Chapter 3: My Birthday Gift

After the video section of the birthday party, my parents went on to greet the guests who were present at the party, while I also went on to play with my friend, Kim Seong Well, it was also some sort of business party. So almost all the shareholders of my father's company came. I really don't know why they made that schedule but it was ambiguous. Seeing so many elders around. The only thing that made it less incongruous was they came along with their children, I mean the fun ones. They made me so happy. We played so many games. They one that made someone vomited was the when we were playing with he swing. The deal was the person who went higher will be the winner. It was two plays the one who will sit on the swim and the one who will push it. My partner was Seong.

It was really awesome.I think I deserved it, because it was my birthday after all. And what made it equivocal was, some of the children were party poopers. I really didn't like that. But one of the party pooper embarrassed herself. When she saw us happily playing, she wanted to come and quench the fire of the fun. When she came, she sacked the guy who was sitting on the swing, Micheal, so that she can win just to show as we are some nobodies. God being so good, when she went high in the sky, she left the swing and she fell from that height. She was in white and jeez this girl made a fool of herself. Some of us were laughing really hard.

She looked at me. I didn't know what she expected me to say, but I said sorry, just to be nice. After her mom came for her I also joined them and we all laughed. I didn't even ask of her name but I guess one of them knew them. I just wanted to write a funny thing to mark the ending part of my dairy. At least I got a funny thing I will laugh about. "Nyx" Seong called my name,what game do you want us to play again since it's your birthday. 'Mmm let me think'. Yeah basketball of course, what else could it be. Well as a girl, I really love to play games, both video games and field games in my house or maybe even in school. The game I really loved to play was basketball and tennis. Specifically, table tennis. I knew how to do most things without being taught. It sometimes surprise my friend, Seong, as of how I could do that but me in particular didn't know how I could do that. I call it a gift. A gift from above. At this age I almost did not know myself, almost. Because all I knew about myself was that my name is Nyx, My birthday is today, I'm nine years old. I have a normal height as most six year old girls might have. I have a long thick black hair unlike anyone in my family. I think that's what makes me different. I'm a trouble maker and very stubborn but also a quite girl. I have a big family. It sounds funny but that's what my father told me. My father is a... Okay fine I don't know. I'm from.... Ummm, I guess I don't know that one too. I live in Korea. This is what I know about myself so I did not have much to say about my personality. "Hello! Nyx! Nyx! Hey girl back to earth. On which of the planets were you?" Nevermind. I got the ball so let's start playing. Since she was my only friend, we always played alone no matter what. But today, because of the business party my father added to the birthday party, I got to play with so many people. Unless maybe we are in school. It was fun because most of the children joined us. Some who did not know how to play, stood behind the court and cheered us. It was really really nice to have people around cheering you up. When we scored the shouted yeah and when the others scored those that were supporting us will say ooohhhh. The yeahs and the ooohhhs made it funny. It was like some cartoons watching a football match. We stopped playing when we were all exhausted. Hah! Hah! Hah!..."Nyx you cheated today too". 'Really Seong even after you winning the game, you still say I cheated, you even pulled my shirt.' she said with a what! facial expression. The others left after the game. "You enjoyed yourself right? Birthday girl". Asked Seong while panting. After that, we went to sit on the nearby lovers bench, drank some water and enjoyed ourselves with variety of ice creams.

Soon after this, we both were called inside for the gifting since it was my birthday. Each time I celebrated my birthday, my father will be the last person in line to present his gift. People started giving me gifts while I said thank you to them with a smile. Some hugged me, others will kiss me on the cheek and so on. Some of the gifts were heavy others were light, some were wrapped, others were not. The wrapped ones were items and the unwrapped one were blessings in words. My grandma gave me twelve packets of chocolates since she knew them to be my favourite. My grandpa gave me a dairy and a pen and told me he had a surprise for me later. Okay grandpa, I nodded in response. 'I knew it wasn't good to reply elders with a nod but what can I do. I guess this is why they say I'm stubborn because I don't listen to them.' Followed by my uncle, my aunty, my friend, my mother and then finally the moment I've been waiting for. My dad always gives the biggest gift on my birthday. On my fifth birthday he gave me a phone and a headset which I've been dreaming of. Well this time I did not know what he was going to present.
