Chapter 3

Erin's POV

I had lost count of the number of times I had been to this house no scratch that ,mansion but still never got enough of it's beauty. We had just pulled up in the large driveway .I stared up at the mansion as we walked to the front door . It's exterior was painted maroon and it had large glass windows . Off to the side were large French doors ,that led to the gazebo, swimming pool ,basketball court ,fountain and garden. Maddox's room over looked the garden and from his balcony, you could see all the various flowers; poppies, carnations, daffodils ,roses ,bluebells and more. Maddox had told me the first time I saw the garden that his dad had it made for his mom since she was a lover of flowers. She basically took care of this garden herself and wasn't afraid to get dirty because of it. I was surprised the first time I saw her all sweaty and dirty coming from her garden. I had thought that a woman as wealthy ,sophisticated and graceful as her would have a problem getting her hands dirty. But boy was I wrong ! My respect for her increased at that moment.

The interior manger to leave me in awe every time. The living room was made up of whites, creams and golds ;cream walls ,white and gold furniture. Beautiful glass chandeliers hung above ,a large Tv set ,a large fireplace , beautiful paintings and little golden knick_knacks. Everything screamed wealthy and it was only natural since Maddox's dad own a multi billion dollar shipping and oil company and other resorts and restaurants around the world. It was a family business which had been started by Maddox's grandfather in Greece.

"Hey mom", Maddox greeted and kissed her cheek as soon as we got to the kitchen which looked liked every chef's dream. With its black cabinets,stainless steel and marble counters.

"Hey baby", he groan and I had to bit my lip to stop the laughter that was threatening to come out . He hated that his mother called him that but we all know that he secretly loved it.

"How was your day ?", before he could answer she spotted me.

"Oh hi there sweetie . How was your day ?

"It was okay Mrs. Lykaios"

She gave me a pointed look she always insisted that I called her mom or Lila. Not that I didn't want to but it just felt weird and she understood that. She showed me what it meant to be loved by a mother. My parents never really loved me. They treated me well and all but I never got affection from them. They had wanted a boy since their chances of getting pregnant was slim and unfortunately for them, they got me __a girl. It always hurt me whenever I thought about it. Growing up I tried to please them by doing what their male child would've done __if they had one . I joined the basketball and football teams . I was the only female on the team and I was allowed since I was a fast learner and could play very well. I basically turned into a tomboy but even then, they were never impressed. They missed my games even though I invited them every single time. I still loved them though and I convinced myself that my loved was enough for us.

"Wow ,mom, wow"

"What son ?, Y'know Erin is my favourite person " she playfully winked at him and laughed lightly at the scowl on his face. Maddox was really lucky to have her.

I laughed at this and tightened my arms around her as she pulled me into a hug. She always gave the warmest hugs. I wondered if my mom's hugs felt like this but that's something I'd never know.

She moved gracefully around the kitchen in her knee length royal blue dress. She was a really beautiful and sweet woman . Her long honey brown hair was pulled into a ponytail and she had on minimum jewellery. Just a pair of studded diamond earrings and a sapphire bracelet that match her eyes. Eyes that Maddox had inherited while his older twin siblings Caiden and Ace had inherited their dad's black eyes.

"Well I don't care Erin loves me more ", he shrugged.

"Um what ? "

" And I thought the feeling was mutual ", he turned away with mock sadness and headed upstairs .

I moved to help Mrs. Steele with what she was doing when she stopped me.

"Oh dear you don't have do anything. Leave it to me ,the maids will help me. Why don't you go check on the big baby upstairs ?",she suggested with a smile.

Since she was a famous pediatrician,.she was busy most of the time but she still found time to cook dinners for her family .

I stepped inside his room. It was huge ; twice the size of mine with cool grey and blue walls ,the huge bed were we spent most of our afternoons either doing our homework or just lying in was in the middle of the room with the softest rug laid in front of it There were two doors to the right which led to the bathroom and closet respectively. There was also a huge TV on the wall with PlayStation and game controls littered around on. He also had a set of double doors that led to the balcony from which garden came into view. My other favourite thing in his room apart from his oh so comfortable bed were the soft and absolutely comfy bean bags.

I put my bag down and took a chocolate bar from the drawer beside his bed.

The shower was running so I knew he was taking a shower. I turned on the TV and searched for a movie we could watch to while away time. I saw a series I had been dying to watch and clicked on it.

A few minutes after the movie had began , Maddox come out if his bathroom dressed in grey sweatpants and a white shirt . His usually messy hair was slightly wet and sticking up in all directions.

"What are you watching ?"

"The tomorrow people " ,I patted the space next to me for him to sit.

Many episodes and a load of snacks later we fell asleep with me half lying in him while his hand was wrapped around me.

A maid came to call us for dinner.

Since his older twin siblings, Caiden and Ace and had moved to college last year, it was just going to be the four of us tonight ,his dad_ who was known to be cold and mean by the media but in reality ,he was an amazing person_, his mom ,Maddox and me. Sometimes , we had dinner with our other friends and organized barbecue at each others houses. I didn't have to worry about Aunt Delia, embarrassing me in front them since she hardly stayed at home. Only heavens knew where she always disappeared to One would think, that she'd at least try to stay put since we were practically on the run.

After a really delicious dinner and even more delicious desert, Mrs. Lykaios sent me home with a basket of goodies as usual. Goodies which I knew were going to disappear the moment the others heard that I had them. Already , Maddox had started stealing the chocolate muffins while we were in the car.

I kissed Maddox's cheek as he walked me to my doorstep and thanked him for driving me home.
