Speaking to the Cullens

POV Change - Alex (1st Person)

Feeling my vision shake slightly, I looked back to Edythe, feeling whatever damage done to my face heal itself quicker than I thought possible.

Edythe looked positively pissed off with me at the moment, her usual gold eyes nowhere to be seen as her onyx black eyes stared me down. She must be thirsty. But I guess anger takes precedence over thirst sometimes.

She went to slap me again and I could have dodged, but I just let her do what she wanted, knowing I owed her at least this much.

This time, however, my head didn't move to the side. The only reason it had done so before was because I was taken by surprise. When I thought another slap was coming my way, Edythe's hand just laid itself against my cheek before she looked at me with a weird mix of anger and gentle worry.

"Why did you have to get yourself so injured, Alexander? You don't know how much you made me worry..." her voice trailed off at the end before she realized what she was doing and rushed away before I could reply and stop her.

...I guess she needs time. Maybe I need some time as well.

Looking to Carlisle, I gave a weak grin before speaking, "You wanna know what happened, Carlisle?" I pointed at my newly transformed body and Carlisle was eager to know, so I sat back down on the table I was just lying on and motioned for Carlisle to take the seat next to it.

Then I got to telling him about how I suspected the Venom had awoken something in my Lycan gene.

. . .

"So, you suspect that the danger of the Venom kick-started something in your body and caused it to awaken some form of hidden potential...well, it could make sense. You're a living creature and you can grow," Carlisle paused for a moment before carrying on, "Most living creatures grow the most under pressure, so maybe that's what happened - the Venom gave your body the pressure needed to unearth whatever this," he motioned for my partial transformation, "is."

Hearing him I gave a nod before I asked if I could have some time to myself as I needed to sort out my appearance at the moment. Carlisle of course understood and went on his way.

I sat there for a while, trying to pull back the transformation but it was useless. I tried to consciously change it back with commands in my mind like 'Human Form' 'Fur Off' and 'Change' but nothing happened.

It wasn't until I started picturing what form I wanted to move back into that I even got somewhere.

When I thought about changing back into my old form, I started to lose my claws, and then the fur on my hands. I had to keep my concentration up because I knew my progress would go down the drain if I didn't.

Slowly but surely my fur disappeared, along with my elongated teeth and I presume my eyes that I could tell were different without even seeing them.

When I opened my eyes, I looked at myself in the mirror and saw one thing that hadn't changed:

My hair.

It was still wild looking and unkempt like it needed a good combing, and it was still longer than I usually kept it. Sweeping my longer than usual hair back with a hand, I kept it out of my eyes like this and looking at myself it reminded me of Vergil's hairstyle from DmC: Devil May Cry, just a bit wilder.

I tried to make it go back to my normal brown colored hair but it just wouldn't and I couldn't stop the groan from coming from my mouth.

Sure, silver hair is cool and all, but not if everyone's gonna ask you why your hair isn't brown anymore. Questions, questions, questions, that's all it's gonna be from my dad and Bella for the next for days.

Can't blame them, though. I'd probably do the same thing. At least I can get Bella off my back by telling her it's a Lycan thing.

Picking myself back up, I walked to the door and headed on my way to the front room where I could hear people talking. About me, as you'd probably guessed.

It seems after whatever had happened, my senses and overall strength had improved by quite a lot. I was now definitely stronger than an average Vampire and faster than an average Vampire. I could even be considered of similar durability to a Vampire's crystal-like skin, despite being made purely of flesh.

My energy felt a bit weird at the moment, and a lot of the energy was hanging around above my mouth, making something change there, but I didn't know what, so I guessed I'd find out once it was finished. The energy had a slightly sinister feel to it now, and I guessed it must be because it had copied the characteristics of the Vampire Venom I had flowing about my body. Or at least some of them.

Making my way into the room, I caught the back end of the conversation.

"You saw what he looked like! I saw that he looked exactly like those bloody cultists who worship the Moon when they start changing! We need to rid ourselves of our relationships with him before the Volturi find out and kill us all!" Rosalie screamed, unbefitting of her beautiful appearance, throwing her arms outward to emphasize her point.

But Edythe scoffed, smirking in disdain at Rosalie, "Do you see a full moon in the sky, Rosalie? It's not even night time, so how would he start changing like them?" she waited for an answer that never came so she carried on, "He's different from the Children of the Moon. You just hold a bias against Wolf-like Supernaturals because of the incident where one bit your neck and scarred you for a few years. You're asking us to abandon him to the Volturi all because you couldn't keep up your facade of being the innocent and pretty princess of the coven because you pissed off some Werewolf decades ago!" Edythe yelled, shaking the air with her anger, "Please learn how to look beyond yourself for once in your eternal life, Rosalie. For your sake."

The two women glared at one another, Rosalie's gold eyes looking slightly ashamed of herself, and Edythe's onyx black eyes* also looking ashamed of Rosalie.

(*A/N - A Vampire's eyes go black when they're thirsty. At least in the Twilight universe.)

Emmett went to move in between them but he was stopped by Edward who looked toward me, which made Emmett look toward me as well.

Both of them looked at me cautiously and I wondered why but after seeing I hadn't released my claws or anything, I guessed it must be because they thought my silver hair was because I was getting ready to attack.

To put them at ease, I smiled before speaking.

"Edythe is right, Rosalie - not about any of the coven drama she's going on about, I genuinely have no clue on whether that's true or not - but I am something different. I'm a Lycan, not a Werewolf or a Shapeshifter but something different," smiling I walked over to the middle of the room before turning around with a toothy grin, "Any questions? I've been holding back this information for a while, but if it's so you can finally calm down a little without getting the Volturi involved, I'll share it~"

Rosalie was quick to take out her annoyance on me and fired a question at me, "So, what's so different about you when compared to the other Dogs?" her tone was pretty venomous and she squinted her eyes at me very menacingly.

