Chapter Ten:A LYCAN PACK

 A LYCAN's PACK.

Hazel's POV.

"What is in the pouch?" I asked Lupine.

"This is a Lycan's pouch, it contains all the things they need"he answered.

I made an "O" face and opened the pouch.

The first thing that caught my eye was a small wooden carving of a wolf. It was intricately detailed, this is definitely the work of an expert. It had been carved by the best of the best with great care.

I turned it over in my hands, studying it closely.

"There is something written on the back" I said looking as the inscriptions on the back.

"Can you read it?" Lupine asked.

"I can not, can you? What language is it?" I asked.

"That's lycan script, it is an ancient language, not spoken by many anymore" he said as he leaned in to get a closer look.

My eyes widened. "Can you read it?" I asked, my voice full of wonder.

He nodded and took the wooden carving from me.

"It says, 'The heart of the Wolf is strong and true'" Lupine translated.

"What does that mean " I asked him , my brow furrowed in confusion.

"I think it is referring to the loyalty and honor of the lycan people. We are known for being fierce and noble warriors.

I listened to him attentively as I tried to wrap my head around everything that was happening.

Pointing to a small pouch of herbs, he kept the wooden wolf aside. "Those are healing herbs. They can be used to treat all types and varieties of ailments.

This is a stone pendant, it is believed to bring good luck to whoever holds the pouch." Lupine explained as he pointed at each item whilst he explained their uses and functions.

"What is this?" I asked holding up a small vail of liquid. For some reasons I felt a strange sense of curiosity.

"It is a small vail of liquid, which is said to have mystical properties." Lupine answered.

"What kind of mystical properties?" I asked.

Lupine's Face suddenly turned serious." It's said to have the power to change a person's fate" he said, hit I could sense the rising tension in the air.

"Really?" I asked , my voice filled enthusiasm and renewed hope. This could be my chance to put an end to my sufferings and misery. A chance for me to claim what my mine in the first place. A chance to teach Mum and Harriet a very good lesson.

"Yes, but such things should be used with caution. They can be dangerous if not handed properly" he said, and I felt a shiver run down my spine.

Lupine seemed to read my mind as he said, "I know what you are thinking Hazel, it could be your one chance to go back and get revenge on your parents and sister for using you, but doing that will only make things worse and even more complicated. You are a pure soul Hazel, do not allow yourself to be tainted by your thirst for vengeance."

I nodded, "he was right,I never cared about royalty or any of that shit. And I should not wrestle with pigs for doing that will only make me dirty and covered in mud.

"I know it is not easy, the path you are on is a dark and difficult path, it is filled with trial, obstacles and challenges but I promise at the end you will be free from all that. There are a lot of things you need to know Hazel. The more you learn, the more you will undertake" Lupine said as he kisses my cheeks.

I smiled widely, deciding to close the chapter of getting revenge on Harriet and mother. I took a deep breath, trying to clear my head.

"Let us find a place to sleep" Lupine said and we set off into the forest. We followed a small path that wound through the trees. I inhaled the fresh air, it had the scent of pine and moss.

After a while, we came to another small clearing, where a small cabin stood, it nestled among the trees.

"This is where I live sometimes when I am at this part of the forest" Lupine said.

I looked at the cabin, falling in love with it's rustic charm.

"It is perfect " I said with a wide smile on my face.

"I love it"

"I am glad you liked it, shall we?" Lupine said as he led me inside the cabin.

It was simple but cozy, a small fireplace crackled in the corner castings warm glow over the room. A single bed stood against one wall, two chairs and a small table sat in the center of the room. And a lantern hung from the ceiling.

"Make yourself at home, feel free and comfortable okie?" He said as he cupped my face, looking into my eyes. I felt my heart racing, and this funny feeling in my tummy. Butterflies! I had butterflies in my tummy.

He gazed into my eyes, I could see that his eyes were filled with affection and adoration. His lips met mine. He kissed me slowly and tenderly, I savored every moment.

I could feel the gentleness and reverence in his touch.

"Lupine" I moaned his name in the kiss.

My cheeks felt hot and I broke the kiss.

"Did you just moan?" He asked, looking into my eyes.

"I am sorry" I said, hiding face in my palm.

Suddenly a loud thud was heard outside, a loud ,sorrowful cry was heard.

 "What's happening?" I asked.

"Stay here I will go out and check" Lupine said, but before he could take a step further, the door of the cottage was kicked open.

A dark figure stood at the entrance, its eyes glowing red and a large fireball above its palm.

Hiding behind Lupine, I noticed that the forest was no longer dark. It was now bathed in a bloody glow.
