Palace of Powers
It has been three months right now, I have been starving for two days. The last time my friends called me was one month ago. My elemental powers do not work in the Darklands. I am only left with the powers I have earned from the Palace of Powers.
The Palace of Powers is located on top of the clouds in Amulet world. The first time I was permitted to enter was when I mastered everything. The place was awesome. It had colourful leaves, trees which could move around and there were insects which are much better looking than the insects we have. Grandle told me that they were called pixies. Some of them even glowed. "Is this heaven?" I asked. "Certainly not," replied my trainer, Alluminous. I walked down the aisle of the cloud. I dropped a look from the top of the cloud to the ground, I gulped as I got chills all over my body. "How long has it taken for you to become a master and come up here?" I asked Grandle while he was stomping around plucking a few leaves for his potions. "I was around 500 years then, those were my golden days, I was young and handsome..." Grandle continued to blabber while I ignored him and had gone near Arash. Grandle must be like a thousand years old. Amulatians have a long life span but if they master controlling their body, they can also never die, like Grandle. The only way such people die is when they choose to do so or they get killed. "Come on people, stop messing around, we didn't come here for a picnic," said Grendel. "Wait we didn't," Asked Axan while he and my friends reached the top. "Hey, you guys came," I said. "Of course we will come on top of a cloud if I was to get powers, although I would prefer it on the ground as I just ate a big burrito," Axan replied.
Grendel asked us to follow him. The walk was a bit too long. I asked him, "Why can't we just use the teleporter from my ring?" "Oh, I always went like this, I hadn't thought of that alternative," Grendel replied while he was tapping the ground with his feet. Soon enough, a big thing made up of iron came from the ground and opened up its mouth. "Amrut, place you hand in the mouth-like structure," I gave a peek to the inside of the mouth, there were blades all over the place inside. I gulped and asked, "I am getting it back right?" "That depends on how worthy you are," Grendel replied. I started to chill. I slipt my hand in slowly. At first contact, the thing closed its mouth, I started yelling I was hoping to get my hand just the way it is. I couldn't feel anything. Suddenly the machine started whirring and slicing. I was screaming so loud that the whirring couldn't be heard any longer. I got so scared that I started to go crazy, I did everything to take my hand out of that thing and run, but there was no use.
After the whirring stopped, I got my hand back, it was the same except my nails were cut and my ring was shining. Grendel said, "The Sathscrayer is a test for all kings and queens to check if they are ready for the staff or if they are not. You have been proved worthy. speak the incantation to start using it at your please." Incantation, what incantation? I was so confused. My friends, however, were laughing about the show I gave when my hand was in the Sathscrayer. I got sick of all this I took off the ring and threw it on the floor. My eyes started to vibrate so fast I couldn't see anything through it; then my eyes glowed and I said the incantation, "on the brightest day, and the blackest night, no evil shall escape my sight, those who worship evils might, shall beware, for my mantle's light."
The ring came back to my finger and I was able to use my ring to make a staff. The staff was epic. "Can we do that too?" asked Arash. "If you wish to live the rest of your life with one hand, sure," Grendel replied. We were given instructions on how to get powers and how to use them. The pixies were supposed to guide us, but they just roam around at every place so, in one way or another, we would get powers.
We were having the best time until I heard a horn, there are two types of horns, and this one means there is someone who has come into Amulet world without any permission. My friends and I ran to the entrance to the world. There was nothing. Alluminous said the person came from my teleporter. "Oh no, I forgot to turn it off!" I said as I switched the portal off. "But who could it be?" asked Arash as we were sure the creature was a human.
When we reach the place all my friends were staring at me, turns out the human was my girlfriend.
