Comments of chapter undefined of HP: The Red-Haired Wizard (Paused)

This was dumb… I mean, there are so many plot holes in the original but this is a step beyond even that. For one thing, why was she there? When all the students are enjoying the festivities and eating the halloween meal she’s skipping through the school because she’s so happy? 😮‍💨 Okay, let’s put this aside as some strange twist of fate entangling her to the encounter… why is a school arranged meal taking place at such a late hour? Presumably this incident happened right after they left the gathering yet 11:40 is an absurdly late time for students to be kept awake and this is after the little party was put to an ‘early’ end. I know the saying that midnight is the witching hour but I doubt any school, even one for magicals, would set up an event that would see their students awake at such an hour. Knowing the canon as he does… how could he possibly disregard the possibility of something happening on halloween night? Even if it’s just to sate a morbid curiosity I find it hard to believe that he wouldn’t look for Hermione or the troll. Dumbledore couldn’t possibly be fooled by Quirrel and it’s pretty well established that everything that happened in Hogwarts is under his control… in fact the entire first book is something of a plot hole in canon unless Dumbledore was intentionally directing the play. 🤨so why and how could such a monumental 🤬 up like this possibly take place?
