the head of one of the Chitauri. Steve then jumped from the bridge where they were and went after the people trying to save them. Natasha, alongside Clint, also began the attack. She was shooting with a pistol in one hand and a golden dagger in the other. Any enemy that approached her was cut by the dagger that pierced the bodies of the Chitauri as if they were butter.

Clint was firing arrows at an insane speed, hitting all his targets in the head or heart. Such precision would not have been possible for him before he gained his new bow or powers, but he had to stop his attack to help people trapped inside a bus. After that, he joined Natasha who was providing him cover.

"This is just like Budapest!" she said nostalgically to her friend.

"We remember Budapest very differently."

He replied, without stopping to shoot golden arrows at his enemies.

The fight continued until the two began to feel pressured. Natasha dropped her weapon and picked up her two daggers and began to kill anything that came close to them, as did Hawkeye. They didn't see a Chitauri that approached from behind, when he was about to fire, Steve returned and hit him in the face with his shield and with his help, Natasha and Clint began to gain an advantage. Shortly after, an entire squadron of Chitauri that was heading in their direction was hit by lightning that fell from the sky, killing them. Thor then landed on the ground, ending all the nearby enemies.

"What's the situation?" Steve asked Thor.

"The power around the cube is impenetrable," Thor replied.

{Thor is right, we have to deal with them.} Tony agreed with Thor over the communicator.

"Loki will focus the fight on us. That's what we need, Stark is up there, But he needs us to…"

Before he could finish the sentence, Steve looked forward and saw Bruce Banner appearing on a motorcycle.

"Things are bad, aren't they?"

He said to the team.

"We've seen worse," Natasha said.

"Sorry," Bruce said.

"No, the worst would be useful."

"Stark, we're with him, Just like you said," Steve said.

{Banner? Tell him to turn green, I'm bringing the party to you.}

Then on the horizon, Stark appeared being chased by the Leviathan.

"I don't know where he's seeing a party," Natasha said, disheartened by the sight in front of her.

"Doctor. Now is a good time to get angry!"

"That's my secret, Captain, I'm always angry!"

Stark brought the Leviathan as low as possible and when it was about to collide with Bruce, he transformed into the Hulk and hit the giant monster's face with a powerful punch, destroying its armor and giving Stark a chance to hit the monster with a missile at an unprotected point, exploding the Leviathan's body.

This caught the attention of all the Chitauri around them, they roared in provocation at the Avengers and received another roar from the Hulk in response.

At the same moment, in a street destroyed by the Chitauri, a few kilometers from the Avengers, space began to tremble, shortly after ten fingers appeared in the air and forced space to open, and from the opening a man appeared on the street. He was wearing only pants and no shirt, his entire body was covered in white scars, the only place where the scars were not was on his face, he had eyes as golden as gold and short hair, his golden eyes were shining like fire.

The man then looked around at everything, assessing the situation, then he took a deep breath and screamed to relieve some of his fury.

"AMORA!!!"

His scream was so powerful that it created a sound wave that destroyed all the windows of the nearby buildings, creating a rain of glass that didn't even scratch his body. He then extended his arm, shortly after a golden spear came to his hand, his body shone in gold creating armor on his body with a red cape on his back. He then began to walk slowly towards the battlefield, ready to start a mad slaughter to quench some of the fury in his heart.
