Fred Rescued?

Damon arrived at the approximate location that Fred was said to be, the distance made him use up considerable energy considering he has been travelling long distances throughout that day but it was because of an emergency.

The place he arrived in was desolate, devoid of any lifeform whatsoever but he could smell blood.

Damn proceeded with caution as a building was right in front of him.

He could see a trail of blood leading into that building, Damon wasn't stupid and entertained the possibility that this might be a trap.

Damon called out to Fred and all he heard were muffled sounds, he was clearly gagged and Damon knew that no one could catch him off-guard thanks to his power.

He barged into the room and there was only a single lightbulb lit and it hovered over the head of Fred.

Fred looked like he was trying to tell him something but there was no way for Damon to discern what that was until he removed the gag and binds.

But the moment he took a step into the room, the light bulb blew and Damon could smell gas.

The spark within the bulb ignited the room, and a huge explosion consumed everything in sight, this brought down the entire building.

Luckily, Damon was able to escape with Fred during the genesis of the explosion and he didn't escape unscathed as his right arm was burnt but it was minor.

Damon was breathing heavily, he used his teleportation to appear in front of Fred, touching him before using it again to escape.

These uses were taking a toll on his stamina and Damon was showing visible distraught.

"Are you okay, Fred?" Damon asked as he yanked the gag from his mouth.

This trap was effective and could have killed anyone that wasn't him depending on their superpowers but Fred would most likely have died in most of these scenarios.

"I-I'm safe… How did you find me?" Fred asked but Fred also didn't know where he was or what had happened and this was evident by the look of confusion on his face.

"You were taken by the enemy, Fred…" Damon reminded him.

"Enemies, what are you talking about?" Fred replied; this was something of concern for Damon.

"We aren't alone…" Damon thought and he also realized he needed time to charge up his energy for long-distance travels as he had used it far too many times already.

"Woah! You were right, Thanatos!" Gina blurted out; the moment Damon heard that name, a horrified look replaced the concerned one he had moments ago.

Damon jerked his head in that direction and behold, the man named Thanatos towering behind Gina.

"Fred! Get out of here!" Damon warned but the look on Fred's face changed.

He was neither scared nor fearless, he was frozen in place like a switch had been flipped in him.

Gina wanted to speak but Thanatos stepped in front of her, he only ever did this if the enemy was too much for Gina to handle.

"W-Why are you here!?" Damon questioned but Thanatos had an interested look on his face.

Damon realized soon after that he wasn't looking at him but past him, he was looking at Fred.

".... Fred?" Damon questioned the moment he got up to his feet but Fred was unresponsive to him, his eyes looking lifeless.

He began walking towards Thanatos like a puppet and Damon seemed to know what was happening.

"I didn't know you were involved in this! If I had known, I would never have sent them," Damon said but Thanatos didn't respond to him as his eyes were focused on Fred.

Thanatos was a popular villain whose rank was unknown, he usually engages in assassinations as was common in the villain occupation but it seems that he found a way to offer his service to the Razor Riddler, a man that was often called the "Crownless King".

Damon forcefully grabbed his arm but was met with aggression, Fred attempted to punch him right in the face but Damon dodged this attack easily by tilting his head in the opposite direction before kicking Fred away.

Thai created distance and an opening, allowing Damon to appear behind the younger boy using his powers and knocking him out with a swift hit to the neck.

There was no doubt that Fred was under his influence and it would be problematic if he had to fight Fred.

"Hahaha! Thanatos! He has ruined your little game!" Gina mocked him but something was frightening with his silence.

Fed, despite being unconscious, got up to his feet and continued walking towards Thanatos.

"Have we met before?" Thanatos asked but Damon had a hard time responding to him.

"Y-You don't remember?" Damon asked and Thanatos raised a brow.

"I know we have met but I can't quite wrap my head around it. Did I kill your parents, child, siblings, a lover perhaps?" Thanatos asked.

This was nothing short of impressive, if he had this much control over Fred then it was pointless using him as bait as he could have done so in other ways so was this an attempt to make Damon exert even more energy?

"You took everything from me!" Damon said but all he saw was Thanatos throw something aimed right at Fred's head, this was dirty because Thanatos knew that Damon would move in to save him.

This was the negative of having someone you care about, they become a liability.

Damon utilized his teleportation to push Fred out of the way while also narrowly avoiding the attack himself but before he could compose himself, he saw Thanatos standing right in front of him.

Damon thought about using his teleportation but there was no need to use it at such a distance but pointed at his head was a cocked gun.

"I do remember you…" Thanatos muttered…

"... And that's why I have to kill you," The moment the villain said this, a gunshot echoed with nearby birds fleeing.
