Chapter 02 - Discovering my powers

I woke up in a wooden bed with bandages wrap around my torso.

"Good thing that you are awake now, I found you in the woods unconscious, so I brought you in our village and mend your wounds," A middle-aged man with a bulky build said to me.

"Thanks for saving me, Umm. " I sincerely said.

"The name is Wajowa, You are welcome, but what are you doing in the forest? Did you encounter a bear? That's some nasty wound in your back."

I cannot tell them that I encountered a demon, they will not believe me, "Yeah, I was traveling and got lost, Thankfully, I manage to escape it. Where is my shirt?"

"Haha! Unfortunately, your shirt didn't make it, my wife sews you a new haori," Wajowa said to me then point to the table next to me.

"Thank you for this, I will repay you in the future somehow..." I said as I promise to protect this village from the demons.

Well, Protect from the demons is a big word, I will just make sure that the demon yesterday is killed.

This is a good ground for me to learn about my strengths, And I don't know if I killed the demon last night. I'm not an idiot, normal humans cannot punch a demon out of existence, I know I somehow acquire some power.

"There is some bread downstairs if you are hungry, You can stay as long as you want, I need to leave I got work to do!" Wajowa said to me as he left me alone in the room.

After Wajowa left, I examine my wounds and find it shocking that my injuries are already starting to heal up. I speculate that the mysterious energy that I felt yesterday is the source of my power.

To confirm my theory I sat in Lotus Position and start to meditate.

Minutes turned to hours, little by little I traced the energy to the source, which is my heart, stomach, and brain.

Currently, the energies are working passively, I find that is the cause of my increased strength, senses, and healing.

If I learned how to control this energy even demons will stand no chance against me. But this is broken...because I just learned how to control them in three hours.

I circulate the energy in my brain and information coming from an unknown place informed me about things that I can do.

First, passively increase of strength and senses as I improve my maximum energy.

Second, Minor Night Vission.

Third, Healing, yes I can heal myself and others using my energy.

Fourth, Sacrifice, By damaging my body the energies will run wildly causing a dramatic increase in physical strength and senses. This means the more punishment I received the stronger I get, albeit temporary.

the fifth is the most I am excited about, Auto-Guard, Auto-Guard will passively protect me from any incoming damage, but currently, I cannot use it...for a reason that my maximum energy is not enough.

I think I will unlock more abilities as I keep getting stronger.

I put on the black Haori from the table. The haori have a simple diamond pattern in its sleeve.

I left the room and go downstairs, I need food to replenish my energy.

"You must be hungry, Sit down, let me prepare some food for you," A woman greets me with a gentle smile on her face.

"Umm, good afternoon, thanks for saving me," I greet back the woman as I take my seat.

We both have a conversation where I learn about her name, She is Taekayo wife of Wajowa. She is one of the village's tailor.

She explained to me why I shouldn't go to the forest at night, she said that something evil is lurking around there. I'm quite tempted to tell her about the demon that I encounter last night but decided against it because that will only raise their uneasiness.

"Can I stay in the village for a while? I need some time healing," I questioned Taekayo, but of course I am lying my wounds already healed by actively using heal.

I need to make sure that the demon I fought yesterday is dead, for me to leave guilt-free, These people save me when I needed help, this is the least that I can do to help them.

"Of course! but you need to talk to the village head about that. Though I am sure that he will agree," Taekayo said to me.

After eating, I said my thanks then left the house to talk to the village head.

Outside, I saw a few houses made of wood, with a few farming spaces here and there. Taekayo already notifies me about the direction of the village head and frankly, with the size of the village, finding the village head house is hardly a challenge.

It only took ten minutes to talk to the village head before he points me to an empty house, he said that the family left the village because of the recent disappearance in the forest these past days.

He also said that I am free to use the house but I need to help around the village, it's up to me whether I help in farming, hunting, or logging. He emphasizes the hunting part as dangerous as hell.

The village head left as I entered the house, I close the door and start my training.

My training consists of basic body conditioning, but I need to actively circulate my energies. That way the energies will be spent and came back with more volume effectively making me stronger.

It's been one month but I can't find the demon that I fought, Right now I'm still not sure if I am really in demon slayer.

I don't know if the demon is vulnerable to my energy but I am pretty sure that he is dead or change his territory because the disappearance stopped and any trace of the demon is gone.

Right now I am confident that I can fight the demon without hurting myself.

The sun is already rising, this is the sign that I've finished my patrol this day. Might as well bring some meat to the village before going back.

I close my eyes and concentrate, "Detection," I said as a yellow halo appeared below my feet and expand for a few kilometers. This is a new skill that I acquired, This skill allows me to detect anything within 10 kilometers.

I detect a few boars but I decide to hunt some deer, I dash toward the direction of the dear before unsheathing the machete that the village head gave to me when I decide to be a hunter.

Even if the machete is pretty rustly, I still manage to deliver a clean cut to the deer's neck, killing it instantly.

"Requiescat in Pace, Your meat will be nourishment for good people," I said before carrying the deer on my shoulder.

I reach the village for an hour then deliver the deer to the butcher, After having a conversation with the butcher I left to go home.

I plan to leave the village tomorrow, I need to know where I am and the only way to answer that is to find the demon slayer corps if there is any.
