I've come to a realization about what might be happening here. It seems that Harry, having experienced failure in protecting his original world and now finding himself reincarnated into this new one, is desperately searching for a sense of purpose. In his misguided attempt to "save" this world, he targets Rose and Orion as potential threats or obstacles to his mission, perhaps because they represent unknown variables. Furthermore, his involvement in Hermione's loss of self could stem from his own unresolved emotions, a manifestation of his longing to resurrect his past love whom he couldn't save in his previous world. In other words, Harry's actions suggest that his quest to "save" this new world stems from a deep-rooted desire to redeem himself for his failures in protecting his original realm, with Rose, Orion, and Hermione becoming unwitting targets in his pursuit of purpose and redemption.
