Chapter 8: Weaponry
"I'll be your instructor for melee combat and weaponry" Craig said "We'll be learning basic martial arts and basic weaponry"
Perseus and Emma are in the training room with weapons laid out on the floor for them to choose.
"Guns, knives, daggers... chains?" Perseus held them up, they had one blunt side and a sharp point on the other
"They're useful in a few situations, but I wouldn't recommend using them in a group fight, you might also hurt your own ally" Craig responded "I'll be teaching you how to use all these type of weapons, and by the time we finish, you should be able to find your specialty"
"I think I can use a pistol pretty well," Perseus said as he picked one up and aimed it at a target "Since the tasers design was based on a gun after all"
The pistol is black in color, it was sleek and thin with a grey line going from the handle to the barrel.
"Don't use it yet, father hasn't instructed us yet" Emma stopped him
"Fine" Perseus said as he put it down "Maybe I can dual wield a pistol like the guys in those picture books, makes me look more intimidating"
"That would be impractical," Craig responded "You would lack accuracy and stability, yes it is possible, but I recommend using both of your hands for on a pistol for better shots"
"Any more reasons for why I shouldn't?" Perseus asked unconvinced
"Well first of all, it'll be hard for you to aim and shoot at 2 things at once, so your shots are bound to miss, with only one hand on each pistol, you lack stability, even if you can shoot and aim at 2 things at once, it would be almost impossible to use it in combat," Craig explained "Even if you can use it in combat, to get better accuracy, you would have to close in and shoot them in mid or close range combat, losing your advantage of being able to fight them from a long distance"
"Yeah, too many words, so basically it's almost impossible right? That means there's still a chance" Perseus then held then both and aimed it at the target
As he aimed, there were rune circles at the barrel of the gun and rune circles at his eyes. The grey line on the gun starts to lit up blue as he then pulled the trigger as both the pistol shot out light bullets, both in the size of an apple and both the shot barely touched the bullseye.
"Lucky shot" Craig clicked his tongue "We're still gonna learn about all these other weapons though"
"This feels different from the tasers, why were there rune circles when I try to shot it?" Perseus asked
"That's because you still can't control your arcana properly, the ones on you eyes are but these pistols aren't like your ordinary tasers," he explained "Tasers have those power stones, people usually misunderstand them as a power source, but if they really are a power source, why do we need to use our arcana to charge them? The power stones are there to help limit your output, the quality and size of the stone will determine your energy output, that's why those tasers can't kill even if you charge it to its maximum capacity, more than that, it will explode and as for these pistols? There's no power stone so the rune circle is the one that manages the output."
Perseus was about to ask a question but he then got cut off
"I wasn't done" Craig cut him off and took one of the pistol as the pistol's grey line then light up orange.
He then shot it at the target, but what came out of the gun was a large beam of light that completely destroys the target, leaving scorch marks on the ground and the pistol then crumbles within his hand.
"As you can see, no rune circles, it means that I can perfectly control my arcana. The pistol was of a lower quality, so it couldn't withstand a blast like that." he said to the 4 flabbergasted children and spiritual beasts "Your siblings will be able to help you with that, as for me, I'll just help you with learning on how to use a few weapons and drill in some basic martial arts. But let me tell you one thing, duel wielding is usually used for trick shots only, so in order to master dual wield, you must first learn how to be able to shoot with both hands"
"Awesome, I like you already, let's start!" Perseus smiled
"No fair! I can't use arcana yet" Emma complained
"That's why you're still weak" Perseus chuckled
"You'll be able to use it soon enough" Craig stepped in "For now, we'll start with hand-to-hand combat to keep it fair"

The Silver family was talking with Craig through a communication orb as they are discussing about Perseus.
"How's his progress?" Axel asked
"He's actually pretty good for a scrawny kid" Craig replied "I think that we'll just need to focus on his etiquette and we should be fine, he easily caught up to my daughter whom I taught first"
"Nova and Dabria also said that he's a quick learner" Mary joined in "He's really talented"
"Father Jake was right in adopting him" Olivia smiled "The way they both smile are similar, maybe we should start having more kids too, John"
"Let's not, Elliot is coming back soon and we already had a hard time raising him" John replied "Williams said that Perseus is learning, he's a bit rough sometimes, but by the time of the gathering, he should easily pass as one of us, since he looks similar to Nova, people have no doubt in him sharing our blood"
"I hope it's not too much trouble teaching him" Mary said
"Hahaha, no worries, if anything, I look forward to meeting that kid, he's pretty interesting." Craig chuckled "Dual wielding, it's either going to be a disaster...or it's going to make him a monster"
"Maybe we can now teach those bigger families a lesson or two on not looking down on people from the buries" Axel chuckled
