Keep an open mind on the whale thing. Honestly it makes it more realistic, people in these small villages don’t know or care about endangered species. They are just trying to live. Hard to blame someone for fitting in the environment they were raised in. That being said obviously whaling is horrible but don’t think reading this novel is gonna make anyone want to go out and start whaling.... if anything it’ll shed light on the ugly nature of this act. China does love eating their endangered and rare animals though...
