A Peek Into The Past PT. 2

They abruptly pulled their children out of school as they prepared to leave the country as they knew that this was their only chance of survival.

The father acted swiftly and one could say it was because of this act that they were able to escape the jaws of this threat.

The country that they eloped to was no other than Greece, Greece was a beautiful country with a low cost of living with an interesting culture to boot.

It was hard to imagine that this was a getaway country as both Damon and Peter found themselves involved in far more fun activities than they did in the United States.

The girls were beautiful and it didn't take long for Peter to find a girl he became romantically involved with.

Their parents could live out the remaining of their lives without working and this was partly due to the cost of living. However, their father didn't remove himself from the world he ran from as he had to find a way to keep tabs on what was happening or if they were any closer to being found.

He had a colleague he trusted with his life, he was a politician but he was still quite low on the ladder.

His identity was kept a secret as his involvement could never be revealed or it would put a target on just his political ambition but life as well.

But the thing with politicians is that their ambition often far outweighs their loyalty to those around them as long as sacrificing those friends helps them rise.

Damon's father was about to be a recipient of such betrayal but the reach of those he ran from had a very limited reach here or so they thought.

That and he had protection, he was superhuman and knew it would be foolish not to make allies that possessed superpowers as well.

Damon's father was in no way a good man, one could say he was a supervillain with close ties to the Four Kings and the information he managed to get was capable of revealing the identity of The King In The South, this was something that could never be allowed to happen as it would disrupt the balance of the underworld.

It was once believed that the Four Kings were situated in the United States and their axis were the states they governed but what if it was the world and their axis were the continent they governed?

This would mean that there was no escaping them for wherever you go, they had eyes there.

So what made Greece special?

There was said to rest a superhuman so powerful that no one dared oppose him and even the Four Kings dare not anger this person making it a sanctuary for people that wanted freedom.

The crime rate was zero, everything anyone wanted, they had at least if it constitutes basic needs.

It felt like Greece was being dictated by a God but some people found a way around this.

Ομάδα Θανάτου they called themselves translates to Death Squad.

They originated from Greece and one of their members had a strange ability to distort the eyes of the All-Seeing God.

The Kings didn't need to step foot there as long as mercenaries existed that wanted to carry out this task.

In a room with flickering lights and four figures sparsely seated, walked in a fifth.

"We have a mission…" An extremely tall young man in his early twenties with black eyes and wavy green hair that is at shoulder length. He wore a long-sleeved collared shirt with suspenders and dark pants. He had a long scar running vertically along the side of his left eye.

He went by the name Polyphemus as he briefed them on just what kind of mission this was.

"Polyphemus, nothing is worth angering God… I was only able to hide from his gaze because we weren't taking a life! We cannot escape him if we do this!" A tall dark-skinned woman with straight chin-length dark hair, brown eyes and full lips. She wore a black long-sleeved low-cut shirt with form-fitted trousers and dark knee-length boots.

She went by the name, Electra.

"Money is worth anything…" The youngest in the room spoke, Thanatos looked the same as he did in the modern day but he was only younger.

"... And if you're too scared to do it, then I will do it alone but don't you dare think you're entitled to the commission…" Thanatos said.

"Thanatos now isn't the time for such foolishness. The target is a renowned person that had the means to escape the Kings…" Polyphemus warned as he knew the only way they stood a chance is if they tackled it as a team because killing the target wasn't the problem.

The aftermath was that they didn't want to face the wrath of the person they referred to as God.

"Are you that afraid of God? The moment the eyes of God gaze upon me is the moment I will pull him down from his throne and kill him," Thanatos said, getting up from his chair but someone snickered upon hearing this.

"You have no idea who we call God, do you?" A deep-voiced man questioned, silhouetted by the darkness in the part of the room.

Both Polyphemus and Electra froze upon hearing the voice of the man that was supposedly the leader of this group because he was the only one to gaze at God and survive only because God didn't gaze back.

"The day God sees you is the day you will die," The man said, coming into view as both Polyphemus and Electra averted their gaze because the man before them was so horrendously deformed that death would have been a far kinder fate than life.

His face looked like it was melting off his skull, and his limbs looked distorted as well.

He might have survived yet it felt like he died at the same time. Even Thanatos was visibly unsettled by this as well because this man before them was the strongest in their squad, he went by the name Hades.
