Thanks for the chapter! Keep up the great work. Here’s my take on harems: I think, from a purely reproductive perspective, they make sense. The idea behind having multiple lovers (if the harem is full of women) is to spread your genetics. By introducing romance and genuine affection into the mix, things get weird and it no longer is about ensuring your genes are firmly in the next generation. If the focus is a woman with multiple men as her lovers, the ability to ensure her genes get carried on is secure, but not to the extent that it would be if she was a man. The concept of having multiple lovers can be linked to the idea of “I have good genes and so do you, so our kid will be amazing,” except it happens with multiple people in quick succession. I, personally, don’t enjoy harems in any context. I think they can make sense if treated logically, but at that point they are no longer harems. They turn into a man and his wife with multiple concubines. Or a woman and her husband with multiple concubines. In either case, the concubines wouldn’t actually be loved and would be there for reproduction.
