I don't think the protagonist is "evil" he's more of an apathetic and somewhat sociopathic person these parts came from vegapunk.

Hey man unless you got plans on dipper obviously being the culprit at least to Stan, soos, and Mabel you might want to change it to either a different weapon or completely wiping Gideon(taking his journal). It just be plot hole if they don’t know it dipper when cause death is revealed.

Dipper was very stupid to kill Gideon. It was completely unnecessary since without the diary or knowledge of the supernatural Gideon is at best a stupid child, even the method of murder was stupid. Decapitation attracted undue attention when MC could have used more subtle means to make it look like an accident.