Ooo I'm terrified~

Coughing to compose myself and not say exactly what I just said, I replied to her with the same toothy grin I had when first addressing them.

"Well the first difference, Missy, is the start point," I held up two fingers before carrying on, "Werewolves and Shapeshifters were Humans who desired the powers of Wolves, so they became Wolves," I held up one finger on my opposite hand, "Lycans, on the other hand, are wolves who became Humans to further their own power. It may not seem too different but it's a difference between the sky and the ground in terms of purity."

What I said seemed to get all the Vampires in the room thinking before Edward finally asked another question with a curious look, "What do you mean by purity?"

Thinking of how to put it into words, I pulled some of the information I gained after the dream before answering.

"Well, if I were to put it in any way, it would be that it doesn't mean the purity of the bloodline, or the heritage - though this can affect power - it's more to do with the purity of the instincts or the mentality." I paused for a second, forming what I'd say next in my head before carrying on, "A Human who turns into a Wolf doesn't truly understand what it's like to be a Wolf. They'll always be a human pretending to be a Wolf. But a Wolf who turns into a Human will always be a Wolf, no matter what. It's that kind of purity that allows Lycans to be stronger than Shapeshifters and Werewolves - we're purer in our wolf sides, and it only serves to complement our Human side."

The room went silent before Emmett looked at me with a confused face, "So...you're saying you're a wolf who became a Human?"

"No," I started, sounding slightly annoyed, "The first Lycans were wolves who turned into Humans. Their children were already Lycans when they were born. I was born as a Lycan but it didn't awaken until recently. All Lycans have a human form that we primarily stay in - it helps blend in with Humans. But," I paused before transforming myself into my partially transformed state, fur growing across my body making me look like the perfect mix between Wolf and Human, while still seeming civilized and not too animal-like, "This is what we actually look like. There are further transformations but I can't access them yet."

Once again, the room went silent and I just let them think about what I showed them, while I drew back my transformation, the fur, and claws disappearing once again.

Seeing none of them were going to speak, I spoke up instead, "I'd appreciate it greatly if you didn't tell the Volturi about me. Or if you do, make sure my family is kept out of it. I've said all I need to most of you," trailing off, I looked over at Edythe who flinched when she made eye contact with me, "Edythe, can I talk to you outside for a minute?"

She stiffly nodded before flashing outside. I smiled at the others and left them to do their thinking.

Walking outside, I followed Edythe's scent and found that she was about 100 meters away, so I dashed over to her. I was a bit unsteady on my feet, my improved strength from whatever the Venom did making my control a bit lacking and causing me to fumble about.

Finally, I arrived in front of her and saw her fidgeting about but when she saw me, she tried to put on a cold facade.

Though I saw right through it.

"What do you wish to talk about, Alexander?" Edythe spoke first, her voice indifferent but I could hear the faintest shake at the end of her words, showing she was actually a bit nervous.

Smiling, I walked over to her and looking down gently at her, "I've only come to tell you a few things - talking would imply I'm willing to change my mind," my gentle look turned into one of teasing.

After my dream, a lot was put into perspective. More specifically, the pain before the dream put things into perspective...the fact I felt like I was dying put things into perspective.

Before she could reply, I spoke up again.

"I won't stop," I stated with some finality, to which Edythe tilted her head with a puzzled look, her onyx eyes squinted in confusion. Seeing her confusion, I carried on, "I mean, I won't stop whatever it is we are, Edy. Until you can sincerely say you want nothing to do with me, and until you hate me or when you're completely indifferent to me, I won't stop trying," I looked off into the distant, a determined but hopeful look on my face, "You said you were worried about me earlier: Until that ability to care for me is gone, Edy, I won't stop trying."

She went to speak but all that came out was stammering nonsense, her ability to speak gone, but she didn't need that to do what she wanted.

*Slap!*

Another stinging sensation spread across my cheek but I ignored it and looked back at her, staring her in the eyes as she practically screamed at me.

"What about Leah!? How do you think she will feel about this?! Think before you act, Alexander, maybe we would not be in such a situation if you had!" she went to slap me again but I grabbed her wrist mid-air and stopped it, all the while smiling gently at her.

"Yep, you're right, Edy - I'm an idiot," I sighed, "But I'll be the one to tell Leah as soon as I see her. She'll probably try and tear me apart but she deserves the truth and I deserve a slap or twenty off of her," I laughed lightly before carrying on, "It may be hard to believe, Edy, but I hold romantic feelings for the two of you...and you should more than know that you cannot control who you fall for," smiling at her weakly, I let her hand go which flopped to her side before she looked up at me with sad eyes.

"Why? Why do you still have to be so...so, 'you'?" she started before her sadness was swept away by more anger, "Why do you have to be such a...such a, a lustful pig!" she stuttered out under her anger and I just laughed knowing she was right.

"Well, I'd prefer to be called a greedy wolf, but..." I chuckled at my joke before carrying on after seeing Edythe's glaring, "I just want you to think over what I've said. Unless you completely, sincerely, and genuinely want me to, I won't stop trying to keep, whatever we have, going along," I sighed before saying the last thing I'd say, "Call me selfish, call me greedy, but I won't let what means something to me, disappear from my life."

Taking in a deep breath, I looked over at Edythe for one last time, I smiled before saying my goodbye, "I'll leave you to think about it then. See ya later, Edy," I waved at her as I jogged back to the house as I needed to borrow a shirt and some shoes and find out how long I was under.

Then off back home to explain how I randomly dyed my hair silver...and then talk to Leah.
