CHAPTER 19

Korneus rushed towards Karthikeyan blindly without any care of counterattack with his sword. His plan was that , he would just keep on charging Karthikeyan like a rhino which he would most probably keep on escaping until a point where he , ie , Karthikeyan would be consumed by fatigue and then eventually be killed by him.

It was not a great plan but a sufficient one.

By just rushing on blindly didn't really mean he would just swing the sword as it is. He had just 2 minutes and 30 seconds to finish the battle so he had to be careful and use all the knowledge of swordsmanship he had learnt in these 2 days since the catastrophe started. Today was July 11th. The catastrophe started on July the 9th.

Karthikeyan after countering 4 attacks in a row got the gist of his plan and was now stuck in a dilemma whether to just play along and kill him after the time is up or just kill him right now.

If he chose the former , then it would cause some doubts as no one here except Korneus knew the time to which the skill lasted. There was also one more trick Korneus had. He definitely didn't want to face that.

The lady would too have her suspicions and speculate if he had some kind of detection abilities which would probably be one of the top skills.

He had to remain in the shadows , otherwise if exposed , he would have to face enemies unnecessarily .

While stuck in a dilemma , Korneus found a chance and made a fatal blow aiming at Karthikeyan's heart when he was stranded in mid air due to the rapid attacks.

Well if any ordinary human was stuck in this position , they would probably die as Korneus was literally one of the top proficient humans on the planet.

Karthikeyan , being who he was just deflected the move in mid air by just turning his body . A simple move but yet had a profound effect on Kornues.

Korneus had put his all in this move as it was going for Karthikeyan's heart, but to just deflect this move by a simple movement , Korneus now felt a sense of doom.

Not letting his Negative thoughts reach him , he just kept on attacking. He manoeuvred the sword in such a way that in a short amount of time it would deal many fatal blows. The attack was so fast that the lady couldn't follow it. It just looked like afterimages.

Karthikeyan after dodging all the attacks finally came to a stable position and took out his sword.

2 minutes had gone . 30 seconds remained. For him nearly 7 minutes remained. Korneus couldn't activate the skill for another 10 minutes.

He now had to use the final trump card. His talent.

Being an A rank talent , he obviously had a great trump card up his sleeve .

He activated his talent and a ritual circle came out under his legs. It was emitting golden lights. It removed his fatigue and also extended his skill's time limit from 30 seconds to 5 minutes.

This talent also had an ability to max out his hp but now it didn't as Karthikeyan never damaged Korneus.

A weapon in the form of a hammer appeared in Korneus's hand. It was about 2 feet long and looked like it easily weighed 500 kgs. Its design was simple and yet it looked like it was made with top class materials. It had an emblem embedded on it. It looked like the symbol which is used to represent doctors.

The talent didn't give the dude any power upgrades as it would be absurd and just break the balance. Instead the main point to note here was the weapon in his hand.

Karthikeyan assessed it

It's a hammer that is bestowed upon the individuals who have certain talents which align to psychotic disorders by the properties of the universe's energies.

Just a bland description but if one observed closely they could see the word "Talents".

Why was the plural used here instead of the singular? could there be multiple talents somehow ? He never up to this point heard of the news of having multiple talents. No one according to current information had multiple talents which would just be absurd .

Even the top demon who came to this planet to invade was level 13 and had only one "A" tier talent. He was defeated in France by someone named Charles who has according to sources an A plus talent. It was the highest known talent till now.

Setting his doubts aside for contemplation during a later time , he prepared himself by coming to a position .

The drawback of using the talent was that Korneus couldn't again use it for 2 days and he would have insane fatigue for those 2 days , thus leaving him behind in the race of increasing levels and getting powerful. He would also be experiencing fatigue right now even though the talent just healed it.

But this man in front of him , he just couldn't let him go.

He has never been humiliated in life and he would never be humiliated ever . Either it was death or life. He decided to do or die. His stats might have fallen down, but his health was still 1000 , and not to mention his absurd attack. Karthikeyan would be killed in just one move.

With that in mind , he held his hammer firm and got closer to Karthikeyan. This weapon had no skills embedded in it so he just had to do moves on his own.

He swung the sword in a circle hoping that it would hit Karthikeyan but as his speed was low , it didn't , Karthikeyan just got out of the way.

As it was a narrow alley , parts of the surrounding buildings got damaged . They didn't get just damaged , but got demolished into bits of pieces that lay here and there.

The 113 attack was definitely brutal.

Korneus couldn't actually do coordinated well precise hits as his fatigue , ie his mental exhaustion was very high right now. For getting hypothetically 50 levels of extra attack stats , it was reasonable , but it is what put the ability in the "A" tier.

Karthikeyan jumped up in the air , tilted his body sideways and got his sword near Korneus neck.

Korneus dodged the attack and was now on the opposite side. Korneus against all odds tried to neglect his fatigue and did a coordinated strike by striking the hammer on kartikeyan's shoulders.

It was clumsy so Karthikeyan dodged the attack and kicked Korneus's abdomen.

Korneus spat blood. His hp was now at 800. Just a punch to the abdomen did 200 damage .

the fight went on for another 4 minutes. Karthikeyan still had 3 minutes to go while Korneus was down 1 minute. He could gain back his original stats as it is , but what use was it ? he would just be in a worse situation than before.

Karthikeyan didn't let the opponent catch a breath . He rushed on to him directly which shocked Korneus. It was a reckless attack.

Just a swing , Karthikeyan would be killed instantly. He tried to swing his hammer , but Karthikeyan was already near him.

By trying to swing his hammer , Korneus let out a wide open stance .

Karthikeyan just stabbed the sword in the heart.

Korneus wore no armour , considering it was just the 4th day the currency was introduced.

Korneus's vision blurred. Yes he was dying . This man right in front of him defied all odds.

How was he so powerful and so fast? He had the same energy as him , ie he was probably around the same level as him. Just how?

A good one minute passed and Kornues just stood there with the sword in his heart.

Finally the silence was broken

"I have no regrets , just so you know." Korneus said

"I know." Karthikeyan said

then there was just silence again . Korneus was gone.

his body fell to the ground with a loud thud.

Karthikeyan had just killed a human , what did he feel?

Well he just killed the demons in the shape of humans , but they were already depicted as enemies and as things went , there was some sensation that surrounded them whenever they saw the demons which just gave them the need to kill them and emancipate themselves from those cruel beasts.

Probably the vice verses was true for the demons as well.

He didn't feel anything right now . He just didn't want to feel anything . Even though many emotions struck him, he just controlled himself because in the future he would kill lots of humans.

Karthikeyan then turned around and saw the saw the lady just standing there.

His purple eyes shined in the dark.
