Chapter 30

The magic! It feels different, like it was put through a filter. I didn't know the magic in my head was so dirty until I felt this magic. Well it's not dirty it's just together, it has impurities. I have some water magic in my head but I can use water magic! So I need to find a way to only keep the fire, and lightning magic. I can't feel the gravity magic at all. How I figured out to differentiate between the types of magic is feeling it, mentally. Fire magic makes my sense feel hot, which is an odd feeling. Lighting magic makes my sense feel numb, so I don't really know if it's lightning magic. Because I can barely tell the differences between magic types. It is super miniscule and the lightning magic numbs my senses, weakening them. As for gravity magic, I'm not sure. I know it's there because my sense gets particularly dragged in a direction when I don't move it around, or it's more a tug. But I can't focus in and find where that pull originates from.

All of the magic that runs through the ring gets sent out in strands, or more accurately streams. The magic that goes into my head has no way to get out except for me using magic. So it just sits in my head, there is no way for me to filter it when I gain it. Unless I attempt to attach the ring to where the node is. Which may be an interesting idea! That I shouldn't test on myself. Maybe an assassin? That would be fun! I still have no idea how the handcuffs make you tell the truth. The holy metal shouldn't be only limited to filtering magic. Or maybe magic has some effect on how much people lie? But it doesn't have any adverse effects on personality! Does it make you incapable of luring or does it make you less likely to lie? There is a huge difference! What if it doesn't filter just magic! But filters out intent, or maybe intent is expressed with magic too? I am looking way too far into this metal. But hey! It's a fascinating thing!

Now all I have to do is try to hold the magic in the ring. I still plan to have a special sword out of this metal. If it can only filter magic, I might be able to make the sword save the filter magic and enchant itself based on where I click on the hilt. Like pockets of magic in the handle that shoot up throughout the sword and imbue it. I try to channel the magic into the ring again, it once again get filtered out the other side. So I hold 2 different parts of the ring and try to send magic into it simultaneously, which feels super funky. Like exhaling through my mouth and nose at the same time. It flows in the ring and reaches the other magic stream. But instead of slowly unwinding from the rings circle like before out in a spiral pattern. It just jets out the 2 meeting points, and the ring starts to spin. Which I assume means I am giving one side of the ring more magic. Does magic work with my dominant hand more than my non dominant hand?

Like the genius I am, I wrap my hand completely around the ring and channel magic right into my palm. The magic won't be able to escape if I block out all routes right? No. It just pressurizes and eventually forces my hand open and the magic makes a slight boom sound. If I could reach the Industrial Revolution in this world I bet coal would be obsolete. Could? No, I will make sure I see it! I bet ⅓ gods live for a long time! I must have gotten some of my fathers immortality!

Is there any way to store magic in the metal? Maybe I let the magic flow in at an angle? So it coils inside? Maybe if it's coiled enough it may become stable enough to work as a magic battery. A very expensive magic battery! I try to send the magic into the ring and coil it. It smoothly heads into the ring and starts to coil oddly. It's much more like light reflecting off millions of barely tilted mirrors. The magic doesn't actually bend. But I know I can bend the magic. It bends when I send it into the ring normally. Is it because of the way I'm sending it in? Am I being too precise? It doesn't really matter because the magic still starts to coil just not perfectly. Which is infuriating me for some reason. Am I angry because it's not perfect? Or because I can't make it perfect. Doesn't really matter, if you push all of your thoughts and feelings to the back of your mind it becomes manageable!

Can I add OCD to the list of tornado magic's side effects? Anyway the magic coils and I eventually stop adding more magic when it starts to escape the ring. After cutting off its supply I realize I have no idea how I should go about containing the magic in the ring. Maybe I could make an alloy? The guards' swords are made out of iron and they hold magic fine! But would that just reflect the magic differently? How would it change the metals properties? When I make a huge sum of money from the upcoming war I will fully invest in magic research! Maybe the church will pay me to further look into my god granted powers.

The only thing I can really do in the future is help teach Eve and do magic normally. The holy metal may be helpful but I don't have enough of it. I should probably still try the auto magic filter on an assassin. But I haven't seen an assassin in a few days! I thought there would be many more! All I can do is be patient! Or maybe I can put a hit on myself! That works but is it morally ok?
