A Thousand Worlds

A not so average life ends, and a second one begins. A chance to redeem? Nahhhhhh, a chance to live out dreams would be a more apt description! But as with all, a simple man living out his dreams isn't quite the best of the best, nor the most of entertaining. A chat group (a certainly peculiar one) has been thrown into the mix as well. ==== Find extra chapters at: p@treon.com/stoned_face

A Witch's Confusion

Norfolk, England

Norfolk Command Centre (Heaven),

Elia POV,

A church exorcist, a renowned and relatively powerful one as well, Elia had always been a somewhat intelligent person when compared to the average person and she, she didn't believe for one moment that her former companion had actually killed a person just like that.

Vanishing, she appeared next to the 'corpse' already kneeling with a thoughtful expression, Elia touched the back of her fellow exorcist with closed eyes.

Moments passed in silence before she finally opened her eyes again, first she looked at Samuel... the teenager had frozen in place after uttering words she could only presume were not English... or at least not something she could understand.

Ophis, the Infinite Dragon God, floated some distance away, observing Samuel with mild curiosity in her eyes. It had been true, this.... this man was no weakling. The presence she'd felt then was insane, the scorching heat that lasted for but an instant even more so, so much so that Ophis herself had to back away, clearly alarmed. She raised a hand to her chin, confused as to what could have made her react that way.... She didn't remember such a thing existing. Lastly, why did he deem it right to protect her too? Fully knowing her identity?

"He's alive!" Elia shouted, waving her hand as she stood up, before exhaling loudly, a relieved look on her face..... But how was that possible?

"How is such a thing possible?" The angel from earlier flashed next to her, the previously closed eyes wide in shock, there was no way he could have missed such a thing. The body was a corpse, he would have felt the life force. Closing his eyes, he checked again and found himself pleasantly surprised, however still confused, how was missing a person's death or survival even possible?

"The Lord teaches us patience, it appears you've forgotten that lesson..." He looked down to the priests rubbing their hands in shame before sighing, "As have I. See our guest to some ... proper accommodations? My apologies, I'm not quite used to this yet."

He then turned to Elia, "I hope you can explain this matter in detail later."

With that, the angel was gone in another flash of light.

Samuel looked around with a hint of-, no, nevermind, it wasn't a hint, he had a displeased look on his pale face, the smile he always had was nowhere to be seen, replaced by a monotone and bland look.

"What is the meaning of this, witch?" He asked bluntly, observing the plains of lush green grass with an annoyed expression.

"Oh my, to call me a 'witch'... Well, not that I mind." Echidna, the Witch of Greed, was as easy going as always, her tone carrying a hint of playfulness and curiosity, "As to what I called you here for, you were about to do something quite barbaric."

Samuel looked at the pale skinned woman that had appeared near him, sitting on the grass, for a good few moments before releasing a long sigh, "Yeah... I got you." The silver haired teenager settled down next to her, the annoyance on his face was far from gone but it was now directed towards something else.

"So.... why stop me?" Samuel glanced at the witch from the corner of his eye, yes he was about to attack and possibly burn them all alive but, he didn't see why Echidna would stop him.

"My dear contractor, one of my duties as well as my own personal desire is simply to help you." Echidna 'sneakily' leaned against him, smiling slightly, "That and it's stunting your growth." She confessed with a small sigh, she already understood what his case was and she also knew he was blowing it out of proportion.

"I suppose it is." Samuel stared at the blue sky with a slight smile, the gentle breeze brushing past his skin certainly felt nice.

"Your anger was simply an excuse to hurt them and, you don't even know if the angels were actually trying to help." Echidna explained further, her words were blunt and harsh, all he'd seen was a picture of slaughtered humans with angels in the vicinity sent by Ohkwang, there was no way she bought the angels being responsible and neither did Samuel, it was just an excuse.

"....." Samuel averted his gaze, sighing again, he didn't want to see a therapist because he believed it useless but maybe he needed to.... However, something unexpected happened, a soft and gentle pat on his head brought the teenager out of his musings, even left him surprised, "Never thought I'd see the day." He chuckled, this time genuinely.

"I never thought I'd do something like this either." Echidna smiled gently, standing behind him with one hand on his head, strangely, she sought nothing other than his benefit this time. Not some way to emotionally make him dependent and not some trick either... The Witch of Greed, for the first time in a long time, found herself confused.

Seeing the silver haired teenager's genuine smile, a warm feeling arose inside the witch's cold, unfeeling heart and she froze in place.

"Bye now!" She hastily sent him out of his mindscape.

"Wha-?!" Samuel got cut off by his vision turning dark.

"..." The Witch of Greed, Echidna sat back with a slightly open mouth, a chair manifested under her. She placed a hand over chest, moved and breathed unevenly. How? Was it competence? The idiocy and innocence under all the maturity? The burning desire to improve? The sharply contrasting desires? The similarity between them? His potential?

What could have moved her so?

Echidna..... didn't understand.

Nonetheless, she giggled, "What a sinful contractor." The shaking hand however, made more than apparent just how composed and collected she was.

"Ugh."

"....Oh... welcome back?"

Samuel groggily sat up, rubbing his eyes as he stabilised himself and his posture. He looked around in mild confusion, "Am I inside?" Patrols made up of armoured men, walls on all sides and a really really huge building only some ten metres away.

And,

"What was that?" Samuel's voice carried a hint of confusion, why had she just pushed him out like that? He hadn't even been able to get a good look at her or he'd be able to make some guesses.

"Stop that already." Pushing back his previous thoughts, Samuel pushed away whatever had been continually poking him ever since he woke up.

".....Alive."

Looking to his current 'assailant', Samuel found the infinite dragon god poking him with a wooden branch, "Yeah, I'm alive." He smiled at the little girl, ruffling her hair to get some notion of a calmness, he had always liked children a lot.... He wasn't going to take the fact that she was old as hell as an explanation. She'd fought a whole army in exchange for some candy if he remembered right.

The Dragon God's gaze was only one of curiosity and intrigue, no one had really done that before so it was a new feeling. Once he withdrew his hand, she placed her own hand trying to imitate the feeling to no avail... It just didn't feel the same.

Samuel slightly smiled at her naivety before jumping to his feet and holding out his hand. A longsword appeared, relatively thin but of a superb length but then disappeared again instantly.

Nodding in approval, the teenager dusted himself off before walking away with a casual smile.

There was Echidna's strange act to deal with but, that could come later. He had a mission to complete right now.
