A boyfriend in hand, two treasures in sight.

... "When did at all become real?" "When I found out we were both just fooling ourselves" "What do you mean?" "Did you get together with me because you loved me?" "No...?" "So, why are we dating right now?" "Because I've actually fallen in love with you." "Close enough." ... Olivia Hart is dead. Figuratively speaking, of course. Do you know what it's like to have the most infinite of treasures and just when you're about to come into contact with it, it actually slips through your fingers? She does. And with what she actually lost, she feels she might have been better off dead. But perhaps she never really lost that treasure of hers. Perhaps it was just hidden from plain sight. And all it'll take for her to actually see it...was a certain business magnate. ...

"Oh, give me your phone," Olivia suddenly stopped what she'd been saying and stretched out her hand. "I should save my number just in case you'd need to call."

Shawn didn't understand why he was suddenly distracted with how slender her hand looked. Her fingers were long and beautiful, looking even more so with the barely noticeable nail polish she had on. He tucked his phone in her palm when her brows started to furrow and glanced elsewhere, before he could try to break down what it was exactly that was wrong with him.

He watched, almost too keenly, as she tried to call her own line with his phone so his contact could also reflect in her device. There was just this attractive poise and grace with her simply focusing on the littlest of things.

"All done," She handed his phone back with a cultured smile. "We could talk sometime to set up the first meeting with your family."

"Actually," Shawn resisted the urge to show how nervously awkward he felt right now. "I already told my mom about you. Is it okay if you stop by for lunch tomorrow?"

"I don't have anything planned," This meant she definitely wouldn't miss it except there was a mishap or something inconceivable happened. "Your mother and sister..."

Shawn's brows furrowed when he suddenly caught the worry in her voice. "What about them?," He asked.

"Are they conversant with news?", She wondered.

"Why do you ask?"

"Even though my business is rather private and few know of it," Her gaze was cast with a dark expression. "My work was still leaked by a disgruntled client and it reached the ears of quite a number of people."

"She wouldn't know that," Shawn knew his mother well enough. At most, she'd just shake it off as some baseless rumor and dismiss it to the back of her head.

"Alright, then," Olivia packed up her things. "I'll have to bother you to send me the location of wherever this lunch would take place. I'll go ahead first."

Shawn merely gave a small nod. Somehow, he had a feeling that these ensuing thirty days were going to change his life forever.

Olivia was kind of rushing against time at this point. She'd only woken up in the afternoon and with this impeding lunch, she wanted to get there on time so that she could at least make a good first impression on his family—even if she was just a fake.

After dressing up in what she supposed was a decent enough outfit, she rushed into her Benz and started heading to Shawn's.

It seemed like the Heavens, though, were against her and she was almost nearing the district when she caught sight of a girl running across the main road absentmindedly. Her car was driving at full force and if not that she sharply swerved, the girl might probably have been history.

Unfortunately, her crash collided with another and that immediately shook her to the core, head falling against the wheel and causing a trail of blood to slip down her temple. In fact, her swerving seemed to be all for naught, Olivia realized as she stumbled out of the car dizzily.

Another car had completed what she'd tried to avoid and swiftly sped away, leaving the innocent girl crumpled on the road. She couldn't have been more than four or five and despite her crippling nausea for children, she staggered over despite the numerous cars flocking about and ignoring them.

Anyone could care less, after all, right?

But what was important to her was this girl right now, Olivia decided as she scooped her into her arms and turned back to her car.

She tore for the nearest hospital next, the lunch date with Shawn's family forgotten in the meantime.

After her daughter's death, she'd avoided children like they were a plague. Somehow, looking at anyone of them made her remember her dead daughter.

Despite the nausea she was feeling now, she knew she absolutely could not let this girl simply lose her life.

She didn't want to think of how much it would kill her family members.

The same way her daughter's had killed her.
