Chapter 4

Erin's POV

" So ... you mind telling me what's going on with you ?" , I asked Alley who was currently laying on my bed and munching on some chips . It had been a few days since the dinner at the Steele's and it was the weekend so I decided to have a girl's day with Alley. Heaven knows it's been quite a while since we had a day to ourselves .

The week had passed without incident ,except Alley was acting a bit weird .She had been withdrawn the entire week .

"What do you mean ? ", she asked as she held up a chip and pretended to be studying it.

"You know what I mean Alley . You've been acting weird this past week . Is everything okay?"

"Yeah everything's fine, nothing to worry your pretty head about "

I let out a sigh and dropped the topic. I knew Alley and I knew that whenever she felt comfortable enough to tell me what was bothering her ,she would. I just needed to give her space and I was going to do that.

"Okay how's my sweet boy ? "

"Ugh ! don't remind me of that little monster "

Caleb was Alley's 2 year old brother and the cutest little boy I'd ever seen. He was really energetic since he had only started to walk a few months ago. I loved him to bits and I loved spoiling him.

"What did he do this time ? "

"I woke up with him lying on me and drooling all over my face " ,she made a disgusted face.

"That's my baby "

She threw a chip at me as I laughed at her. I knew she loved him and she really didn't mind.

"I've missed him so much. I 'll stop by to see my baby soon"

" Well I'm sure he'll be ecstatic to see his favourite person"

"Alley Michaelson , is that jealousy I hear in your voice"

"Oh shut up you "

We settled in a comfortable silence before it was broken.

"I just realized that I've never asked you this before" , Alley started.

"What ? "

" Do you have a crush or is there someone you like ? "

I chuckled. "Alley you know apart from you guys ,every other person finds me weird and those who don't are even weirder than me. And you know I hardly relate with other boys ".

"Ugh dumbo I meant among our friends, do you like anyone ? " .

" Hmm, no .nope"

" Really ,not even Maddox ? " Okay what was going on ? This wasn't the first time someone was suggesting that something could happen between Maddox and I or something was already happening.

" C'mon Alley ,he's my best friend. That'd be weird. Maddox doesn't like me that way and I don't like him that way too. You know Nicole likes him and she's more his type than I'll ever be ", Okay I couldn't say that I hadn't thought about Maddox and I being a thing. I had and whenever I had that thought, I put it away as quickly as it came. There were so many reasons why there could never be an 'us'.

"Okay .Hold up. First of all bestfriends can date and you don't know if Maddox likes you that way or not

Who knows ? maybe he does and you and I know that Maddox would never go for the vain and bitchy type like Nicole "

"Well whatever"

"You'd make a cute couple though"

" Just like you and Cole " , I teased.

"Erin ! " she hit me with a pillow but I still saw the smile she was trying to hide .

"That smile though ". She hit me again and I retaliated. After engaging in a mini pillow fight ,we headed downstairs to prepare some snacks for a movie night. Alley had compiled all the latest Indian and Korean series . That was another thing we had in common ; our love for Indian and Korean series .

The boys were not fans of either mostly because whenever we watched together, we spent half of the time fangirling .

After preparing two big bowls of salted caramel popcorn and we grabbed our bag of candies and drinks we had gotten on our quick trip to the grocery store and headed upstairs to my room. My house was a small one storey house .

Downstairs had a small living area with brown sofas that had seen better days and a small plasma Tv . The walls were painted a lighter brown just like even other room except mine which I painted myself. The kitchen was off to the side. We had no dining tables so we ate either in the living room or in our rooms. The rooms upstairs were mine , my Aunt's and the extra bathroom. My Aunt preferred to sleep in the guest room downstairs since most of the time, she was too drunk take the stairs to her room. She had been gone for a few days now and even though I sometimes forgot about her, she was still at the back of my mind like an annoying thought that refused to go away .I just hoped that she was safe wherever she was.

After propping our backs with pillows, we set the snacks in between us and Alley set up the laptop to play the first movie. My room was simple one with a bed big enough for two, a dresser ,a cupboard for my clothes and a desk for my books and other materials with chair in front of it . The walls were painted a soothing violet colour ; a great change from the depressing brown it was. A huge window off the side was covered by lilac curtains. There was a huge bright yellow bean bag Maddox had gotten for me when he realized just how in love I was with the ones in his room. There was a door that lead to the bathroom that contained a shower and luckily for me a tub.

Few minutes into the movie, I picked up my phone to check for notifications since I had put it on silent the whole day . It was an old type but I loved it because I bought it with my own savings.

I had received a text from Maddox over an hour ago.

It read ;

I missed you today

Hope you had a wonderful time with Alley.

Goodnight.

Love you

I smiled on reading the text and replied.

"And you say you don't have a crush on him ".

"Shut up Alley ".

We were dozing off before the credits of the fifth movie rolled in . We put everything away and got ready for bed .Alley and I were almost the same size so she found something to wear since most off my clothes were baggy shirts and sweats. We slept off immediately we hit our pillows.
