An Odd Little Girl

If monsters were a thing, what else was there? Spirits, beasts, vampires, werewolves, witches, wizards, holy creatures, demons, angels - that covers most of them. Who knew what else was there? If that didn’t make it dangerous enough, how about telling you that I live right beside a ravine that had a waterfall flowing into it and a lake at the bottom? Oh, and a valley between several mountains that had numerous forests in it with a jungle right around the corner. Yeah, that’s exactly where I live. In this weird, fantasy world.

Aura Training

Chapter 9 Magic Training

Mallo woke Alyth up early. Before Ribius had left the night before, Mallo asked him to come early. And here they are, in the plains between the village and Alyth's house. They couldn't afford to do it in the village.

"Are you guys ready?" They nodded. Alyth was enormously exuberant, and Ribius was immensely concentrated.

"Magic is very sensitive. If you use too much of it, it'll be dangerous and might explode. However, if you don't use enough, it won't do its job." Mallo walked around them with his hands behind his back. "You'll have to balance between the two. While some people think that magic is based on spells, spells are only one small part of magic. You say a couple of words, those words activate the source of magic in your body. Spells help someone activate their magic."

He stopped in front of the two. He held out both his hands and closed his eyes. "Ib ronta leb sovil actashia." Slow aura emitted from his palms, and made their way to the ground.

After the aura touched the ground, a huge hill formed and caused the ground to shake. Alyth screamed while Ribius held her and backed off. "That was a spell of earth." Said Mallo. Ribius glared at him. "Are you trying to kill us?" Mallo chuckled. "You'll face much more dangers than this. Plus, I won't go easy on you two, even if you're children."

Ribius let Alyth on the ground. "Every person has magic. The difference is whether or not they can use it. Another form of magic is potions. You add specific ingredients and say a couple of words. The words and the mix of those ingredients activate the natural source of magic, the one that is made from earth, water, air, fire. Those elements together form magic."

Usually, a normal child wouldn't understand this, much less a one year old, but Ribius and Alyth can.

"The lesson for today is gathering earth aura. Earth is the easiest aura to gather, but it still takes the least of a week to actually start feeling just the aura." Mallo sat on the ground and Ribius and Alyth followed.

"First, think of Earth. Earth is a natural source that surrounds us all the way. Earth is the source with the cleanest smell." All three of them closed their eyes. They inhaled and exhaled. They sat cross legged ( Alyth sat normally) with their hands gripping the grass beneath them. They let their fingers dig into the soil, playing with the grass and smelling the fresh nature.

They made sure not to pull any grass too, that might ruin the whole session. They stayed like that for god knows how long, and only until the light started to go away they noticed.

"That's enough. We'll continue tomorrow." They all knew it would take really long to gather the natural aura, much less all together. Only that would make up natural magic. Who knows how long it would take to control the magic inside them?

After that, they went to Mallo's house. "Mallo, how long would it take to master natural magic?" Mallo lifted his glasses a bit in interest. "A year at least. Seeing how you two almost got it in the first try, it might not take too long." Alyth flinched at the number.

"So, if I know magic, daddy comes?" She didn't know how to put it properly, but the two understood. "Yeah, Angyar would return in 2 years, and you would have learned magic by then." A huge smile planted onto her mouth as she nodded. "Yeah! Ribius, both go read magic book." Ribius nodded, he was pretty interested in magic as well.

___The Next Day___

"Alyth, you're focusing on getting the feeling of magic- that's not how you start. You have to think about getting the feel of earth aura." She frowned. "Then how do Alyth learn magic!?" Mallo sighed. "You have to control all four elements to unlock natural magic!"

Ribius started to lose focus and got angry. "Will you two shut up? I am trying to focus," Ribius said. Alyth ignored Mallo and kept going. "Alyth, if you're gonna be like that, then you'll never learn how to use it," Alyth grunted in response.

"Fine. Teach me." An angry vein could be seen on Mallo's forehead. "And what have I been doing? Dancing?! (note the sarcasm)" Alyth laughs loudly like she just won a battle. "She'll make me go insane…!"

While Alyth and Mallo were arguing and dumbing around, Ribius was seriously concentrating. He needed to master this in order to figure out the hidden secrets of Eph-Herthalsus.

