An Unexpected Appearance

cold thunderstorm night, two women holding their infant daughters, sprinting as fast as they could in the rain down the street, soaked all wet.

They slowed down a bit as they were too tired to run but they tried to keep up the speed, as if they were being chased by someone.

Then, one of the women plunged down as she slipped. The other one stopped too, she dreadfully panted. She stretches her hands to her for helping her but she didn't responded. The other one was confused and panicked saying

"Don't you wanna save your daughter's and yourselves life? Come on!"

"What..... Is the point... Of this all? We're destined to die like this maybe.... Suffering and running is no use..."

"What!? Are you crazy!? Then why did you ran all this time? I know... Your daughter is precious to you. Didn't that kept you running all this time no matter how tired you were? We can't lose right now! It's not time to regret when we have come this far!"

"Shut up! I can't keep running now.... I have sprained my ankle.. I've got no more time but.....".

"I-I don't want her... To die". She says and sobs. "Shiron..... Do something... Please".

"Riora..... ".Shiron says and stares at her for sometime then as she was about to continue Riora says

" Here... Take her with you. It's raining cats and dogs she will catch cold, and you too, your child's condition is worse than mine. Go and take them to a safe place." The lightning strikes as she finished her sentence.

"Yeah, that's right..."

Shiron hesitated for a moment, she was concerned about Riora but she couldn't do anything. She takes her child and starts running saying "Good bye.... Riora".

Riora weeps as she sees her leaving, she wishes for Shiron to be safe. Then Shiron disappears in rain.

Shiron doubted her decision, she was in full of scruples about whether she did the right thing by leaving Riora behind to die like that.

It started raining heavier, Shiron was exhausted, she decides on keeping them in someone's safe hands.

She decides, to leave them temporarily at someone's house. She doubted this idea but she didn't had any other choice but to do it. She stood at someone's door and on a piece of cloth she wrote her child's name and age. Then kept ringing the door bell, as she was waiting, she didn't felt like leaving her child away from her but it was for her sake.

Then she heard someone advancing at the door.

She quickly ran away as she heard that,

Then a dark haired, brown eyed young man reaches and opens the door. He couldn't see anyone, he thought it was those teenagers shenanigans but who would do that in a cold night like that. Then he heard a child's cry, he looks down and finds a baby!

He felt pity on that baby so he picks it up and closes the door. The child was all wet and poor thing was shivering, freezing to death.

His wife comes out of the kitchen in surprise to find a child in his hands.

"A child!?" She cried.

"Yeah.... I found". He paused for a second to read the thing written on a cloth of that infant. "I found her on the door step, poor thing is alone maybe she needs our love."

"Poor thing? Was it at our door? Why did someone decided to leave their infant in this cold night?".

"let's sit on the couch and speak honey".

"You didn't answered my question.."

"Uh... I don't know who and why someone left her."

" This child's name is Lia Carsal..... Only a week old."

"I didn't ask that...".

" Come on, believe me I don't know who left her, why did they do this and why to us only".

"Then how can you just consider keeping a child with you which you have just found?". Clora asks.

The child starts crying out loudly, Rin rocked her a bit saying

" No.. No don't cry, don't worry, shh".

The crying doesn't stop, he starts concerning.

"Well....only for tonight, okay?, then we'll take the help of the cops to find her real parents and give her to them".She says cynically then she looks at that helpless child and says "Maybe she has a fever, this doesn't looks good. She's all wet".

As Clora says that, Rin keeps his hand on her forehead and then on her neck which was burning. He says in shock and concern "Yeah... What do we do now?".

"Hand her to me....well it looks like first we need a doctor. I'm gonna take her to paediatrician tomorrow first, then to the cops...".

" Why?" Rin says while keeping Lia on the couch then he continues "Can't we just keep her? Like why do you think somebody just left her, they don't need her anymore, if we hand her to cops and if they find out her parents it's no use... They're gonna leave her again."

"Oh come on, quit complaining, maybe if cops and we tell them it's not right to leave children like this then I'm sure they won't continue this."

"For real? What if they handed her for adoption? Didn't you say you wanted a daughter yourself too?".

"Adoption sounds better..... As the family who'll accept her will love her and take care of her. But I think it's too fast for us to start raising children already."

"Ughh..... Fine." Rin says in a sadfishing manner. "I really wished to raise her though".

"Come on, don't be a big baby, future is ahead of us."

Clora takes her with her to change her wet cloth she was wrapped in to cover her in a dry towel as that's only thing she can find to wrap her in. It was still raining cats and dogs, the night was colder than usual. As she opens Lia's wet clothing she finds something truly devastating about her....

In the living room in the meantime, where Rin had something on his mind. He still kept thinking about what he heard before opening the door. He heard someone panting very loudly and suddenly water splashes as if someone started running. He could hear it clearly as it was raining outside and there was a lot of water 'cause of it, though he ignored it when he opened the door but an unexpected appearance of that person still kept him thinking. Could that person be her parent? Or who? Rin felt guilt on his ignorance.
