"We can't do anything" was the one sentence that was repeating over and over in everyone's mind.

Even though Karthikeyan's thoughts weren't that extreme, he still found himself scared.

Until now, since the battlefield incident, he has leveled up two times, leaving him at level 13.

Seeing this new disaster pop out, he unhesitatingly added 2 points to his physical power and the remaining 4 points to his speed.

He was able to level up twice, as the experience needed to level up from 12 to 13 wasn't 80000 but, in fact, 50000.

This was also why Levis was able to level up to level 15 easily, as only 80000 exp was needed to level up from level 14 to level 15.

Leaving a satisfying sigh now that he was ready to take on any disaster, Karthikeyan stood his ground and listened to the frantic orders of Levis.

Jacob, who was approaching them, suddenly raised his hand in the air and chanted some spell, to which a fireball was soon formed and cast.

Due to some of the members being frozen, what they might have dodged earlier was now very difficult to dodge.

Like that, only 10 people remained, all of whom were above level 11.

"Well, now that's a very good team to take on," Jacob said while licking his lips.

All these previous days, he had been suffering innumerable losses, even though he was the one making progress while steadily declining the members of the human faction.

He feared that he might have to one day let Oluz suck his soul out.

This fear was propelled to a new height when he heard news that the village was now being plundered and that there was a chance that higher-level humans existed here.

But seeing that some puny humans were the ones causing him all the trouble, he decided to go all out and kill them mercilessly while torturing the leaders responsible for this.

Just thinking of what he would do to them to relieve himself of the stress he held made his heart feel in a state of ecstasy.

"Jacob, make sure to take them all out," Oluz said with a tone of authority. Even though he appreciated that the humans were steadily declining, he didn't appreciate the fact that the demons were dying like flies.

It was a problem, as when the humans were long gone, they would again experience another raid, which they wouldn't have enough manpower to resist.

The higher-ups wouldn't send a lot of demons to them, as they were nothing but an insignificant dungeon.

Not wanting to go any further, Jacob jumped into the action with his daggers and started to attack the humans.

Karthikeyan didn't stand still and was now fighting on the frontline.

Occasionally, with his high power, he would damage the Lizardman's skin, which couldn't be scratched even by Levis.

But as this would be when the lizard man had already taken a lot of blows, no one raised alarms of suspicion. Even Jacob didn't see anything out of the ordinary.

*Thud*

A man who was level 13 and was the leader of the new faction formed to oppose the raiding of the village fell to the ground after his heart was pierced by a dagger.

The lizard man soon took out his heart and started to eat it, much to the bafflement of the others present.

Seeing their bafflement, the lizard man replied in a calm tone.

"Oh, you must wonder why I'm eating this man's heart, right?"

"It's because it's my race's special ability that allows us to gain extra experience points whenever we kill other beings, including our own."

"Definitely, you would have met a lizard man before coming here, no?" He replied after completing eating his heart and wiping off the blood trailing from his lips.

Every race in this world, no matter where they lived, had something special attached to them.

The elves had a high affinity with mana and healing attributes and were very potent in that aspect, while beastmen were very skilled in stealth and attack.

Orcs were big and had defensive skills. While humans have very high adaptability.

As everyone was bestowed with talent with some exceptions , that talent that was bestowed was more likely linked to their race.

For example , orcs would usually gain talent , that probably had their natural defence stats high , or some skills attributed to it. But that didn't mean that they would not get other associated skills like healing and support , albeit them getting them could be considered as rare.

As humans had high adaptability , they would often have a wide variety of skills and talents for them to use.

Seeing the situation was getting worse , Levis who had innumerable cuts on his body activated his skill that best showed his level B talent.

His trump card level 7 skill "The bayonet charge"

It best went with his broadsword that he carried.

It increased his defence by 5 points while also increasing his attack by 10 points. It had no backlashes in other stats except it had a countdown of 10 minutes and a cool down time of 20 minutes.

"Guess its time to finally finish this guy" Karthikeyan said as though he was waiting for this exact moment.

"Guys , I have activated my skill , defend me and attack this lizard from every sides , we are sure to defeat them" he said after he felt new energy entering his body rapidly.

Everyone tightened their grips on the swords and was ready to unleash their own trump cards.

The mages also readied themselves to cast spells.

Jacob, sensing that everyone activated their strongest skills, couldn't help but muse to himself.

He had almost now become a fanatic after fighting with these puny humans and all the while trying to control it.

But guess he couldn't anymore , as this scene in front of him was musing.

He wouldn't mind dying here, as his soul couldn't be sucked out by Oluz. Their mana contact only stated that Oluz could do it only when he failed his task and was still alive. It didn't state that Oluz could suck his soul out once he had died. But while he was laughing in his own brilliancy, he also forgot another logic that could be applied.

He then felt a hand go through his heart, taking it out.

In an instinct, he bended his head to see that his heart was now out, with the arteries and veins intact and the heart still pumping blood!

"To think that your puny logic would just let you get out of the trouble of getting your soul sucked out"

Oluz, who had spoken, calmly continued

"If I could remind you, the contract also stated, my friend, that just failing the task would let me suck your soul out, and you just failing your task by having the intent to die before finishing the job also counts, right?"

Jacob's eyes widened in disbelief.

"Well, as you can see, the system is not giving any repercussions, so that means "

Then silence descended for a few seconds.

"You are good as dead forever."

The sound of someone squashing something and blood squatting was heard in the clear night.

A brilliant light of the color blue rose from Jacob's body and made its way through Oluz's body.

He had successfully consumed a soul, and as a result, his blessings and his powers reached new heights.

It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that now he is one of the most powerful level 20 to ever exist.
