An Odd Little Girl

If monsters were a thing, what else was there? Spirits, beasts, vampires, werewolves, witches, wizards, holy creatures, demons, angels - that covers most of them. Who knew what else was there? If that didn’t make it dangerous enough, how about telling you that I live right beside a ravine that had a waterfall flowing into it and a lake at the bottom? Oh, and a valley between several mountains that had numerous forests in it with a jungle right around the corner. Yeah, that’s exactly where I live. In this weird, fantasy world.

Alyth's Magic (Short Chapter)

Chapter 10 Alyth's Magic

It's been three weeks. Alyth and Ribius finished air and were onto water. "We'll go to the forest, there's a lake there, so you two can practice water." The two nodded, and Mallo picked Alyth up.

After Mallo changed Alyth, they went to the forest. The thing Ribius was worried about was, there are many monsters in the forest. What if one attacks them? Would Mallo save them?

"Ribius, lift your pants up a little," Ribius was confused, but followed. He lifted the bottom of his pants up to his knees. "Sit at the edge, and put your feet into the water (there's a river in the forest)." Ribius did, and tried to focus and gather all the aura.

"Ah, before that," Ribius frowned. "You can have this." Mallo put Alyth onto Ribius's lap, and Ribius had to wrap his arms around her to make sure she doesn't fall in. She was too small to sit the same way as Ribius.

And they closed their eyes and inhaled, then exhaled.

They focused. Mallo felt the intensity. He backed off a bit, seeing how the aura they were gathering was very high- the aura of monsters. But he noticed something else. Something that really had his attention.

Alyth.

The aura she was gathering was so large, even larger than Ribius. But it all made sense. Alyth has a immense amount of aura, so gathering the aura of monsters, which is very high too, would make it very dangerous for her*.

He wanted to stop her. He had to remind her that it's very dangerous. But he couldn't. Something wouldn't let him.

...

He couldn't breathe. Pressure was pushing him. He fell to his knees and gasped. He tried to breathe, but he couldn't. He never felt like this in his entire life.

But he knew something very well.

He was going to die.

"Mallo!" Mallo woke up as soon as he heard his name. "H-huh?" Mallo looked around. It's not a dream. They were still near the river. "What's…" He gasped when he saw Alyth. "What happened?!" He ran over to her and picked her up. "I don't know… She suddenly fainted."

Mallo was really suspicious. "Did anything happen beforehand? Did you feel anything before she fainted?" Ribius paused. He did actually feel something. "Yes- there was a large amount of aura coming out from Alyth. Then she fainted." Mallo nodded. He was right. Alyth had used too much aura.

"Goddammit! I warned her! Let's go back," They couldn't stay any longer- Alyth was in danger.

_______________

"This one?" Mallo glanced again. "No, they're smaller. She would choke if she ate that." Ribius rolled his eyes. "Can't you use some sort of magic spell?" A vein could be seen on Mallo's forehead. "Ribius, who's dying right now?" Ribius sighed and looked again.

"Found it!" Mallo grinned as he looked at the small bag in his hand. "Ribius, get some water." Ribius nodded and ran out. "Please, work…" He pleaded. "I got it." Ribius handed the water canteen to Mallo.

Mallo placed a small seed into the water canteen and said something strange. "Rev ian so til man thores." Nothing happened. "Good." Ribius was confused. Nothing happened, how's that good?

Mallo held Alyth's head and placed the canteen near her mouth. The water spilled in and down her throat, but nothing happened. Then-

Mallo got closer to Alyth, strangely close.

A thought had come to Ribius's mind, but he quickly shook it off. Mallo was now inches away from Alyth's face, and the thought had returned to Ribius's mind.

Then, he felt an abnormal amount of aura. Mallo linked foreheads with Alyth, and all the aura from Mallo went into her. "Mallo?!"

"Don't worry. It won't hurt her." Ribius was still concerned. Alyth already had so much aura, and Mallo adding to it won't help. He knew for a fact that someone having too much aura is very, very dangerous, and can lead to an explosion inside the person, meaning death.

When Mallo finished whatever he was doing, he sat back into a chair and inhaled and exhaled. "Mallo... What were you doing, just now?" Mallo looked at Ribius as if he was asking a dumb question.

"Isn't it obvious? I was transporting my aura." Ribius blinked twice. "There's such a thing?" Mallo rolled his eyes. "Obviously."

"Are... you serious?" Ribius couldn't believe what he had just heard. Mallo never mentioned such a thing, and he never read about it in a book. Well, most magic was not mentioned in books or scrolls. It was learned in secret.

Mallo crossed his arms and frowned. "I should teach you more things." Ribius's vein throbbed. "Stop acting so high and mighty. You aren't better than me." In the end, Ribius's pride got in the way of a huge learning process that could've helped him in many more ways than one.

Mallo shrugged. "Your choice." He said in an uncaring matter. Simply as if he didn't care, and never did.

"...Mallo? Ribius?" The two quickly looked at Alyth, who had opened her eyes. "Thank god you're awake." Mallo went over to her and patted her head. "If it wasn't for what Mallo did, you might have died." Said Ribius as he walked over next to them.

"...What Mallo do?" Asked Alyth innocently. "Uh... Not much, just gave you some medicine." He said awkwardly and Mallo sighed.

Alyth only tilted her head.