All of a sudden, he thought of something; for only one second. He tried to remember what it was, as soon as he felt something warm in his entire body. "...Mallo. Does aura… feel like a warm thing flowing inside your body?" Mallo instantly looked at Ribius- Mallo hadn't explained what aura felt like. "...Why yes, it does," Mallo said in absolute confusion.

Ribius flinched at his teacher's words. He tried to remember what it was, except he couldn't find an answer. "Ugh!" He grunted and stormed off somewhere. "Ribius!" Alyth yelled. She wanted to go after him, but she'd get lost. Ribius was ten years old, his legs were longer.

Alyth was still only one year old, so she wouldn't be able to catch up. "Just continue your meditating," Mallo instructed, and Alyth, although still worried about Ribius, followed. She trusted Mallo and knew he would never say or do anything that would put the two kids in danger- in fact, he would protect them at the cost of his life.

___Two Weeks Later___

"Yes, keep going and you'll master it in no time." Said Mallo to reassure her. "Then why not working? Alyth done it for weeks!" Mallo could only sigh. She was starting to get the grip of the earth aura, but she wasn't patient enough. Plus, she was only a toddler, she had less energy than Ribius, who moved onto air aura.

Mallo was surprised at Ribius's sudden improvement. After he had returned from storming off the other day, he was very calm. Something happened to Ribius when he left. "Mallo, like this?"

Mallo only glanced for a bit, but that was enough. Ribius almost had it! He only started on air a week ago, but he almost mastered it! Mallo estimated the minimum of two weeks to control only one natural aura, considering how the two weren't normal children.

Alyth took a much longer time to control the earth aura and she still didn't. She was a normal child physically, but not mentally. She grasped the understanding of natural aura, the rest was left to her body to do. Her personal source of magic was at an inordinate amount, so if she learned to control it, it would turn into a great weapon for both defense and offense.

Ribius had less personal magic than Alyth, but as a ten year old, he had more energy, stamina, aura, and physical ability. His mental ability was also much greater than Alyth's. Other than that, she's doing okay.

"Yes, keep doing that." Mallo went over to help Alyth, since she was doing terrible.

___A Week Later___

Alyth was doing slightly better than before. She's finally able to control Earth aura, and now she's onto Air. But the problem is, if she focuses too much on Air aura, she forgets how to control Earth.

Mallo glanced at Alyth for a bit, but he. was. shocked. "Alyth! You're using way too much aura!!" Mallo pushed Alyth from her place. "Mallo?!" Mallo sighed in relief.

"Thank god... Thank god... You could've died!!" Mallo knew that Alyth wasn't doing that on purpose. She was a beginner. "Eh...?" The thought of dying terrified Alyth. She wasn't anywhere near wanting to die. She was only one.

Mallo was scared. He thought something might really happen to her. That's how Mallo ended up hugging Alyth for the first time, and Alyth's face was painted red. She was a 26 year old woman, so it's normal to think like that, right?

"Thank god..." Even Ribius was surprised. He was away from his spot and carefully examining Alyth's small body to make sure nothing actually happened to her. When he was done with that, he patted the top of her head (this is how Ribius shows affection) and smiled gently at her. "At least she isn't hurt." Alyth blushed again.

The problem is, the two are very good looking.

But this made Alyth realize how her life was important to herself and others. How everyone cared for her. Surely, if something happened to her, her father would be very upset.

It all ended well though and she wasn't hurt. She just remembered that Mallo said you have to balance between using too much and too less. When she thinks about what he said, she can focus a bit better and not use too much aura.

"Let's continue tomorrow." Said Mallo as he picked Alyth up. He was still very worried. Alyth only smiled. "Mallo!" He glanced at her when he heard her call his name. And so she kissed his cheek (Alyth's signature move) and grinned. "Thank you!" She not only caused Mallo to be stunned but Ribius too.

She only kissed Angyar and Ribius (on the cheek) before, so Mallo never expected it to be him too. But in the end, she's a child, no matter how old she is.

"Yeah."

___The End Of Chapter 9___

OH WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THAT TOOK SO LONG!!!!!!!!!!!! Almost an entire month! I am trying to get the three closer, because I am going to do something in the future (hehehhehehheheheh).

The thing is, I know Alyth is a young baby, but her getting very used to magic from an early age can help her focus on other things as she grows up. I am also focusing a lot on Ribius, cause I like him and he's the deuteragonist.

BYEBYE!!!!!!!!
