Race and Digging one’s own Grave

<Sorry it's late I had a date yesterday(writing day) and spent all day with her then she told me she was poly and made me expresso depresso so I just crashed.>

Cain's large body bowed forward as he stretched like a cat his mouth open wide in a yawn displaying his razor-sharp teeth. Emmett to his side was swinging his arms across his chest while bouncing on his toes. Alice to the surprise of nobody was still indulging in the softness of Cain's fur.

'Ready to get your ass kicked old man.' Cain's body shuddered in laughter and excitement as his eyes narrowed. "Ready to show you your place little boy. Babe count us down please." Replied Emmett with a deep laugh. Sighing Rosalie stood on the front seat of the jeep as she started the count.

"Ok. On go 3, 2, 1... Go!" Their feet tore into the ground as they shot off with a bang. Morphing into a blue and a black blur respectively soon entering the forest. Rosalie sat back in the jeep and slammed on the gas. The off-road tires threw up gravel as she followed them from the driveway.

Edythe and Jasper just shook their heads from in the Volvo. They just slowly pulled out of the driveway going at their own pace. Edward just sat in the back seat staring wistfully out the window.

Emmett and Cain flashed swiftly as they swerved through the trees. Emmett's muscular body charges through small obstacles in his way like a juggernaut. Whereas Cain's lithe body spun and twisted as he appeared to float through the forest.

Alice held tightly to Cain with a large smile plastered on her face as she laughed joyously. Sure she could run this fast as well but there was something different about riding on Cain. She got to enjoy the speed at no cost. Not to mention Cain's movements were putting roller coasters to shame.

'Don't tell me this is all you got old man. This is just a light jogging pace.' Cain spoke while jumping over the buky boy. His feet landed on the latter's shoulders before pushing off and shooting ahead of him. His body seeing to weigh nothing as he launched himself not even affecting Emmett.

"Get back here you damn fox and I'll make a nice coat out of you!" Emmett roared as he gritted his teeth and ran with all his strength. But try as he might he could only see the flicker of blue get further away from him.

Cain felt unfettered as he bound through the forest. His body was unbound by the laws of gravity as he could use even leaves as a foothold. His leaps bring him closer to the canopy with each step as he used even the smallest branches to accelerate. The race was forgotten as he enjoyed the wind in his fur.

His mind raced as he ran. 'This is what I've been missing. My runs in the past always felt like they were constricting.' With a light push on a leaf his body shot skyward. He and Alice left the confines of the forest as they were greeted by the gray sky and the slight orange of the sunrise in the clouds.

Realizing the change in environment Alice sat up. Her hands held onto his fur as she marvels at the scenery. "Beautiful." Her voice was a mere whisper as she watched them flash by the treetops. 'More there has to be more.' She was returned to her senses as Cain's greedy voice was heard.

His every jump becomes longer and higher. 'I can do MORE!' His voice became a yell as his body started to glow blue. Whisps formed around his paws as they seemed to claw at the air but were unsuccessful. His voice became anxious as he continued. 'No! It's so close.' His movements became frantic as the blue started to flicker.

"Cain calm down!" Alice yelled as she hugged his neck. Her words were ignored as he came to a halt. His paws stood on nothing but air as they floated there. His breath became labored as his light grew dimmer and dimmer. He did it. It felt as if something clicked within him.

His body felt unbound from the world around him. Like he was free from all burdens and responsibilities. His soul unleashed from it's bounds as it floated free. Alice upon his back sat up straight as she looked to the distance.

They now stood far above the trees and could see far into the distance. The typically grey clouds on the horizon speckled with color as the sun rose in the distance. Alice has seen it plenty of times before. Be it from the top of trees or mountains and planes but this was new for her.

It wasn't much different visually but it felt so much different to her now. The wind through her hair and the soft and warm fur of Cain beneath her. The smell of the fresh dew and his fur. The faint flickering blue that reflected from Cain's fur contrasted with the dawn of the day.

"So beautiful." Alice couldn't help but lightly exclaimed as she flopped onto Cains's back once again. Her arms wrapped around him as he slowly trotted through the sky. Her head tilted to the side so she could watch the sunrise.

'Ya, it is. I can't believe I've been missing this.' Cain's now calm voice spoke in her head as he slowly lowered their altitude. 'I always felt like something has been missing when I ran. But no more.' His paws landed on a tree beside the long-awaited road as he looked down.

His majestic figure perched atop a large branch glowing dimly as the orange and grey of the sunrise surrounded his figure. Emmett clearing the forest and stopping beside the road knowing good and well he lost but still saw no sight of Cain to his confusion.

Looking down at Emmett Cain's eyes narrowed into grinning slits. Silently his body flickered from the top of the tree. His figure landed behind Emmett as he spoke. 'So you are slow and blind now.' Emmett's head whipped around as he jumped back. "Holy fuck dude are you a ninja or something." He said while holding his nonbeatting heart.

Raising an eyebrow as he closed the distance again. 'I guess I can mark giving a heart attack to a vampire off my bucket list. Are you ok old man you aren't about to start breathing on me are you?' his body bucking slightly launching Alice up as he shifted back. Her small figure landing back in his arms in a princess carry.

Emmett rolled his eyes as he watched the giggling Alice bury her face into Cain's bare chest. Cain just smiled warily at Emmett as he originally planned to put her down. Breaking the silence Alice brought Emmett couldn't help but ask. "So how the hell did you move like that man? I hardly felt you kicking off me."

Cain chuckled slightly ashamed. "Actually I'm not too sure myself. It's just as I ran I felt like I was getting lighter and lighter. Eventually, I got lost in it and kept running past here. Then before I knew it I could do this." As he finished his body lit up lightly and he took a step into the air. His whisps flare as his foot seemed to step on nothing.

Emmett's eyes widened as he looked at the now-floating Cain. "Dude no fair I wish I could fly. All the positions I can do with Rose up there." His mind started to wander towards the end as he whispered the last part but it could still be heard. Alice buried her head deeper as her mind also started to run rampant.

Seeing the dazed Emmett the corner of Cain's lips started to raise into a smirk his eyes narrowing. Transmitted his voice into the large boy's head causing him to be startled back to reality. 'I'm going to tell her you ranted about all the things you would do to her.' His words sent a shiver down Emmett's spine.

"You wouldn't..." His words stopped short as he saw the mischievous looks in Cain's narrowed eyes. "No, don't you dare you dirty fox." Hearing the panic in Emmett's voice was all the incentive he needed. Turning Cain shot off down the gravel road. Followed by a roaring Emmett.

"Cain you better not!" Cain's laughter rang through the woods as the large boy tried desperately to catch him. "You would have to catch me first old man." He yelled back as Emmett lost sight of him around a turn. "Fuck she is going to kick my ass again."

After a short time, Emmett came to the two speeding cars he saw a furious Rosalie sitting in front of the jeep. In the back sat a smirking Cain as he looked at the desperate Emmett. Quickly hopping into the passenger side Emmett quickly spoke before she could.

"Don't listen to that damn fox, I sware I didn't say anything perverted about being able to fly. I only thought of all things I could do if I could fly I didn't say them out loud I swear...." Cain's smile grew bigger in the back seat as he watched Emmett spill his heart in apology.

"Emmett I didn't say anything. I only told her to pretend to be angry." His wide grin and the tip of his filtering tail that was in Alice's embrace told the bulky boy all he needed to know about the grave he jumped into.
