Chapter Eighteen

If your best friend and boyfriend make a plan to go to your boyfriend playing football a week after he has officially asked you to be his girlfriend your answer would be yes out of some kind of respect.

Mine was no.

So here I am in my Mount Chelsea top and some black ripped jeans in a box way out of my tax bracket to support my boyfriend that nobody knows about, not even Jasmine knows Mason and I are together, Mason said he wants it to be a surprise and that Jasmine would just give him the I told you so speech and he wasn't ready to accept defeat just yet.

"So how has life been?" Jasmine whispered as I sat next to Thor and one of his mates that take this kind of thing super serious, I looked over at the boys then over at a spare wall that was away from the game, I looked at Jas and signalled for us to go over by the wall and have this chat before I get decapitated.

We walked over and both stood on either side of each other leaning on the wall for support, Jasmine looked at me with pleading eyes as if she was waiting for me to spill some kind of gossip or something.

"I have been good if that's what you are asking, I have just finished a project with the new company I am working with thanks to your brother, the next gig is, unfortunately, being Mr boy with a dreams Stylist which I am not looking forward to," I said as I held back the fact that Mason had been nagging at me about this gig all week! how much he couldn't wait to spend a couple hours with me and what cologne he should wear that day, if I were going to help him dress or just help him once dressed. I assured him I was filling in for Charlotte as she wasn't available so I was stepping in while she was off with another client.

"Oooo that'll be good! you guys will get to see each other again, maybe pick up where you left off if you catch my drift" she winked while nudging me in the arm, if she only knew that so far his car was the least comfy, his bed was average and that surprisingly the sofa holds the most adventure she would be singing a different tune. a lot can happen in a week or two.

"I just want to be able to tell my brother I told you so, he hasn't dated in so long I think he needs something to occupy him instead of coming to mine every weekend that he has off" she added chuckling and looking over at Ben and Summer who were pressed up on the window peering out at the game.

"Well I don't think we'd be able to see each other much as he is always working and now so am I, our schedules would cross" I stated as she gave me and wink and walked away from me and returned to her family, I let out a big sigh and looked over at Thor who was still glued on the game, I let a small smile crawl on my face before deciding to call it a day for myself.

______

I don't know what had come over me I just was no longer in the mood to deal with my reality and everything going on in it, so what do you do when you feel like this? Work.

As quickly as I got home I was out again, collecting the things I needed from home and heading to the building that I worked at, I needed to distract myself from everything and even though it was a weekend I could be in a quiet office away from everything and everyone and just sort out the things I needed to do on Monday when it rolled around.

Arriving at the building I let myself in and went straight to floor 20, the building I worked as was so fancy and clearly run by the rich, it was definitely an upgrade from a coffee shop which I wasn't upset about.

"peace" I whispered as I entered the office and dropped my stuff on my desk pulling out the chair and slumping down on it doing my usual routine, switching on the PC allowing myself to do the biggest most unattractive stretch in the world and cracking every knuckle possible. Better.

Scanning over my Calendar I had one day that I was the busiest and that was the day I would be Mase's Stylist as he had a full day shoot which meant I was there from dusk to dawn, I wasn't upset at that as who wants to be couped up in an office all day, but the early morning call was bugging me, I mean he wasn't there until Lunch time but they wanted us there from the butt crack of the morning!

The rest of the week I was doing chase-ups for clients, I was styling for an interview with another football player from Manchester so would be in Manchester for the day which is fun! other than that I was office bound until the weekend.

________

Jasmine: Hi Chica! what happened to you?

My phone buzzed breaking me out of my research bubble and I pulled my eyes away from one screen to look at the much small one that lay on my desk upright, a small smile on my face and then it disappeared as fast as it came.

Me: Wasn't feeling well so decided to head off early, I am all good though

I placed my phone back down this time face down so I wasn't able to see anything on the phone that would distract me again, I then decided it was probably a good time to get up and walk to the kitchen and get a coffee to keep me warm and awake.

Work coffee is never the same as a good Starbucks or Costa but when you can't be asked to go outside and socialise even if it meant simple saying a Caramel Macchiato with oat milk please, thank you, it just still seemed way too much communication and let's not forget having to smile and stand there and wait while more people stand next to you crowding your already crowded thoughts.

So crap work coffee is it.
