A Peek Into The Past PT. 1

A young boy with wavy black hair sat in a school bus, the kids around him were making so much noise that he could not comprehend why they were so noisy.

This child liked to be in his own world, jotting things down in his notebook.

"Oi dork! What the hell are you doing?" A boy with green hair said right before sitting beside him.

"Shut up and get lost…" The black-haired boy responded.

"Damon, you can't continue keeping to yourself. I might be your brother but you need other friends as well," The green-haired boy said.

"Leave me alone Peter!" Damon warned.

Peter knew he couldn't force his brother to do anything that he didn't want to.

He rolled his eyes in frustration.

"Yo Pete! Get over here and leave that loser you call a brother!" A boy shouted from the back.

Damon's fist tightened, and this was something that Peter took note of.

He knew the words of this person hurt his brother, he inhaled deeply before exhaling.

He got up to his feet and gestured for his friend that had insulted his brother to come.

Peter was bigger than his age group so he was far more intimidating than the rest of the kids.

His friend thought nothing of this and hurried to Peter.

"Yo Pete, what's good?" He asked, the boy was a head shorter than Peter.

"Apologize…" Peter demanded and everyone was surprised by this because Peter has never shown an aggressive side to himself before.

"Huh? Why should I?" The boy responded; he had brown hair, with eyes matching this colour but he was also on the bigger side in terms of the weight class.

"Do it or I will fucking force you to!" Peter threatened, this was also the first time that anyone had heard him curse out the way he did.

The boy immediately knew that this was serious and Peter wasn't messing around.

"Yo chill out dude…" He quickly tried to calm Peter down, right before refocusing his attention on Damon who continued to jot down in his note.

"Yo, I'm sorry little man… I didn't mean any offence…" The boy apologized and he sounded genuinely scared.

"Oi dork, do you forgive him or do you want me to kick his ass?" Peter asked and a faint smirk created Damon's face as he realized the lengths his brother would go to for him.

"You can't go beating up people or you will get expelled, doofus…" Damon said and this indirect response gave Peter his answer.

A peaceful resolution was reached but this boy felt humiliated that Peter would make him go through such.

This boy was known as William.

School ended and everyone returned home, Peter and Damon decided to walk because the bus had left earlier than they thought it would that day.

They walked in silence but that silence was extremely powerful.

They never felt closer than they did that day.

Peter teased him a lot but he never allowed anyone else to do that to Damon because he knew that theirs were meant to disrespect his younger brother and that was something he couldn't have.

"Do you know what mom will be cooking for dinner?" Peter broke the silence with a simple question.

"God no. I hope it is dad that cooks…" Damon responded prompting Peter to laugh.

"Damn! That's cold lil' bro!" Peter laughed.

"We both know mom can't cook," Damon said with a sigh.

"That, you're right…" Peter said as he threw an arm around his neck.

They got him a few minutes later, it was already late and their mother was visibly relieved when they walked through that door because they had been a series of killings and kidnappings in the area.

She hugged both her children and scolded them a little for missing the bus but she knew that Peter must have done so intentionally because he never did.

And she also noticed that Damon looked a lot happier than when he left home this morning.

"Go freshen up you two… I have made something to eat, it's a new recipe…" She sounded genuinely proud but both boys looked horrified at the idea of eating a new kind of poison.

They looked at each other with wide eyes before quietly walking to their shared room.

Their family was a happy and healthy one, they had a mother that loved them immensely and a father that provided yet still made time for his family.

The boys freshened up and returned downstairs, their father was already home and he had taken his wife to the bedroom to brief her about his day.

He did this every day because she was a major part of his world even though Peter thought this was just an excuse for them to have sex.

The door opened and both parents came out but they looked a little gloomy.

Damon didn't notice this because they tried their hardest to wear fake smiles but this didn't go unnoticed by the older brother.

The thing both boys didn't know was their parents had powers and were part of something a lot bigger than themselves.

They kept this fact hidden because there was a high chance that both their kids would never awaken their powers. After all, if they did, 'they' would want them.

Their mother had a unique power to mutate the genes of those yet to awaken into that of normal humans, this kept the genes dormant only to awaken in a near-death situation as desire played a major role in terms of breaking through her 'seal'.

They allowed them to live lives as normal children, they wanted them to experience what it was like to be human but right now, their world was about to come crashing down because their father had just revealed something that should never have been uttered.

They ate dinner in silence, something that was unusual as their father always kept them entertained with stories. Now, Damon was feeling it, not just Peter.

"We're screwed…" Their father carelessly blurted out.
