Chapter nine: EYES IN THE DARK

 THE EYES IN THE DARK.

 HAZEL's POV

Looking at the small pouch in my hand , I was curious to open it ,but I also had to be wary. The forest is filled with evil, and the last thing I want right now is being the center of attention.

Deciding to find a place to sleep, I began my journey into the deeper parts of the forest.

The moon was high in the sky , casting eerie shadows in the forest.

The forest was very dense , with tall trees that stood closer together making it difficult for me to see ahead.

The air was cold and still, the faint smell of damp earth and pine needles filled the air.

A could hear low growls and I knew they were a warning, advising me to tread carefully.

The leave crunched under my feet as I kept walking, my heart pounding in my chest, I could feel the panic rising within me. My breath becomes short and I resorted to shallow gasps as I tried to stay calm.

I could smell the wolves' musky scent on the air, their low growls and the crunch of their paws on the firmest floor, make me agitated.

In a state of panic, I tried to keep moving but my legs felt heavy and slow. Soon they began to tremble and I felt lightheaded from fear and exhaustion.

Scanning the forest for refuge and a place to rest, I spotted a small clearing ahead.

"Make a run for it" I mumbled to myself .

Dragging my feet on the forest floor, I soon reached the clearing, my breath came in ragged gasps.

Just then I heard a deep , rumbling growl behind me. Turning my head over my shoulder, I clutched the hem of my dress.

I could see the wild wolves, their eyes glowing in the moonlight.

"Shit!"

"Language!" One of the wolves said as he stepped forward. It was a large, dark grey wolf, it bared its teeth as it stood in front of me.

"That is not a very nice thing to say when you have guests Hazel" he said as he stepped forward.

I let out a terrified whimper and began to back away slowly. My back hit the hard chest of another wolf, scared to death I could only close my eyes and say my last prayers.

"There is no escape from here Hazel, you are cornered, outnumbered and outmuscled. Curse you mum, curse you Harriet" I mumbled under my breath.

The gray wolf snarled at me and others took a step backwards.

Bracing myself for the worst, I heard a loud thud.

"Do not open your eyes" a voice said.

The sound of someone or something being slammed on the first floor was heard. Followed by a whimper, it sounded like it came from someone in pain.

"Open your eyes" the voice said again.

Slowly, I opened my eyes and saw a fall figure, dressed in a long black cloak. The figure had piercing blue eyes that seemed to glow in the darkness.

Looking around, I realized I was all alone with this mysterious figure.

"Do not hurt me please" I said , closing my eyes in fear.

"I will not hurt you Hazel, it is I, Lupine" the figure said and pulled me to his chest.

Closing my eyes, I listened to his heartbeat and I let the tears run down my cheeks freely.

"Are you okay? He asked, cupping my face , he wiped my tears and fixed my hair.

"Why did you leave" I asked, crying.

"I was all alone. I almost died"

"I am sorry Hazel, I did not mean to endanger you . I went to change into my true form and by the time I was back you were not there. I searched for you. It's a good thing I came at the right time" he said as he placed a kiss on my forehead.

Clutching the pouch in my hand, I looked at Lupine.

"What is in the pouch?" I asked, my eyes on his lips.

"Like what you see?" Lupine said, a small smirk playing on his face.

"Am I allowed to like what i see?" I asked ,biting my lower lip .

"Do not do that Hazel" Lupine said in a deep voice, his eyes suddenly turned dark.

"Do what? Why is your voice deep? What do you want to do to me? I asked ,placing my hand on his hard chest.

"This" he said as he pulled me close to his chest and captured my lips in a slow kiss. The night was quiet and the air was still.

The kiss was soft and gentle, I felt a rush of emotions, like a wave was washing over me. There was joy, excitement and a sense of relief.

Our lips moved together in perfect synchronicity, like we were made for each other. The kiss seemed to last forever, but it also felt like it was over in an instant.

As we pulled away, we gazed into each other's eyes, my hearts pounding.

Shy , I hid my face in Lupine's chest.

"Are you shy?" I heard him ask.

"I am sorry if I did not do it well" I mumbled.

"You did great Hazel, the best I have ever kissed" he said as he cupped my face, looking into my eyes.

I could see something in his eyes for me, not sure what it was but I loved it.

Hugging him , I listened to his heartbeat.

"Don't you want to know what is in the pouch?" Lupine asked, caressing my hair. He made me feel like I was the valuable person in the world, our world.

"What is in the pouch" I asked , breaking the hug and stood in front of him.

"It's called a Lycan's pack" he said , and held my hand.

"It is a small bag that lycans carry with them, it is filled with things that are important to them." He added as we walked away from the clearing.

Opening the pouch, vail caught my eye. It gave me a strange feeling of curiosity.

"What's this?" I asked, holding up the vail.

"It's a vail that contains a special liquid, one with the ability to change a person's fate" Lupine said.

"If I take it,can it change everything? Can I go back home and claim my rightful place as the Luna" my eyes glowed in fury, I had to teach mum and Harriet a lesson.
